From the initial call to Todd Mathews, to end of removal, they were nothing but courteous and professional. As it turned out, several of our neighbors ended up using them as well, as a result of their good estimate. They were prompt, fast, professional and did a good job cleaning up.

Todd came out and gave me a quote on the same day I called. The price was fair and based on the company's reputation on Angie's List I didn't bother getting additional quotes. He had a crew working in the area the following day and they were able to take care of the job much quicker than I had imagined. The tree was removed and the area cleaned-up better than before they started. If I need another tree removed or trimmed, I'll certainly call Mathews Tree Service.

The tree was cut down to my satisfaction quickly and easily! The area was cleaned up thoroughly and everything looked pristine when the job was completed. Communication was excellent. I received a free estimate and the tree was removed the very next day! I highly recommend this organization!

I called them up, had them schedule a time to come out and leave an estimate at my house. The price they gave seemed reasonable for cutting down the tree (around 15 ft tall), shave the stump down level with the ground, and hauling everything away. I called back several days later to say I would like to go forward. They had their crew come out 3 days later and they completed the work in around 2 hours and everything looked good.

Because this was the second year and they remembered the tree and location I was given a estimate over the phone, this we a call back less than 24 hours after I sent them an inquiry. They came the next day did a great job and left. 2 hours later I received a call from the owner saying the work actually was less than the estimate and they would be sending me a check for the difference. I would have never known the cost should have been less. So not only was Matthews responsive to my initial inquiry, came out and did the work quickly and did a good job, but had the integrity and good will to return some of my money since the job took less time than originally estimated. I would refer to them to anyone who is looking for great service and integrity.

Todd and his crew did an absolutely wonderful job!!!! Exceeded my expectations! Todd gave me an estimate in writing upon looking at the job. They arrived on time and promptly began. Very, very nice workers and good at their job! They have great equipment. I had electric line and TV cables running right through the trees and they were able to work safely around them with no problem. I also had trees in a chain link fence and they were able to remove those trees very close to the fencing safely. They did a fabulous clean up job - leaving my yard better than it was before!!! Highly skill, good pricing and excellent work....what more could you ask for!!! Thanks and I am already planning on your next job!

Our condo board hired Mathews tree service after receiving several estimates from tree servicing companies around Columbus. Their price seemed fair and I was impressed with Todd's responsiveness and his thorough estimate. Things changed the day of the service. When the guys came out, they were early and very friendly. They started working right away at 8am. Todd didn't show up with them but I didn't think much of that. I figured it was normal. I had to go to work for a couple hours and gave the payment to the foreman in case I wasn't back in time when they were finished. Shortly after, I received a phone call from Todd berating me (the customer) for giving the payment to his employee and not calling him first (???). The short of it was that he didn't want his guys to see how much he was getting paid for jobs and I should have called him if I didn't know what to do with the check. Any logical thinker would assume that it would be normal to give the check to the person that is there and overseeing the work, which happened to be the foreman. As a customer, this is unacceptable. It's not my problem if you don't trust your employees. We worked through it but I did NOT appreciate being yelled at and will not hire this company again. The crew did good work but completely unprofessional of the owner to act in such a manner.

They did a really nice job. They got back to me the next day and were on time, they also cleaned up.

my wife was very worried, because when the workers showed up it was raining hard off and on . she was scared the yard would become a mud bath ,and clean up would become a mess . Mr. Matthew tried to reassure us that the job was going well and clean up was no issue , but he did hold off on removing the stumps until a few days later when it was dry out . meaning he had two do two clean ups . Mathews men are very good workers ,even Mathew jumped in and helped with the mess clean up . He had some very big equipment to remove one stump , the right stuff to do the job ! After the job was done and his men packed up and left , Mathew stopped back to check the job sight to see if things got done right including the clean up . I have had cheaper people remove trees and stumps ,but not by much . They did remove the logs and trigs , cut ruts with trucks and machines in the yard ,. punched holes in soft ground with falling limbs and cleaned up nothing other than wood they could use or sell for fire wood then packed up and vanished . Not Mathew ,he did the whole job , if one of the days would have been dry he most likely would have been done all in one day ,he had his men work almost till dark in the off and on rain . I forgot my 5% off angieslist coupon but that was my fault , anyhow the should have got a 5% tip . Worked hard did a good job .

The work crew arrived about 7:30 a.m. to be followed shortly by Todd (Matthews). They did most of the cutting in about 2 1/2 hours, followed by clean up and stump grinding of the smaller elm's trunk. Todd was on site the entire time, directing the work as needed. I was impressed with the efficiency and expertise demonstrated during this job, and the price for the amount of work and equipment brought to bear on the task was very reasonable.

Excellent. I have used this company a couple of times in the past 2 years and they have always done a good job and have been punctual in arriving. Todd is very personable and likable. I've never had a single problem with this company and will continue to use them for all of my tree and bush pruning/trimming needs.

Excellent work. The owner, Todd, visited our house and saw our majestic oak with one of its major limbs hanging toward the ground when we let him know that it was time for the grand dame to come down. Todd offered a fair price which was in line with what we expected, and hoped, to pay. Because of his top ratings on Angie's List, we were comfortable agreeing to his estimate and signed the paperwork on his first visit. Excellent, happy attitude of all the workers. Excellent clean-up. Easy estimating process. Todd is very easy to work with and a pleasure doing business with. Todd was also on the job for much of the day but his main cutter and work crew kept working the same steady and strong pace all day whether Todd was onsite or not. They also trimmed 4 other trees that were included in the estimate. One tree is near the house with drooping branches that I didn't have much hope for lasting much longer. But, Todd and his cutter pruned it back away from the house and shaped it to the point where I am very happy and impressed with their skill. I believe the tree will grow straighter and taller due to their skillful pruning. They were also friendly and accommodating when I asked to take pictures and some videos. Our oak has been with us for over 14 years and at least a century and a half before that, so it was a "family event." Thanks Todd.

Got the estimate one day, took the tree down the next. I have used Mathews Tree Service 4 years ago to cut down 4 large ash trees that were dying. He did a great job then and a great job now. He beat competitors prices substantially and had all the right equipment to do the job safely and quickly and had a great team working with him. He had to work around shed, deck, sunroom and house. It's rare to find the whole package when hiring but I was ahead of the game, as I had used them before and knew the company cares about doing a good job and doing it right.

Todd and his crew have removed two trees for me now and ground out three stumps. Both experiences have been completely positive. I called on a Monday and he worked me into the schedule the next day since they were already scheduled to be in the area. They are fast but careful and do a good job cleaning up all the debris. There were flower beds near the work area and nothing was damaged. There were a couple of impact craters in the grass, but nothing very big or deep. They went down deep on the stumps, just like I asked. They are reasonably priced and everyone in the crew is very friendly. I will continue to be a repeat customer.
