They did a great job. We have a lot of high end furniture that needs to be moved carefully. It is also very heavy. They moved things carefully, wrapped them up so that they wouldn't break in the moving van, and unloaded and delivered in a professional manner. I highly recommend All American Moving and Storage. I have used them before and will use them again. Rick Gutridge

I'll start out with I expect a response from All American that will essentially say my expectations were not in line with what they had quoted me and I should have read the contract. The contract is not 100% clear and also I would expect the company to be more thorough with setting their expectations with customers. If the company agent had told me a breakdown of the move, move into storage, and the cost to move again from storage to my new home I would have been fine, but that is not the case. The lack of attention to detail from the former employee of the company caused huge issues with my move and made the time of moving into a new home more stressful than it should have been. From price to communication - my experience has been less than stellar to say the least. Well... to begin with it started out ok. I contacted online to get a quote. I received a response and reviewed it. It was about $500 or so less than the other quotes I had received so I decided to go with them. My original move to WV was about $300 less than the quote I received from All American. This move was an out of state move (back to Ohio) so they were to drive there in the morning, pack that day, then finish the move the following day. There was no communication from them until I called to find out when they would be there on the date of the move. We were told they would be there about 11 a.m. and waited and waited. I contacted the company about 11:30 to see if they were going to be there soon and was told yes. They showed up I believe it was about 1-2. I had packed everything so all that needed done was to load. The movers themselves were very nice and did a great job loading everything up. End of story for now since my items went to storage for 4 months. When I contacted to find out about setting up the final move into our home I was given a quote for an additional amount I was to be charged. When I questioned why I would have to pay I was told that my original quote was only for the move out and into storage and not into my home. I would expect this to be communicated to me by the company associate if I was going to have to pay again when I needed the final move. But, unfortunately, the employee who did my quote was no longer employed by the company. I went back and forth with them via email several times trying to resolve the matter. I eventually had to get a manager, Dan Dragin, involved to help figure it all out. He told me that normally the quote would include the move back into my home and was sorry that it was not. While I understand that people make mistakes, I expect that the company would stand by an employees statement. I was told in email at the beginning of the whole process that I would have no additional costs associated with my move. I understood this to mean that the price I paid in April was all I would pay. They understood it to mean that I had to pay for the move out of storage and into my home. To me it was 1 move with storage, to them it was 2 moves and storage and each action required payment. Dan did take care of the storage costs for us, which I expected to not have to pay for anyways, as from how I understood the contract it was included, but they interpreted it as an additional cost. We finally gave in and said fine since it was going to cost us more time and money to hire a new moving company. We decided to just have them unload everything the day of the move into our home into the garage with the exception of the big stuff. They arrived on time this time and the movers themselves, once again, were great. I helped them unload and it took about 2-3 hours total. There was one piece of furniture damaged, which were told it would be repaired and then delivered back to us. I asked about getting the furniture back in the email I sent to them when I found out about the final charges (1 week after the move). I was told it was being repaired and would be delivered back to me. After the unload was finished I signed the final statement showing a cost of $438. Which was fine since the orignal estimate from them was for $850-$1050. Though we ended up getting charged approx. $150 more than the price on the Bill of Lading. Apparently the Field Supervisor underestimated the charges and we were charged the additional amount... without being told they were going to. When I questioned them about it I was told that the BOL states that if the final charge is miscalculated it would be corrected (either up or down in cost). Which I would not have an issue with if we were told about it. Or at least if someone would have called and told us "hey, we made a mistake on the final charges and will be billing you roughly $150 more than the paperwork says"., but no they went ahead and charged without letting us know. Thankfully the funds were in the account. Back to my furniture I hadn't received yet... I got a call (I was unable to answer and called back the next day) about 2 weeks after the move and was told it was ready. After I called them back and spoke with a woman I was told they'd call back, which they never did. I had to call again today (3 weeks after our move in date) and was told they can deliver it on certain days of the week. I opted to just get it myself. I am ready to be one with them. To me it seems like communication and organization are not the company's strong point. My point is to make sure you read the contract and make sure it states, directly and very specifically, every little detail. I would ask for a detailed estimate of what the cost is for each stage of the move and for a detailed bill for each charge (only provided to me after I questioned the cost of everything). A more thorough setting of expectations and more detail in the contract could have eliminated this whole mess. Thankfully we are done moving and will not have to deal with them ever again. Of course after I finally get my furniture back 3 weeks later.

Dear Ms. [Member's name removed], I am sorry that you had a poor experience with our company, and that you thought you were to receive more total service than we quoted. Following is the quote that you received from our Employee Lee, and I will let the members determine as to whether or not we were clear in what we were providing you. I would like to state that the quote is in the name of who I assume is Ms. [Member’s name removed] significant other, as well as the fact that this is the TOP half of the FIRST PAGE of the quote, so that it is clear we are not posting any “fine print” or “end of page” text… DATE OF SUBMISSION: 2/25/13 PUCO# 147426-HG Your Relocation Consultant: Lee Paradise USDOT# 1239401 Emergency contact cell phone: 505.688.6263 MC 622491 Move Estimate and Special Considerations 1. I believe that it is also clear that there would be a charge for storage of your items, which I graciously waived in an attempt to reconcile your misunderstanding. If we were unclear with the above quote, then I sincerely apologize to you. I prefer to put everything out on the table so that the members can make their own determination as to how we handled our written communication to you. All American Moving and Storage is a great company with equally great people. I have used them on several occassions for a whole house move to moving one piece of equipment that was too heavy and bulky for my to do. They arrived each time on time, and are currently storing the items at their warehouse. We recently needed to do an inventory for estate purposes and they arrange an employee to help us get the information needed.

We are extremely satisfied with the entire experience. The company was very quick to not only provide a quote online, but also to send someone out to meet with us and go through the entire process and a more detailed quote, in person. They were able to accomodate the weekend we wanted (despite relatively short notice), with no issues. Packers came a day before the move -t hey were extremely thorough, wrapping all delicate items individually. The move took most of the day - I can't say enough good things about the crew of 3 movers. They were extremely polite, friendly, professional, and, most importantly, very efficient. They were pretty much going non-stop for most of the day, with almost no breaks in between. They managed to squeeze everything into 1 truck load, which saved us a lot of money and time. Nothing was damaged and the final cost came well within the quoted range. Moving is always stressful, but these guys definately helped to make it as painless as possible - could not have hoped for a better outcome!

Move from 2 bedroom apartment to small townhome. STAY AWAY!
Description of Work: I would not recommend this company at all! I used them for my first move from a very large 1 bedroom apartment into a two bedroom apartment. The cost came in around $350. Everything went smoothly except a broken lamp. So when I moved again I hired this company. I had not acquired many new items besides 1 dresser and a bed when I moved the second time. Some how the move took double the time, they wanted paid for their lunch break, and the cost was almost triple. I think the workers purposely took their good old time loading and unloading the truck in my new location. There was no reason the cost should have been nearly triple for only a bed and a dresser added to the mix. I did expect some increase in price but not triple! Then, when I tried to dispute the charges, the owner Dan (I think was his name), threatened to sue me if I wrote one negative review about his company. He also offered to give me a $150 discount if I would sign a waiver stating I wouldn't write a negative review. I wonder how many times this has happened?! I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. It has been 3.5 years since this incident and I am still upset at how horrible the customer service was. Oh yeah, and they held a lamp and a microwave spin plate (making the microwave unusable) until I paid. Slimy service and company. STAY AWAY!

When I first read this review on our company, I was adamant that member confused us with another company. Specifically due to the comment that I threatened to sue her and/or pay her off to not write a negative review. We checked our database under name, address, and even checked our 2009 schedule and found nothing. It WAS then verified that member was our customer under her maiden name, and at a different address. I would ordinarily address a negative review with the fact that we are a good company, we all have bad days, we tried to please the customer by doing x, y or z, etc. etc. In this case, though, I don’t believe we did ANYTHING wrong, which I hope you will see when I lay out the nuts and bolts of this “experience” with member. Before I do so, though, I am compelled to address this character assassination that is being levied against me in this review. At no time have I ever done anything so absurd as to threaten to sue over a negative review, nor have I ever even considered “paying someone off” to sign a waiver as she claims. This alleged behavior goes against my core values as a business owner, much less as a human being. I could certainly write more words attempting to “prove” I am not the type of person portrayed in member's review, but I guess it simply comes down to who you decide to believe after reading both sides of this story. Our “experience” with member is as follows: • We moved her in April of 2008 in 2 hours with 2 movers and 1 truck, for a total price of $275.01 • In April of 2009 member requested an estimate from our company by filling out our online inventory form. Based on the inventory she provided to us, we provided her a written estimate of 4-5 hours for 2 movers & 1 truck at an estimated cost of $485 at the rate of $93/hr. • After getting other competitive quotes, member's fiancé negotiated our rate down to $72/hr. Since we were coming out of our slow period, we decided to accept this rate, and provided another written non-binding estimate of $375 at the discounted hourly rate. • The move was completed on 5/11/09 after 7.5 hours of moving, for a total cost of $612. The member’s refused to pay their bill, citing that the move took too long. • Immediately after the move, we had our movers compare what was on the inventory list provided by member, and what they actually moved. • Following is the list of items NOT included on member's inventory list that she provided to us, to determine our 4-5 hour estimate: WELL over the 12 boxes listed, tents, ski’s, shoes, lamps, “lots of small items”, 10 pictures, dog cages, mirrors, and computers. NONE of which was listed on our inventory form, for which we actually have fields for many of these items. • Keep in mind that member was moving out of Brewers Yard in the brewery district, where there was a LONG push and an elevator to get out. The addition of her move inventory was exacerbated by the conditions at the move origin. • After comparing what was provided to us by member, and what we actually moved, we felt pretty confident that our original 4-5 hour estimate could have easily turned in to 7.5 hours. • Based on the fact that we had seasoned movers on the member’s job, that the members acknowledged they did NOT include some items on their inventory, and the fact that they were already getting a 23% discount, we held firm on our price. After all of this, my impression of member is that she is a very vindictive individual who likes to “win” at all costs, even if it means being dishonest. I base this opinion on the fact that she was not forthright with us from the beginning with what she included in her inventory, and then somehow thought that we should still honor a price based on false and inaccurate information. She did win in negotiating down our rate, but she did not win in further gouging us for an even lower price. Her “not winning” has prompted her to conveniently forget some of the facts surrounding her move, as well as dreaming up some very damaging accusations against me personally. This may not be a particularly “politically correct” answer to this review, but it IS the truth – all opinions aside. At the end of all of this, member maybe did win, as she has damaged our rating on Angie’s List, as well as potentially damaged my reputation in this open forum.

As I recall, there were some issues about them being late. They did call beforehand, and once they showed up, they were nice and seemed to do a good job. They were knowledgeable and careful with wrapping up the furniture in plastic and bubble wrap. I haven’t seen the furniture in about six years, but I do plan to get it out of storage some day.
Description of Work: About six years ago, they helped with a move. I was cleaning out my father’s apartment and there were only a few items I wanted to keep for myself. It was a short move. I still have some furniture stored as well.

American Moving and Storage was great. I had a limited time span to move, and they made sure to accomidate my schedule. The movers showed up on time and called me when they were 10 minutes away. They came in and looked through all the rooms (basement, first floor, and second floor). Upon estimation with my original call, they assumed I would need two trucks, the guys were such expert packers they got everything into one truck! They were very efficent and careful when moving the furniture. Everything was wrapped and padded and we had no destruction done to any of our belongings during the move. After getting everything moved into the new house, they made sure everything was put back together and boxes were in the proper rooms before they left. Also, they left no mess in the house when they left and took all their trash with them. I will definitely use them for my next move!
Description of Work: Everything was already packed in boxes. The movers came and did a walk through in the house with me and then started loading everything into the truck. we drove to the new property and they unloaded everything into the designated rooms. We were moving a 3 bedroom, 2.5 ba, 2 living rooms, 1 dining room, and patio furniture/grill to the new house.

This was a horrible experience. We were quoted a price and walk through with them. The price we paid was significantly higher then we were quoted, the only reason given was it was a hot day and it took longer then expected. They nicked up walls, the management was horrible to deal with and they never assisted anyway with the damages they caused.

They’re great! Because they’ve had a good reputation, they are one of the premier referrals for the board of realtors in Columbus. They were polite, professional, and showed up on time. Everything went well. I know a lot of people that have used them, since not only do they have moving services, they also have storage facilities as well. Sometimes they even offer discounts on storage. I’m a home stager, so if people need a mover or a storage facility, I recommend All-American Moving & Storage!

They were contracted by NVC Logistics to deliver my Tempurpedic Mattress. They Received it on 7/16, and called to make an appointment on 7/17, They claimed their first delivery opening was the 26th, (Today) from 930-1:30. I was not thrilled about the long delay for delivery but I accepted it. Now come Delivery day, First they were obligated by NVC to call 1 day before delivery to confirm times, they did not do this. Also in the Service agreement with NVC they were to call morning of delivery to confirm the delivery window. They again failed to do this. I patiently waited until 1130, when I called to inquire if the delivery was on schedule. I was told that nothing seemed out of the ordinary and I should have it by 130. Come 145 and still no delivery, so I called back and again inquired, they said things were delayed a little and to expect them by 330 and the operations manager would call me to confirm the delivery time. Ok, so I again wait until 350 (No call, no delivery) and call them yet again. This time I was told that they would get there when they can and that they never have these problems so I shouldn't be concerned in a VERY rude manner, because it's not All-Americans fault there are delivery delays (Up to this point there had been no weather or traffic issues in Columbus). I was also then told to expect a call within 30 minutes with a firm delivery time. After waiting an hour with no call, I call back at 430 and am told that I am a dumb "idiot" (I will not use the actual word they said) to expect that they should have kept me informed when they could not keep their delivery schedules. I finally got out of them that their drivers would be delivering today. I then waited and the bed was finally delivered at 730pm! 6 hours after their original delivery windows was past! After speaking with the driver they didn't even start until almost noon and my delivery was the last on their route! They had no shot at ever making it on time and All-American Moving Operations team KNOWINGLY LIED TO ME by saying that it would arrive before 130 the first time and 330 the second. A couple of quick disclaimers:At All-American the Customer Service agent April was as helpful as she could be given that her operations folks were not telling her the truth. Also the actual drivers were very professional and good natured, I can't give these folks anything but praise for their work. The major complaint is about the All-American Operations team managers that I am so disappointed with. (Both men I spoke to on the phone never once gave their names) I understand delays happen, and routes can get messed up, But Communication is Key, Had they bothered to contact me even once (They never called once after setting the appointment) to let me know about the delays I would not have rated them so poorly. But then I was told I was a, and I quote "Dumb S***", by one employee for thinking I deserved to be kept informed of my delivery status. I will never recommend them based on their operations teams customer service skills for ANY reason. I have also filed formal complaints with Tempurpedic and NVC Logistics to report this lack of professionalism as when buying such a pricey bed and paying for delivery you deserve a much better experience than I got. Also I feel that holding an item and waiting 8 days to schedule a delivery is unacceptable, this should have been delivered within 4 business days of receipt for good customer experience, but that's not a factor in this review.

Response from All American Moving & Storage
I would like to first apologize to the customer for multiple service failures on our part, and explain exactly what did and did not happen: Our company performs third party delivery service for several logistics companies – we do over 100 deliveries per week to locations all over the state of Ohio. Due to this fact, we provide 4 hr delivery windows, which vary depending on what part of the state we are delivering to. Our routing happens 1-2 days prior to the delivery date, and if the recipient’s routed delivery time falls outside of the window given on the date the appointment is set, we call them 1-2 days prior with the revised delivery time. Due to our increased volume in all areas of our business, we have had to hire some new staff. Unfortunately our latest staff addition, who is responsible for this task, did not follow through with this duty. Based on routing, the customer should have been called the day before his delivery with a revised delivery window of 2:30-6:30. He was not, and therefore expected his delivery at the original time given of 9:30-1:30. Our delivery team that day started off in the hole, and suffered some setbacks throughout the day. They got a late start in the morning, due to the fact they had trouble finding a piece they had to deliver that day. They were on the road at 10:15am – not at noon as stated by the customer – although it wouldn’t surprise me if the team DID tell him that to diffuse the situation while performing his delivery. Secondly, they had some deliveries that took extra time (furniture assemblies, etc.) that caused further delays, and lastly there was a BIG storm that afternoon, which set them back approximately another hour. Although our delivery team is responsible for informing their delivery customers of any possible delays, I would like to note that the delivery team was under the assumption that the customer delivery was to be between 2:30-6:30, and throughout most of the day imagined they would have no problem delivering within the time window. The BIG issue here lies with our delivery team’s lack of communication with James, our Operations Manager – for some reason we had trouble communicating with them, even though they all carry cell phones. James did his best to anticipate when the customer would receive his delivery based on the route, and where the guys were on the route whenever he could get a hold of them, but we were obviously way off. In response to this particular situation, we have addressed certain staff responsibilities, in an effort to avoid this ever happening again. I can only imagine how frustrating this must have been for the customer, and I sincerely apologize for causing him so much frustration. There are a few final items in the customer's comments, noting other service failures that I need to address specifically… • Comments by the customer regarding our service agreement with NVC (which I am curious as to how he got a copy of said agreement) o We are not obligated by NVC to call 1 day before delivery to confirm times. If the delivery window given on first contact with the customer is accurate, no confirmation call is required o We are not required to call the morning of delivery to confirm the delivery window • We were NOT paid $299 to perform this delivery, we were paid $87.75 • There was NEVER an issue, from his first call to our company, as to whether he was being delivered that day. We never gave any indication that his mattress never made it on the truck – the issue had to do with time of delivery. • Our staff DID NOT “knowingly lie” to the customer at any time. We gave the customer the best information we had, based on what we knew at each point of customer contact. • The only man that the customer spoke with at our company, outside of our delivery team, was our Operations Manager James. I know this because I was the only OTHER man working in the office that day. • Although I may not have heard every conversation James had with the customer, James’ office is right next to mine, and I DO hear his conversations. James has worked for our company for four years, and he is a VERY polite and honest individual. I never heard James call the customer a “dumb ____”, I would never imagine in a MILLION YEARS he would call ANYONE something like that, and we have NEVER had a situation where he has used profane or foul language, much less to a customer. James vehemently denies this accusation, and I have to say I have his back on this 100% - I do not believe that the customer is being honest with this statement, especially after reading some of the other mis-statements in his commentary. At the end of the day, we failed on several fronts with respect to the customer delivery, and we accept full responsibility for that. I apologize once again. We accept that we had a bad day, but I do not appreciate the attacks by the customers with respect to the integrity of our company. We do our best to do a superior job each and every day – most days we do that, but like everyone else, sometimes we make mistakes. I am proud of our A+ rating with the BBB, and formerly A rating with Angie’s List.

They are excellent to work with. The owner, Dan Dragen, is wonderful and the sales guy and the office staff have always been friendly and approachable. They take good care of your things and they are the kind of people you want to tip.

They scheduled us for Friday the 25th; they cancelled at 6 PM on the 25th. They were then supposed to show up between 9 & 10 on the 26th - arrived at 11:30 on the 26th. The driver & helper complained that we had too much to move for the three hours they "alloted" us; the driver and helper stood inside the truck for 30 minutes while on the phone. Nothing was damaged, price was higher than quoted and the driver & helper constanlty had their cell phones playing disturbing rap "music" while they moved.

It went perfectly. I've used All-American three times and in 2009 made the nearly disastrous mistake of allowing another "leading" company to do it instead. The difference was like night and day. We came directly back to All-American and, as usual, had zero complaints and aboundant praise. These guys go way above and beyond what's expected. You'd expect high turnover of employees in this industry, but All-American has very little -- firm testimony to the fact that they pay and treat their men well enough to keep the good ones from leaving. Do not consider another company. All-American's prices are very fair, but if anyone gives a lower bid, realize that the difference in price will be accounted for by using employees whose competence is very inferior to this company's. I can tell you from experience that those are NOT the people to whom you want to entrust the care of your precious household possessions. Let All-American do it and rest easy.
Description of Work: We had our household good moved into storage in January, 2009 and then delivered to our new home in May, 2010, 16 months later

I received 5 quotes and All-American was the highest initially, but was highly recommended from our realtor. They worked hard to come close to the lowest bid. They offered additional services to secure our business and re-wrote the contract with a guaranteed not to exceed of $1,347. They had trucks that did not start due to cold weather, and were 2 hours late in starting the move and had either not called the right number to notify me, or did not call. Once they arrived they new exactly what they were doing. The movers were amazing-working hard in cold weather, protected our belongings while maintaining a positive attitude, and very friendly. I had nothing damaged at all. After the move I had an issue with billing that took more than 3 calls to straighten out in addition to 3-4 calls to get the boxes picked up. I was disappointed that they did not communicate(on the contract)some minor fees(packing paper and tape)which added about $60 to the bill I didn't expect. To be fair I was told that information was in the sales folder, which it may have been, but who has time to read each sales folder in detail when they are prepping for a move? They were extremely cordial in earning my business, but just professionally polite and slow to respond when responding to my concerns after the bill was paid. They did a lot of extras, but I felt a little nickle and dimed at the end. I would recommend them, but not without getting other bids also.

The experience was great! I used All American because I'm a Realtor and heard about them through our concierge program. I got an in-home, guaranteed estimate which was great! I thought the personal touch in all aspects was just fantastic. They arrived on time, were professional, and I think even had fun! I appreciate they stress they took away from the move for my husband and I and would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: We hired All American Moving and Storage to move us from our old home to our new one. They did a great job and handled everything with care. The best part was that we didn't have to unpack our dressers, they shrink wrapped all of them with the clothes in and that saved us a ton of time! They also provided wardrobe boxes to use the day of the move which made packing our walk-in closet so much easier!
