I hired API security while I was in Columbus to help me at the Quarter Horse Congress show. They were more than happy to book my security officer, and gave me every reason imaginable that they would do a great job. However, that was not the case! Jason, who claimed to be the chief of police in Columbus, Ohio took my cash and sent me a subpar at best what they deemed to be a security officer (instead of himself). The security officer showed up 1/2 hr late, did nothing but talk on his phone, sit down in a chair at the bar or stay outside. He did not watch any of my customers or do anything Security related. I have asked for a refund repeated times but I have been told no, even though nobody showed up for the subsequent shifts that I paid upfront for. PLEASE do not hire this company! They are complete and total scam artists, liars, and horrible business people. I have been trying to resolve this for a month now trying to get a refund due to their non-performance. Had I paid for this on my credit card I would've already had a refund. But since I paid cash, they are refusing to acknowledge the fact that they did nothing on their part to earn it. I would give them zero stars, but it doesn't go any lower than one....BEWARE OF THEM!
Description of Work: I hired them to help me watch customers in my boutique, while at an out-of-state show. I paid them cash upfront, and no services were performed.

After a home fire and first robbery, API Security was hired to keep the house safe. On their first night of duty the house was broken into where robbers took their time going through the house then exiting the house through a dead bolted door which they knocked the lock out and then had to go through plywood screwed over the door. They left by way of the back yard where API guards were told to be stationed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

In response to Member Wetmore concerns. API was in contract by other individuals / company to monitor a home fire watch. In further investigating the alleged breakins, it was determined that we were never contracted by any homeowner and these alledge breakins took place previous before our presence in performing our duties that were provided by the company representating the homeowners. During the time period, there were multiple homes involved and between relatives, movers and other unknown individuals API wouldn't have taken on those additional risks and be non-responsive to the needs of persons who had lost there valuables due to fire. API regrets any mis-information from associates that was preiviously provided to unknown persons and management had no written knowledge of these concerns until late Novemeber and fully investigated the concerns to bring a summary at this time. API would have taken additional steps in protecting one's property and be more responsive when the scope of work was expanded to where the lodge of the complaint had been written on Angies list. Lastly, at no time has Member or anyother homeowner ever made direct contact to our offices regarding this complaint and API shouldn't be held accountable by those individuals that never had a direct contract. API would ask Angies readers to weigh in and allow us to provide our services that we have done over the last 22 years to 100's of clients and look forward in serving you in the future. Thankyou

An installer came to my home. He proceeded to drill a hole in the hardwood floor and then could not use it. He informed me that my old system only needed a new plug, riped it out and used it's wiring. Once everything was set up, he could not figure out why 'central station' was not receiving the signal. He took out the new keypad I paid for and installed a cheaper model and tried it. Still with no luck, my home was not being monitored. He then informed me that he did not know how to change the master code and other passwords. The system remained unmonitored with the default pass code for one month. In the meantime intruders continued to come in my home. API would not return my calls and only called me after I contacted the attorney general's office. I was told that I would not have to pay for the month of November to compensate for what happened. Monitoring was supposed to be $25 a month. I just received a bill for $133.44 for 2 months service (November and December).
Description of Work: A security system was to be installed in my home on October 3, 2007. Because of the age of the old system, they said they would have to replace it and I agreed to it.

[member name removed] concerns are false on many accounts, our associates went beyond the scope of work and she had other issues beyond what we were contracted to complete. As stated in our contract, installers at times have to drill through different floors, walls and other structure areas and we do our best to complete this work in a timely manner. As for the comunication piece, we had installed a cellular phone back-up and the cellular signal was weak. This is a growing concern for the security system and central station monitoring. In conclusion, we made every effort to satisfy her and many other clients and this was a un-fortunite situation in mis-communications on both parties. We value our clients, we have a strong management team and associates that does a outstanding job every day for API. We value Angies Lists and find that the buyers of today is well inform and we look forward in earning your business into tomorrow. API has been serving our community for over 22 years and we will be here for another 22 years. Give us an opportunity to serve you.
