The owner and his assistant made two visits to my house and advised on proper way to hang materials. I decided not to do the work when I realized what was involved BUT do feel the contractor provided advice and contact equal to the deal so I want no reimbursement. Thank you.

I bought a big deal for this service and it worked out okay -- not spectacular, but it was okay. They came out about 30 days after I purchased the deal. I did not spend any more than the price of the big deal. He worked within the budget of the deal. But, there was a glitch in the fact that one of the lights that was installed was not what I thought it was and he did not make that clear to me so I ended up having to have somebody else come out and do it. He did ho not improperly install, but he did not give me enough information to know that the light wasn't going to do the purpose of what I had bought it for. I did not buy it from him, he was just installing. He wasn't particularly friendly. The pricing seemed to be fine.

Mr. Igel was prompt with his assessment of the job and giving me a price. When the job started he was professional and had good communication. The job was completed without any issues and looks great. I would definitely use Mr. Igel's handyman services again and highly recommend him to others.

Everything went smoothly. A team of guys came to perform the work. I am relieved that my screen door is finally installed and operating great. I have no complaints. I would use them again for other projects in the future.

He has been very responsive, professional and timely. Each project has been completed as requested and done properly. I will continue to use BDJ for our handyman needs.

The man came out in January, and was very nice and pleasant. He went over a number of ideas I had for my kitchen. He went to Home Depot to check prices on everything, but I wasn't able to do the work right away. I had 6 months to use the service and get the $500 off the service. He never gave me the 3D drawings, but I emailed him within the 6 months (in June) to try and get something started. I never heard anything at all back from him after that. Perhaps he didn't get the message.

Excellent craftsmanship and professionalism, Bill is highly skilled in his trade. He arrived on time, completed his task for a lower than expected wage. did his work quickly and cleaned up before he left. I will definitely hie him again

It went very well. I was very pleased. He came in and got the work done. It didn't take long at all. He only charged me for the time he was here, and he cleaned up and was very professional.

I talked to Bill from BDJ shortly after purchasing the big deal for the installation of the 4 pot lights with a dimmer. Bill said he was very busy with others who had purchased the deal and he would contact me later in the month (this was early April). He did keep in relatively frequent communication but unfortunately every time we spoke, he was unable to commit to a time for install and we had to keep reviewing the details of the job (i.e. he never kept any notes from our conversations). Eventually Bill said he wasn't going to have time to get to it soon and if I wanted the work done, he would have another person do the work. I told him I was wary of this since I had hired Bill/BDJ based on his reviews and if he sent someone who didn't know what they were doing, it would reflect poorly on him. Bill said he understand and that he used this person for several other jobs like this and it always worked out well. Bill said the guy's name was Tim Hoover and he was a licensed electrician. This is in mid-May. I get a call about a week later from a guy who says he's going to come install the can lights. We have to review the job again and what I'd like to have done (obviously not good communication between Bill & this new guy). We eventually settle on a date for install. When the guy shows up, I find that it's not Tim Hoover, but some other guy named Ken Beadle. So not only was Bill/BDJ unable to show up, but neither was Tim, the guy who Bill sold me on to complete the job. Ken Beadle has some guy named Jeremy (I think) complete the work. The timeliness and communication from Ken and Jeremy was very poor. They didn't show up on time and they made a mess of the work space. There was insulation from the attic all over our loft space, master bedroom and master closet. Jeremy made a lame attempt to clean things up. My wife's clothing had insulation from the attic all over them and she was not happy about that. Jeremy was unable to finish the work the first day he was there (no problem), so he was going to come back on Monday and wrap up. Monday comes around. No call from Jeremy. I call to confirm he is still coming and he says he got tied up at another job - an emergency. I let him know that's alright but he really should tell his customers as soon as something like this comes up. He tells me that Ken was supposed to call me and let me know but Ken never did. Jeremy says he should be able to make it out later in the afternoon. Jeremy texts me later and tells me he won't be done with his current job until after 9pm so we schedule for him to come out on Tuesday and wrap things up. Jeremy comes on Tuesday. I had asked the previous Friday if he would replace 3 existing fixtures with can lights just like the ones he was putting in new in the loft. So he did that on Friday but that caused one of the lights in the main floor to no longer work. Jeremy tested things out and determined that one of the can lights he installed was faulty. He removed it and went to the hardware store for a new one. Unfortunately Jeremy did a fair bit of damage to the ceiling while doing the install and had to try and spackle/cover the damage. I could tell he didn't have experience with this since he didn't do a very good job. The main problem with Jeremy/Ken's work is that they didn't buy an electrical box shallow enough to fit in the wall with the switch (also the dimmer switch they installed was complete garbage). So when it came time to put the switch cover on, there was a significant gap between the switch cover and the wall. Jeremy spent a considerable amount of time trying to spackle the gap and fix the wall damage that had occurred when he was removing the previous electrical box. Ultimately I told Jeremy I was satisfied just so that he would go away and I could fix it myself. I spent 3 hours the following night installing a more shallow electrical box (Jeremy said he had installed the most shallow one he could find - obviously not) and re-wiring the electrical in the box. Overall I feel a little bad giving BDJ a bad review for work they didn't personally complete. But since I bought the deal through BDJ and they coordinated to have the work completed buy a company/individual who performed sub-par work, it's their responsibility to make sure they know what they're doing.

The work took about 10 days to complete. My new smooth ceiling is stunning and looks beautiful - transforming the entire room. Getting the new ceiling (of a very old house) level was a challenge, but achieved! The cost was more than I anticipated, but it was very fair as two men worked for 10 days - and the work is stunningly beautiful.

They did pretty good. They were punctual and they can get the work done. They opened the ceiling and the price of fixing the ceiling wasn't covered.

This was a straight forward simple fix with ho bumps, hiccups, or bruises. What was special was Bill himself. He is bright, educated, and down to earth. Due to a glitch in his messaging service with Angie's List we didn't connect right away. So I wasn't sure what to expect. But his honesty concerning his problem put me at ease. The end result is: I also had him take a look at a bathroom shower problem to get his input and a ballpark number. I would work with him again.

Bill does an amazing job. At our first meeting, he suggested design options I didn't even know were possible and the final result is incredible. There were a few odd things about the way our house was built with placement of pipes, etc but Bill had a plan for how to make it all work every step of the way. My bathroom looks like it should be in a hotel and we couldn't be happier.

Bill arrived on time and promptly went to work and repaired my gate leading off my deck and repaired steps. He removed a old celling fan and installed the new one and before he left he made sure that everything was done to my satisfaction. Bill was very knowledge and I enjoyed talking with him. I will be scheduling him in the fall for additional work. My last handyman retired and I'm glad I found Bill. Highly recommended! Bob

The lights are beautiful and bright. We both worked with each other's schedules as he had a trip planned and we were having some other things done in the house and it all worked out nearly perfectly for the timing of both of our schedules. There was only one minor issue in that there was a loose wire but he came back out and fixed it the same day we reported it to him. During the initial discussion of the work, he suggested an upgrade to LED lights for $40 additional, which we decided to do, but the cool thing about him was that the lights happened to be on sale for $30 the week he did the work and he passed the complete savings on to us. That's integrity!! We had no idea and he could have just pocketed the difference. Bill was an absolute professional during the entire process and a good guy, at that!!

Bill, confirmed his appointment the day before coming. He arrived on time. He looked at my list, viewed what needed to be done and started working on the list right away. He did not spend a lot of time in idle chatter. He was quick and efficient and got the entire list done with a little time to spare. Because he was so efficient, he also did somethibng else that I did not think could be done in the alloted time. I was so impressed that I asked him about larger jobs that I eventually want to do and got his opinion on the time it would take to do them. He carries a lot of tools in his truck but advised me that he doesn't carry every part needed for every job (most handymen don't). I was able to save time because I had the nails and screws that he needed to do the jobs I requested. I would hire him again and more importantly I would recommend him to my family and friends.

I had to ask for a refund for the 'Big Deal' coupon because he could not do the work which I paid for in the form of the '1 Hour of Handyman" service coupon. NO WORK WAS PERFORMED Bill did not feel my review was fair and sent the following message to me to that effect: BDJ Handymen Services Audrey. I am a very professional handyman however I do have a health issue that inhibits my balance therefore I don't do a lot of work that requires getting up high on a ladder. I am very clear on my website I don't do that therefore if he would have called I could have told you that if you would have looked at my website you would have known that so again its not fair to rate me as C because you obviously did not do your research. I am sorry it did not work out but it does not merit that rating. You are trashing my very good hard earned reputation Audrey Alexander Interesting. I have looked through your website and do not see any reference to the physical limitations which you claim are there. I think that your communication with me has been unreliable up to now and has taken on an unpleasant and unprofessional tone. You do not need to contact me again for any reason. I am, in writing, making it very clear that you never contact me again. Angieslist gives less weight to reviews where no work is performed, such as this. Bill needn't have sent a nasty message to me at all. But he did and I think it says something about what kind of experience a person might have if they hire this company.

We had a porch swing that we wanted to have installed on our porch. Bill was able to find a way to have it securely installed. He was able to look up under the soffits and find a way to attach it to one of the trusses and a 2x2. He was very patient and answered all my questions and concerns. I was more than happy to help him out since it really was a 2 person job. After it was installed - we gave it the ultimate test. He and I both sat in it with success!! We need more "handymen" like Bill!! Thanks again Bill!

They were really timely and punctual. They presented themselves very professionally.

He was very good in responding and being there when we needed him. He was very pleasant to work with and he got a program that could design the bathroom. It was very good. It was one of Angie's List offers to have somebody to look at the bathroom or kitchen. His quote was a little high. There weren't any issues.

Bill was quick to come out and get us an estimate for his work. He came back a few days later and completed the job. He was very efficient and a nice guy to work with. We would work with him again!
