I had purchased the $89 Big Deal for outdoor faucet replacement. I called the company and scheduled an appointment for a few days later. The plumber arrived within the window given and was very nice and professional. He told me that the faucet pictured in the Big Deal was not recommended for this area since it wasn't frost-free. He went on to explain that his company was chosen to provide this and everyone is getting upset because there is an extra charge to upgrade to a frost-free faucet. He gave me 3 options ranging in price from an additional charge of $75 to $193. I chose the option to upgrade to a frost-free faucet and needed some additional piping since my old faucet could not be screwed out. This was $104. Once he completed the job I looked at the new faucet but didn't turn it on. A few days later I turned on the faucet to fill a sprinkling can and found that the water pressure was terrible. This was never a problem before. I immediately called the company and they scheduled someone to come out the next day, which was Sunday. This time it was a different plumber, Kyle, and he also arrived on time. I explained the problem and he said the first thing he would do is check the water pressure. His gauge showed the water pressure within normal range, but when he disconnected the hose and saw how the water was coming out he agreed that there was a problem. He pulled out the faucet and found that a plastic piece inside the faucet did not open as it should when the water was moving through. He had to go to Home Depot to get a new part to fix the problem. Kyle was very nice and seemed to really care that I was satisfied. The faucet is now working fine. When I initially found out that the Big Deal was not as good of a deal as advertised, I was a little irritated and will not likely fall for another in the future. However, I still feel that a total of $193 to replace my outdoor faucet is a pretty good deal since without the coupon it would likely have cost well over $200. And although I was more than a little upset when I found that the new faucet was practically unusable because of little water pressure, the company did respond to my complaint very quickly and fixed it to my satisfaction.

The service was performed however the price ended up costing $190 in addition to the $89 I paid for the Angie's List deal. The $89 deal was only for a regular non-freeze faucet, in Ohio you need to have an anti-freeze faucet. I figured this upgrade would cost very little, but it was an additional $80. Very little sodering was done and plastic pipe was used to replace the 4 inch ruptured section. The addition of the emergency shut-off was also an $100 or so. The original appointment date and time was completely missed, and they were 4 hours late on the rescheduled day. Overall they fixed the issue however as I mentioned be prepared to pay significantly more than the Angie's List deal states, even if for a small job.
Description of Work: Replaced an outdoor faucet and the ruptured line feeding the old one. Also added an emergency shut off.

Eric Anderson, the service technician, was very professional, personable and helpful. He worked quickly and neatly and was able to accomplish all the repairs in less than a day. I'm very happy with the job he did. The only problem I had was not with Eric, but with the communication provided to him from ARS. The reason I used ARS was because of an "Angie's Big Deal" special which was $99 for $200 worth of plumbing. When I scheduled with ARS I specifically mentioned the offer as well as its numerical code. I also gave them a brief description of all the projects I wanted done. When the technician arrived he had not been told about the projects involved so I had to go over them with him. Once he reviewed all the projects he gave me an estimate which he discounted based on the size of the job. After he gave me the quote I mentioned the "Big Deal" special and asked for the $200 discount. He said that he had not been informed of that and he could not apply the $200 because had already discounted the project so much that there was no room to take another $200 off. While I thought the price was pretty fair and went ahead with the project, I was not pleased with the fact that I couldn't apply the discount.

I purchased the Angie's List BIG DEAL outdoor faucet replacement for $89. This 'deal' included ALL PARTS & LABOR. I purchased a smilar deal earlier this year for $79 from a different company and it went perfectly = there was no additional cost. When the deal came up again, I purchased one for my mother. My huge mistake was that this 'deal' was offered from a different plumbing company and my mother ended up being charged $128 in ADDITION to the $89 'deal'. Basically the deal this company advertised is for an outdoor faucet that they can't even install because of city code (or so they say) so you will automatically be charged for an upgraded outdoor faucet and additional labor. Hello bait & switch. It's an absolutely shady deal from the start. What additional work is there? The deal I purchased included all parts and labor for an outdoor faucet replacement. I understand if there were a charge for an 'upgraded' faucet that I chose to purchase, but additional labor for it? The plumber was there a grand total of 30 minutes... Ten of which was spent in the truck. So 20 minutes of labor to change an outdoor faucet will cost you $217 from this company, not the $89 deal that included parts & labor. The man who performed the work was very nice & performed his job well, I don't have any issue with him or his work. My issue is with the company, if it's not possible to install the faucet you advertise due to code then why advertise it? ** Update ** I went to my mothers house this weekend (June 16) & looked at the faucet. I turned the hose on & saw that the new faucet will gush water out its handle until the pressure is relieved by turning the water on at the other end of the hose at the nozzle. The faucet can't hold any pressure. I've never seen this happen before. Update #2. In an effort to work this issue out I went though the Angie's List Big Deal complaint office. I received ONE call from the Angie's List rep (Shawna White) and I called her back not once, or twice but five times over the past month. I have not received any return call. I leave messages every time I call. This is crazy, what good is the dispute resolution that Angie's List offers if they don't follow up with calls????? Update #3. It's September & my issue has not been resolved.

Beware! Beware! .... I purchased the $89 outside faucet replacement on Angie's list Big Deal.. When the Plummer arrived he indicated he had to cut a hole through the inside wall in the family room to get to the outside faucet to replace it. My house is only nine years old and I could not perceive why one would have to cut through the drywall from the inside of the house to get to the outside faucet to replace it. I did not agree to that method to replace the faucet.. as an alternative he indicated he could replace the parts and repair my existing faucet for an additional cost. He replaced the parts to the existing faucet for a total of $313.20 ($224.20 + 89.00) The worker was professional, courtesy and a likable guy... the problem is a job that was suppose to be $89.00 listed as an Angie List "Big Deal" ended up being $313.20 for two replacement parts to repair the existing faucet ....when a brand new faucet, labor and all was only $89.... Figure that one out!

I used an Angie's List Big Deal special offer for this service. I think I ended up paying additional money over the $50 Big Deal price. I remember this being somewhat of an issue and the plumber having, somewhat, of a different interpretation of what the Big Deal $50 meant. He brought out a commercial grade auger to unclog the toilet so there were no parts involved, or anything like that. This was the first time I used them and they thought the Big Deal meant one thing and I interpreted it to mean another; that was the problem.
Description of Work: I used ARS / Rescue Rooter Columbus to unclog our toilet.

Well, I purchased the Angie Big Deal coupon for replacing an exterior faucet for $89.00. I called the company ARS Rescue Rooter and set the appointment up for last Friday 5/31/2013 for ;00 PM. Around 3:30 PM, I called the company to see what the problem was and if they forgot about my job. The person on the other end of the line stated that they got behind in some work and "was just about to call me" to reschedule. So I rescheduled for the following Monday for 10:30 AM. Around 11:30 I agained called the contact number and the receptionist stated that the technician was about to pull up to my house. At 12:15, I called back and spoke to another person who was in the office "stopping by".. He said that the board shows the technician has been at my house for over 20 minutes. News to me since I was in my yard. Just then the technician walked up the drive and intorduced himself as Allen. This is where this event gets interesting. I told Allen I purchased the exterior faucet replacement for $89.00. Allen then said "well the ad was wrong." Allen said that his company from out west placed the ad with Angies list and it is a sillcock replacement for $89.00 not a faucet but his company would not recommend a sillcock for this area of the US since it could have a freeze problem in the winter. Allen then stated that the company was recommending a faucet for an additional $61.00, 1/2 off thier price. I told Allen that sounded like a 'bait and switch " scam and that is illegal in most states including Ohio! Allen stated the the PICTURE in the ad is for a sillcock not a faucet. I countered by the ad said hose faucet replacement. I called the contact number, spoke to the receptionist and asked for the contact person, Jason Norris. The receptionist stated Jason Norris could not take my call at this time. I then asked for Mr Norris cell number which I was told was not for distribution. I handed the phone off tho Allen who walked away from me with my phone. while talking to the receptionist. Allen returned, handed me back my phone then his phone rang, its was Jason Norris. Allen let me speak to Mr Norris who told me the same tale as Allen did about it was Angies List's fault for this mix up but his company would galdly put on the frost free faucet for the additonal charge. I relented and agreed to the $61.00 charge. Allen went right to work after writing up a new invoice for me. The techncian,Allen, seemed to get the job done OK. After the work was completed Allen said he had to install a shut off near the faucet since he didn't want to sweat pipe near the exterior of house possibly causing a fire. He asked for the coupon which I had to print down stairs where my computer was located. Allen stated he didn't know my house had a basement he thought it was a slab house and if he knew that he could have ran a single pipe instead of putting a shutoff valve on, adding another solder joint and possible leak point. I asked him why he didn't asked and Allen countered why didn't I tell him. I paid the extra cost and Allen went on his way with a handshake and sorry for the misunderstanding. When Allen left , I went to check out the faucet and observed rusty, copper handprints all over the siding where Allen worked at and then saw that one of the screws to hold the faucet had a stripped head(another potential problem down the line) and sticking out about a 1/8 inch, not flushed with the mounting. So in a nutshell this was not a good expierence at all. EIther the company misled with the ad or the ad was placed in the wrong section of the United States, whichever I would not recommend this company

BUYER BEWARE if you are East of the Mississippi or North of the Mason Dixon!!!! The $89 outdoor faucet replacement is NOT frost free!!! Turns out, that actually costs $289. Because I purchased an $89 "Angie's Deal", they only charged me $149... too bad it was too late to say no. They were actually very good about scheduling and calling when they were running late. The worker was very corteus and a likeable guy.... just have to wonder what happened to their "$89" deal.

They were pretty expensive for one thing. They got here at 3:30 in the afternoon and we showed them what we needed to get done which was about fifteen minutes. He started with the sink and needed to go get something. So he left and was back after an hour or so. He walked in and said he had got the wrong ones so he went back again for an hour and got back. He started the work again and did the toilet and the place was flushed out in five minutes. He spent a little time working on the project and charged us $750 and gave us a certificate of $570. He charged us within the book he referred to but I wouldn't use them again. They were responsive as they came the same day.

I contacted my home owners insurance and in turn they told me to contact ARS Rescue Rooter. They came out and gave me estimate of the problem with my kitchen sink. They arrived in a timely manner, the service tech was professional and courteous, and explained in detail what the problem was. Since the issue was with a worn out faucette and had nothing to do with my water lines and would not be covered by my insurance, I decided get a few other estimates on the work because I felt ARS Rescue Rooter prices were a little high.

Rescue Rooter was my 2nd call made. They came out promptly, I provided the information that the technician from Columbia Gas had left me and he knew right away what to do. He quoted me a price of $825.00 to repair 11 leaks and bring the work up to specifications by removing old piping and adding shut off valves to the two gas appliances. The job took 3.0 hours to complete. He ran 4.0 tests to make sure all equipment was working propery and all leaks were repaired. As a member of Angies List I received a $100.00 discount.. The technician, Montana, was professional, explained everything so that I could understand, neat and courteous.

We had smelled sewer odor in the basement of our 50 year old home by a drain. After trying to pour water down the drain thinking the trap was dry, the odor still was there. The first company we contacted did not return our call. We called ARS Rescue Rooter at 10am they came out within 3 hours. The Technician Montana was very friendly, knowledgeable, and cleaned the debris out of the french drain that we did not know the purpose of. He explained the functions of the drains we had questions to, and his recommendations for the job. He gave us an tentative estimate for future work that we will get to in the Spring. The technician answered all our concerns and we will recommend this company to anyone looking for a reputable company that is quick to respond very skilled, and fair priced. The french drain is now capped as well as our clean out trap we thought was a regular drain. Good thing as we needed to cap that one shut. If you are a new homeowner as we are, I would recommend them. We just didn't know about drains and there functions. Also old homes do need upkeep in the plumbing area as we found out! Thanks Again for fast friendly service!

After purchasing the deal, I called to see if they will service a dishwasher. The representative advised that they would send someone out to make sure that they could do the service. I had to push the issue and tell them that I didn't want to waste my time and theirs by having them come out to tell me that they couldn't do the work. After my additional query, the representative told me that they in fact do not service dishwashers. I was disappointed that I had to press the issue instead of them being up front about serving my needs.

The technician who came out took a look at it, and also began to evaluate everything else about the setup. He noted that the house was out of code (it was built in 1959), so that in order to replace the hot water heater, which he "confirmed" was leaking: All of the piping would need to be redone in the utility room housing the hot water heater A valve would have to be installed to reduce the pressure under 60 PSI A permit would have to be acquired to do all the work There would be charges to even remove the water from the existing heater A sub-pump would need to be installed with a small pipe pointing to the outside, as our utility room is now essentially in the middle of our house, a result of a house addition done well before we moved in. Note, we have a slab! All in all, they estimated that it would cost $1,600. and that's after the home warranty! Before it, due to the charges that AHS "mandates" they charge, it would have been about $2,000. We ended up getting a second opinion, and found out that because this technician didn't take the time to look at the piping, he never saw that a pipe above the hot water heater was leaking onto the hot water heater, and water was then dripping down to the floor. He was so busy looking for the forest of charges he could bilk out of AHS (and in turn us) that they missed the tree in front of them! Basically, after this experience, and after reading other reviews on this site in regards to how experiences have gone for people who get Rescue Rooter through AHS, they treat them as second-rate customers, and use a radically different rate scale that they say AHS dictates. In either case, I don't think it's right on Rescue Rooter's part to treat these customers in this manner, as they lose great opportunities to make for themselves permanent customers. As a result of their very lackluster estimating and analysis of my issue, I will not be using them in the future.
Description of Work: Rescue Rooter was sent out by our home warranty company (American Home Shield) to check a possible leaky hot water heater, as that's how it appeared to me as the homeowner.
