Description of Work: I took my Black and Decker electric lawn mower in for repair. Two employees worked at diagnosing and fixing it, but discovered that I needed to take it to the authorized factory dealer. They spent a lot of time and when they found out they couldn't fix it, they gave me clear instructions on how to find the dealer with the service department who could. They didn't charge me anything.

+ -1 moreIt went very well even though they couldn't fix the problem and did not charge me anything.
Description of Work: They were very nice and tried to fix a problem with my microwave oven. It was the panel that had to be pushed to open the door in order to use it. They were so very helpful and tried very hard to fix it. They even called Sears for me which is where I had bought it and arranged for Sears to send me a part. Sears did not send the right part and I had to replace the microwave. Before I went to Beechwold Hardware I went to another company and they asked me for a large deposit before even looking at the microwave. I did not like that at all and that's when I went to Beechwold Hardware and they tried to fix it and never charged me a cent.

+ -1 moreThey sure know what they are doing!!! It's great to find some place that still has staff that can actually fix things while you wait. PRICELESS!! Their charge is very low for the speed and quality of their work. Also, their staff has always been polite, helpful and eager to please. I really like going there for general hardware needs as well.
Description of Work: On more than one occasion I have brought them lamps to fix -- first time, the new lamp I ordered via mail was assembled backwards and they reassembled it so I could use it. The second time (March 2010) they fixed an older lamp that needed some new wiring.

+ -1 moreOur "made in Italy" toaster decided to stop working one day. No lights, no heat, no nothing. The only option from the manufacturer was to ship it to Toledo for servicing. So I brought it into Beechwold Hardware and the guys started working on it immediately. They spent a solid 30 minutes looking it over, inside and out. We decided it was a blown fuse and they were able to bypass it. They were very thorough, and offered a full refund if it stopped working again. It's been at least a month later, and so far so good. I would definitely go back to them with any small appliance problems.

+ 0 moreI was pleasantly surprised to see that my local hardware store could get the Energy Star water heater I wanted, and they supplied me with all the parts I needed, and even helped me get the tank to my house. Installation took about an hour, and everything passed inspection. I now ask this little store if they can order things I would have earlier thought I could only get through a professional or at a big box store.
Description of Work: My water heater had a slow leak and I knew it would need to be replaced fairly soon. I called some plumbers but didn't want to spend $1,000 or more. I looked at big box places and didn't find energy efficient models. I just happened to be in Beechwold Hardware looking for something else and discovered they sold water heaters. I compared their models to Energy Star compliant lists and ordered a heater, which was ready for me in a couple days.

+ -1 moreThis is my favorite hardware store in Columbus. Unlike the big box hardware stores, the employees know where things are, how to use them, and what to use to fix something. They will spend time to help you find a 30 cent bolt, track down a repair part, or tell you how to fix the item yourself. If they don't have something in stock they don't just shrug, they order it for you. It's small and the service is outstanding and friendly.
Description of Work: Fixed table lamp, gave advice on many repair projects, cut piece of glass, etc.

+ -1 moreBased on the information I had about the heater, I was under the impression that I was out of the warranty period and wouldn't get any warranty support. However, the guys at Beechwold exchanged my broken heater for a new one of the same model. They saved me about $80 if I would have had to get a new one. The day I dropped the heater off, they were very busy and I didn't get much time to talk to anyone. But they called me to follow-up and when I called back, the guy that answered the phone knew exactly what I was talking about. Great services.
Description of Work: I took a portable electric heater in for repair. Though they could not repair the heater, they were able to exchange it for a new one.

+ 0 moreI brought in the taped-together pieces of Plexiglas that someone had broken in my back door. He used this as a template to cut me some glass, as I wanted the greater R-value glass provides. He cut it a little smaller, as he understood that the plexi had been bent to fit, and the glass ended up fitting perfectly. I have two more panes in plexi in this same door, which I plan on removing one at a time, and having Beechwold Ace cut me the new glass each time. He wrapped the glass in a brown paper bag for me. I had no trouble handling it.
Description of Work: Cut a piece of glass for me to glaze into my back door.

I appreciate that as opposed to the service providers who string the customer along with false hopes or shoddy work. This is the type of company I like to do business with; I'll be back.
Description of Work: I brought a desk lamp to them for repair. They completely inspected it and determined that a repair really wasn't practical or cost-effective. No charge.

When I went to Beechwold, the salesman took me through the aisles and helped me find the exact parts I needed. I would highly recommend Beechwold Ace Hardware. If they can't solve the problem, nobody can!

They kept a running account for me instead of charging me each time.
