The owner (Mike) was kind of hard to get hold of, but always extremely helpful. The installer (John) was professional and quite friendly. No problems at all, unless you count water dribbled through the house during removal of the old system - easily cleaned up. I'm not entirely convinced the Big Deal actually saved me anything, but the total price was acceptable. We'll continue to use them in the future.

When I first met with Bob, the Aqua System's sales rep, I was pleased by how helpful he was. He talked me out of a more expensive system by explaining that the two-tank system was really more than I needed for our home, and he was right. We discussed where to install the water softener, and I pointed out a location by the furnace and water heater, which he said was totally doable. We also discussed water supply to the outside of the home. I wanted the outside water left hard with new plumbing installed to separate it from the soft water lines. Again, Bob said it was fine and would add no additional cost. I was very pleased after sealing the agreement with him. However, his sales pitch took a darker turn once the installer arrived. The installer and I entered my basement, and I explained to him where I wanted the softener installed. He immediately said it couldn't be done. The water entry line was on the other side of my half-basement, and he said the softener had to be installed by the water supply. I thought that made sense, though I was irritated that Bob had told me otherwise. We continued are conversation as he prepared to get started, and I mentioned the new plumbing for the two outside lines. The installer stopped and again said this couldn't be done without a significant increase in cost. We had a bit of a stand-off as I explained what Bob had told me. At that point, the installer said this infamous line - "See, he's just the salesmen; he doesn't really know what we can do." After that, I made clear that I had not paid for anything and could easily find another vendor for a water softener. The installer excused himself while he went outside and called the local franchise owner. A short time later, he returned and said the owner would accept the terms Bob had negotiated. Though he stressed that Bob had done this before (misstated what could be done) and should know better. The rest of the install went relatively smoothly, but the first tank the installer tried had a faulty seal and leaked all over one side of my basement. The owner delivered a new tank within a short period (he and the installer besides the first argument were both very nice), and the install continued. After the install, my wife and I were very pleased with our new water softener. There had been a bit of a hassle with the install, but unforeseen things always happen, right? However, that wasn't the end of my fun with Aqua Systems. About a month or so after the install I received a letter from Aqua Systems corporate offices stating that I owed them an outstanding balance of $10.50, and they would report me to a collection agency if the payment was not made promptly. This made no sense since I had paid in-full with a credit card to the installer. He had to call their offices, give them my credit card number, and had me sign a contract for payment. I figured it was just a mistake, so I called and spoke to a rep who assured me it was all a mistake and she would handle it. She was very friendly, and I was happy to be done with that problem. But that wasn't the end. A month or so later, the letter was dated Oct. 23, 2012, I received another notice stating that I owed Aqua Systems $10.50 and would be reported to a credit agency if payment was not received by Nov. 6, 2012. Furious, I made the call back to their corporate offices this morning. The customer service rep, Dawn, was very friendly and assured me everything would be taken care of this time. There was no record of my previous call, she said, and no way of knowing who hadn't done their job the first time I called. But, honestly, I didn't believe her, and I told her as much. I asked to speak to a supervisor and ended up talking to Stacy (I wrote names down this time), who identified herself as a Credit Manager. She has again assured me the bill is taken care of and notes have been added to my account to assure the $10.50 charge really, really, REALLY, is removed from my account and I won't have my credit affected by a fraudulent delinquent payment claim, but I don't trust her either based on my previous experience with the company. She did offer to send me a notice stating that I do not owe any outstanding funds. Actually getting that letter will go a long way toward proving Stacy's trustworthiness. After reading all the positive reviews of Aqua Systems on Angie's List, I was thrilled to do business with them. While I am very happy with my water softener and reverse osmosis drinking water system, overall, I am unhappy with Aquasystems, and I wanted to give possible consumers a word of caution. If everything goes right with your install, I am confidant you will be happy with your water softener and drinking water system from Aqua Systems, but don't look at all the positive reviews and assume that everything will be as advertized. I hope that I was just the exception, but considering all the lies I've been told by the sales rep and their customer service reps along with with the initial attitude from the installer ("See, he's just the sales rep; he doesn't really know what we can do."), I doubt I am the only one with concerns about the integrity of Aqua Systems in Columbus.

Member, I first want to say I am sorry and apologize for your experience with the follow thru of our company. We are human and do make mistakes and hopefully we can learn from this one and improve on our services in the future. I do want to give our side of what we have tried over the last 3 months with no response than this initial post. Our local manager Mike Jackson has made numerous phone calls and sent a letter to you and apologized for all of the miscommunication on our side. To date we have not had any response. Stacey did credit off the $10.50 from your account and sent you a letter stating this. Also, in the letter we sent you an additional salt coupon for free salt; I hope you received this. I would like to say I do challenge you on one comment in your review. I stand behind the positive reviews Mike and his team have received and I do take exception to you challenging the integrity of our employees and practices. I recently read you posting on Angies List regarding Aqua Systems and wanted to write this letter to you to hopefully clear the air... While your posting shocked me, you do have some valid points. We did have some miscommunications through the process but in the end we took care of you with a professional installation and experience. The salesman, Bob Miller represented Aqua Systems in a professional manner, even though he had some confusion on the placement of the unit. He notified us of the placement of the unit and the tie end of the outside water lines. The installer determined his recommendation of placement of the system would not work due to the way your plumbing was configured. At this point the installer should have installed the unit without asking for additional money for the separating your outside hose bibs. Our mistake. When I was notified of this I told the installer to head to the store to pick up the additional piping and get the job done. The installer’s job is to do the job, not discuss this with the homeowner. It’s not always an easy process determining where the unit is placed. I know we had an additional problem with the top tank leaking due to a missing o ring from the factory. I immediately delivered a new top tank and reviewed the installation. Everything looked great. At this time you never expressed to me about any problems. Now to the billing. I rewrote the contract to include the faucet and the extra free salt. The total on the new contract came out $10.00 less. Unfortunately the original contract was sent to billing showing you paid $10.00 less than what was due. Again our mistake. I should have been notified by our billing office but it didn’t happen. I know this creating aggravation for you and I apologize. I have talked to our salesman, installer, and billing department to get a clear understanding of the situation and have implicated some procedures and safeguards so this never happens again. I am sorry for you negative experience but wanted to let you know we are not liars and, nor did we intend for this to be a bad experience. The job went very well. The connection to the water pipes was a little more involved but they worked it out and it looks good and performs well. I am very pleased with the softener and purifier. It is really making a difference in my home.

Great. I couldn't be happier with the performance of the filtering system (Eradicator II AIF, Air Induction Filter System, Iron filtering system) to; remove the odor, eliminate the brown staining of the water and improve the taste of our well water. The installation was first class. We had plastic piping and it wasn't the most organized. John the installer removed it and installed all new plumbing from the holding tank through the new filtering system and past the existing water softener. I'm not a plumbing pipe junkie but the plumbing looks like an work of art compared to what it did look like.I have been dealing with Aqua Systems/The Water Source since the middle 1990's and they have been very good to work with and I would highly recommend them.Everything they informed me about (performance and installation) went exactly as planned.

Started a little slow responsive wise due to the company assuming I lived in Indianapolis from my cell phone area code, but the customer sercice at the main branch was execllent. We have had RO systems in prior homes and knew what we wanted and what we didn't want. This was the first company I called that didn't try to 'up-sell' me on things I told them I didn't need. Their pricing was straightforward and they even beleived the cheapest option was the best, however we went with a higher option. The installer was execellent. Friendly and curtious and was on time. We are very happy with the finished product and are loving the pure taste of water again. It turns out this company supplies a lot of other local providers of RO and water softner systems so you cut out the middle man if you give them a call first. If you want straightforward pricing and a solution that meets your needs and not a sales goal, I recommend this company.

After living with hard water and associated issues (such as scale on fixtures) for ages, I started looking into water softener solutions. I stopped in to the showroom to ask some questions and have my water tested. Mike was extremely helpful and informative, and didn't try to sell me more than I needed. I decided on Aqua Systems primarily because of the appeal of the one-stop shop (they sell, install, and service all of the equipment), but their outstanding ratings certainly played a role, as did the Big Deal found on this site. The technician was a shade early for the appointment, and once we had decided on the proper spot to place the unit (near the main water pipe, the sump pump, and a power source), installation was pretty quick. He cleaned up everything and was on his way. The system has definitely been worth the expenditure. The shower is cleaner, skin is less dry, and the only question has been why I didn't do this sooner.

We had issues with city water since moving here 5 years ago; gray laundry, itchy skin, soap film buildup in showers and clogged pipes. I did a lot of online research into water softening systems and decided that it would, at the very least, mitigate those issues. I checked Angie's List for several of the top companies and checked out their systems and customer comments. I went to their store to talk with them about their equipment options and installation and decided they were the right people to do the job. Even though Aqua Systems was not the cheapest, I chose them for their exemplary rating and the quality of their equipment. Their store is on my daily route to and from work, so picking up salt will not be out of the way. If I want, they will even deliver salt and carry it to my basement. They arrived promptly on the scheduled day and time, and quickly brought in the system and hooked it up. The installer was very polite, cleaned up after himself, and took time to answer all my questions and show me how to take care of the softener. These people demonstrated how they earned their stellar rating on Angie's List. The results of having soft water are amazing. Itchy skin cleared up almost immediately, showers stay clean, clothes are brighter and no longer have spots, and glassware that had started to become cloudy looking is noticeably more clear. I wish I had this done 5 years ago.

The experience was positive but I just decided that there were too many things at the end of the year in the new house that I moved into and I did not want to spend money just to have the system switched over. I will probably use him. The owner came out and we had a good talk. He was very personable and had a lot of information for me. I plan on using him probably this spring which is when I am going to have the system done.

I've used them for several years. My experiences overall have been very good. I would recommend them to anyone. He is honest and he was able to troubleshoot the problem pretty quickly. This is the first time I've had any issues and they took care of it.
Description of Work: I used Aqua Systems to do a repair that was under warranty. There was a piston in the top of the charcoal water filter that was leaking and he replaced that. They were the original installers of the water softener several years ago.

I had a couple of quotes and aquasystems came in much much cheaper than the competition. It was actually so much cheaper I got nervous as to why. They use Fleck systems which technically you can buy online and install yourself for even less money, but the systems are highly rated and they obviously score high on Angie's list. The price did go up from what they have listed on their website as we have a large home with many showers so we were concerned that the unit could put out enough flow. They ended up doing a custom unit for us. They original sales person came out to our house and was as non-pushy as you can get. A huge and welcomed difference from the competition who looked around our home and seemed to size up what they could "quote" us. A single guy came out promptly, took off his shoes (I'm a neat freak), and installed the system. He did a very nice job, though it took longer than expected. Nearly 7 hours. As I said, it was a large system and it was his first time installing it. They did not test before or after hardness which would have been nice, but I can tell a difference so I believe everything is working alright. I might go ahead and test it. He guessed at what hardness level to set the softener at (20 grain). The unit has worked fine and he tucked it nicely in a corner of the basement. It has read "low salt" a few times and I just reset it. there is salt and does not appear to be any "cave" so if it happens again I'll have them come out. At the end of the day, I can buy this system twice for what the competition wanted. It might not be the fanciest and sure they didn't test my water, but for $3000 it does what it is supposed to and I'm pretty sure a hard water test is cheaper than 3 grand.

The company did not perform and services. It was nice that they did not try to sell me something I did not need.
Description of Work: Went to store with sample of my water. Testing was done on water, and it was determined that it was soft enough that treatment was not needed. Also, tested for iron in water. Serviceman at store did not know cause of stain in toilets. Received call from another serviceman later, explained what the problem was and how to fix it.

I wish I had known about this company years ago! When I called Aqua Systems, Mike was patient, knowledgeable, and helpful with my questions and concerns. Arthur came out the same day to have a look in our basement to see if or how installing a softener would work (since our water coming into the house is in a finished section and the only drains are in the unfinished section), and said he could tie into the existing sink drain near where the water comes into the house. I talked with Mike again and set up an appointment for installation the following week. Arthur was prompt, skilled, polite, and friendly. I am so pleased with this company and pleased to have soft water. A definite plus is not having a salesman come to my home, Aqua Systems' price was the best I'd found. I would - and will - recommend them to everyone I know.

Things were wonderful. The representative on the phone, Jeremy, was just wonderful and nice as could be. Jeremy was extremely knowledgeable about the system. The installer was Arthur, and he did an outstanding job. He was personable, knew the system, and it didn't take him long to put it in.

Their price is fairly standard. They charged $1499 for the iron filter and $500 for the reverse osmosis filter. They did give us a small break off everything, so we got 2 things at once. The company was fine. They came out and tested the water. They recommended a system and installed it. Everything was the way they said they were going to do. One of the things that I thought I would need was a spin down filter, but they said I didn?t need one. They didn?t recommend any I didn?t need. They replaced a faulty pressure gauge on my pressure tank for free. We didn?t know how to fix the iron bacteria problem, but the iron filter works great. When I was online, I couldn?t find any information on why they don?t actually work because it is a fairly new system. One problem I have had with them is they keep sending me a bill for a service that I didn?t get and it is just a tiny bill. If it comes again, they will take care of it. I would use them again.

The parts are all separate components and easy to replace/exchange. First years service included. Mike was quick to respond to an estimate with detailed info-not pushy. Arthur did the install and figured out an alternate way to run the reverse osmosis to the refigerator water/ice hookup. Excellent installation. They are very neat and clean and explain how everything works. They call if they will even be 5 minutes late. Highly recommend this company!
