When we hired Armstrong, the owner of Armstrong said that he didn't think that he could add grounding to the 2 prong sockets without running new wires. I said, we didn't want to do that right now. Then he came back the next day and said "Oh, you have metal sheathing, so we can run off of that." I didn't know it at the time, but he was lying. There is no metal sheeting. I just found the lie today. Today when I went to replace an old plug, I found that what he actually did was connect the ground to the neutral so that the electrical tester would show everything was grounded, but it wasn't. This wasn't a simple mistake: any electrician would know that this is not code: it is really dangerous. He had two guys working on our house for a little over a day, saying they were grounding. But there is no way this little jump wire would have taken that long to install. This is a slimy trick a dishonest person would do to get a house to pass inspection. He charge us $1200 for this work. It has been too long to go back after him.The other work was also done poorly. The garage lights would not work. I don't think they even tested them. Finally, I don't think he pulled any permits, since I can't find a record of a permit being pulled at the city.
Description of Work: We hired Armstrong to1) redo the main service on our house 2) add grounding to all our 2 prong sockets and 3) redo the wiring to our garage.

They were terrible! With the exception of one employee who worked extra hard to figure out wiring for old doorbell and another employee who was actually pleasant, I hated having them in my home. The owner was rude, abrupt and never smiled. His employees were generally cocky and often left the work-site without announcement leaving critical tasks undone. Disconnected outside lighting when asked not to, cut cable and phone lines because they "thought we wanted them cut," improperly wired for oven and tried to blame homeowner and contractor for mistake then told us "it will be okay" (this mistake repeatedly tripped a circuit and they had to come out to rewire!) bandied about phrases like, "that will void your warranty," didn't hook up A/C to circuit breaker when installed so when summer arrived and we turned on our NEW A/C and it didn't work; we thought it was the HVAC contractor who messed up. NOPE! Had to call the "bad electrician" to come back one last time. Glad we're done with it all
