Called to find out cost of replacing sump pump as I was having issues with it. The person answering the office phone said he did not have access to prices and that he was dispatcher only. He offered to send technician out to give free quote. He said 'it won't cost you a penny' the technician came out next day. Without even touching or even looking at my sump pump ,he said it needed to be replaced. He said he has been plumber for 20 yrs and knows. He wasn't able to tell me how much it would cost to replace ( I would think if you have been doing this for 20 yrs you would know). He went and sat in his vehicle for 15 minutes and came back with a piece of paper saying I had three options : replace sump pump and battery backup for $2,890, replace sump pump for $790 or he could look at sump pump and do diagnostic work up for $198, but if he still thought it needed replaced I would have to pay $198 plus the $790 or $2890. I am not a plumber but I know $2890 for backup and sump pump and $790 for sump pump is ridiculous ! Either this company is way way overpriced or he was taking advantage of female customers. I told him no thank you. He then proceeded to tell me I needed to pay him for a service call. Service call, what service?.. He didn't touch or look at the pump. He was strictly sent to give FREE quote as I was told by the office. He acted insulted and left.

The provider explained to me there was a leak coming from the main 2nd floor bathroom. I told him it was coming from the bathroom toilet. I previously worked on the toilet, but was rushing and could not complete the job. I called the SME to diagnose and hopefully fixed the leaking problem. The plumber told me it was not coming from the bathroom, nor the toilet. He said it was coming from another part in the house, maybe the master bathroom or a pipe. I questioned that thought. He then said that he poked a hole in the ceiling where the leak was coming from and confirm the spot. I granted him permission and he made a hole in my celing to only tell me the leak was coming from the bathroom 2nd floor toilet. I did not have him fix the problem. He told me that I could purchase all the required equipment and parts (at Home Depot (I asked him what I could myself). He mentioned buying a torch and that will help pop out the flange. He truly provided bad advice. He was wanting me to blow up my bathroom and maybe even house. I ended up fixing the leak myself and will be having the hole in the ceiling filled shortly. *typing fast may have grammar mistakes. Sorry.
Description of Work: Try to determine where a leak came from on the 2nd floor and punched a hole in my ceiling (with my permission).

Had to call gas company for major gas leak at the union joint which the gas company fixed, there was also a carbon monoxide leak due to inadequate vent repair. I had to evacuate my house, fire department came to evaluate, said was bad leak, could have exploded. ARS rescue rooter came out next morning to repair vent system and waived the charges. Apparently they only have two licensed plumbers, the other techs performed badly, glad my house didn't blow up.
Description of Work: Replaced gas hot water heater and vent. Three technicians had to come to house because the main person did not know how to make new vent work.

Told me I had a problem. Faucets were dripping. Said they would have to be replaced even though the one was not 4 years old. I have sinned fixed myself.

Tech arrived on time. Supposedly checked the three items listed. I did not hear the sump pump run, so I don't know if he really checked it. Told me there was no indoor shutoff valve for the gas line that runs to the outside of the house to connect gas grill. I believed what he told me about fixing the leaky showerhead because another plumber told me the exact same thing and gave me the same approximate repair cost. The tech arrived in muddy clothes from a previous job. He wore shoe protectors, but he walked up the driveway to my house, in the rain, with the protectors on his feet, so he left some mud in my bathroom. He reeked of nicotine, the smell of which makes me physically ill. When he was ready to check the gas line, I explained to him how to get under the deck, which was through an open section in the deck support lattice. He chose to go under the deck from a different direction and broke a piece of my composite deck and did not tell me about it. He just pushed the barbeque grill up against it. The piece he broke was already cracked, but it still functioned as it was designed to, which was to support the deck. After he broke it, it is totally useless. It is the only support bar on that section of the deck, so now I am afraid of what will happen to my deck when a heavy snow sits on it. I cannot fix the support bar myself, so now I guess I have to pay someone else to fix it. Finally, when he brought me the invoice he asked if I wanted to 'make a deal' and he would not charge me for shutting off the gas valve. I realized later, when I discovered the broken piece on my deck, that he was trying to make a deal because he broke it. I was so upset by the entire experience that I wished I had not bought the deal.
Description of Work: Angie's List Deal. Addressed a few plumbing issues I needed to have looked at. Checked a leaky showerhead, sump pump and outdoor gas line that connects to a gas barbeque grill.

when the technician came he said he fix the leak upstairs and that he finish the toilet clogged downstairs. After he left the next night with that same night we noticed it was still leaking call him on a Sunday he said it was his day off we said okay Monday he said well that's my day off too. his response was do you want me to work on my day off we told him no nevermind forget it, in addition the toilet in the basement that was supposedly unclogged is still clogged. this provider was offering a $50 off $100 and the technician only took the $50 that I paid off we didn't save anything by using them

1st experience with Angies list and purchasing a service. Very happy with the service. I coordinated with ARS for the day to do the maintenance. They called first thing in the morning to schedule Ray was technician. Very professional and explained each process step and what he was doing. Good news is checkout was good on all items. Ray gave recommendations for some calcium buildup in water heater, but not uncommon for the age of water heater. We would use ARS again for maintenance or other plumbing work

We had them come out to one of our rental properties and that was not a good experience. They made it out in a timely fashion. It was just the service person was not good and professional. We ended up having to have somebody else come out. The service cost more than the $50 Big Deal. It cost probably like a hundred or two hundred dollars more. First the guy told me that he was going to have to cut the entire wall and do all the stuff. My dad is a retired plumber so I had him come out and he said that I do not need all that. He said that I had to call them and tell them what they needed to do. They sent out one of their more seasoned guys and they indeed fixed it without doing the extensive repairs that they said they were going to do or that they needed to do, but they still had to order some parts. They redeemed themselves by sending somebody else out. I am pretty sure their price is pretty comparable. They were on time. The first guy made such an impression. The second guy was professional enough.

They came out, they bought a piece of equipment to rooter the line and the person that came out did not know what they were doing. They broke the piece of equipment. They back spoiled sewage all over themselves. They did not use little booties or anything and track the sewage through the house. They called someone else brought bigger piece of equipment and the backup was due to toilet lights. They got involved in a conversation with my renters and suggested that the plumbing was substandard in the house suggested that I needed to align the system as a way of up selling so they created fear in my tenants to try to get me to buy additional services. They performed a service that wasn't needed and convinced me that it was. Also at that time they didn't use any clean protective anything. I watched him blow back he was all over his face and then walk around the house like that. I did contacted the company because I disputed the bill and they ended up taking $50 off the bill and giving me a $100 gift certificate for future service. They did say that they didn't perform business that way, but they disputed the fact that my sewer system needed to be lined it is about $1000 service and I had two other inspection people come in and tell me that that was not the case. I would never use them again.
Description of Work: I used ARS - Rescue Rooter in spring 2014. I had a clog in a sewer line in a rental property that I own. I call them for an emergency plumbing because sewage was backing up into the basement.

It only took about five minutes, and I definitely could of did it myself if I knew the issue. I just felt like $120 was a lot of money for the amount of work that was done. I am happy that I have the deal from Angies list. I actually only paid $60 out of pocket.
Description of Work: One of my bathrooms wasn't getting hot water. The plumber came out, took off one screw, twisted a piece, put the screw back in and it was fixed.

It went great. James was kind and personable. He was conscious of not tracking mud in their the house, explained what he was doing, was aware of cost and was thoughtful. All around fantastic service!
Description of Work: My husband and I recently moved into a new-to-us house and one of the valves to the washer leaked like the dickens. We tried to fix it ourselves but despite all the great information on the Internet and good intentions the valve was installed when the earth was young and refused to budge. The Internet videos showed the next step involved a blow torch. Fire + (My Husband and I) = Bad News so we hopped onto Angie's List and saw a deal for ARS/Rescue Rooter $100 of service for $50.James from ARS/Rescue Rooter came in and had that valve off and replaced in less than 10 minutes. Yay!

We woke up to water pouring into our basement and were not sure what the problem was. The sump was working but couldn't keep up with the amount of water coming in. Immediately I went to Angie's to find a plumber in our area and ARS was the one we chose. Used one of their coupons, which knocked 5% off the tab. I happened to be the only one on their schedule today--unusual, but I won't be their last with all the melting snow. That allowed them to come quickly and spend the time necessary to fully troubleshoot the issues. Rob was like a dog with a bone! We looked over the sump and drains and determined we were probably dealing with two points of blockage. After going over different options we settled on a hot water high-pressure drain flush to see if it was just loose debris. Once the camera was available from a previous job, that was used to scope the drain and I could see live video of the ice blockage, which was about two feet long from the sidewalk to the gutter. We used all the hot water they brought, and were able to hook a hose to our water tank and use our hot water to finally dislodge the ice and flush debris which clearly had accumulated from garden run-off and outdoor construction projects. I was happy to hear we did NOT need a new sump pump, and our drain pipe, though old, was in pretty decent shape and didn't need replaced yet. Any time someone tells me I DON'T need to spend money, I trust them a little more.

Carlos did the service for me. He showed up on time. He actually finished the job ahead of schedule. He was personable. He was polite. I plan on calling them to replace the shutoff valve in the basement. I feel like they were priced fairly.

I was very pleased with the quality of service. I had a new kitchen faucet to install with the old one needing removed first. The faucet I purchased was still in the box and required being put together first, which the technician did for me. He took everything out from under the sink and was careful to put everything back where I had it when done even tho I offered to that myself. He also worked hard to clean the marks that were left by the old faucet which I felt was above and beyond my expectations. He also made sure to show me how clean the faucet and what NOT to use when cleaning the stainless steel faucet to avoid scratching.
Description of Work: The provider replaced my kitchen faucet and sprayer.

They were nice and courteous. I would recommend them. They did prompt service. The price was reasonable as well. It was a big deal purchase. There was an extra charge.

It went well, except we are located outside their service area. There was a charge of $60 for travel distance. They apologized but it defeated the savings from the deal. They even called the next day to ensure I requested a refund.

The work was extensive. The had the proper heavy equipment, re-landcscaped the area, and explained everything they were doing.
Description of Work: Replaced drainage line from basement to curb, put drains under basement windows, new sump pump.
