Able Roofing

Went great! Roof was started when I left for work and done (including cleanup) before I got home from work at 5pm. Communication was great and Able followed up on any concerns immediately. We were very happy and the roof looks great! Our project manager always got back to us right away too, which put us at ease. As first time homeowners getting a new roof can be scary, so we went with an experienced larger company like Able Roofing because we felt like they would make things right and stand by the work....and the most definitely did! We were glad we went with them. No regrets at all here.

The roofing was removed and replaced in 1 day. The workers were kind and courteous. The gutter guards were installed a few days later.

Reasonable price for quality work. Project was completed in one day and workers were respectful of my home environment. This was second time I used this company to roof a home.

It was fine and they came and do the work. They were friendly and I don't have any issues now.

The roof was installed in 2004. I started to notice some small leaks but Able said it was not the roof. They did replace some vent boots but the leaking continues. I now have to deal with mold mitigation and am hiring another company t redo the roof as three different companies told me the roof is the problem.

Roof started leaking after Able installed it 10 years ago with 25 year shingles. Called Able and they sent a guy out to check the three leaks and he came up with all kinds of reasons why it was not their fault. He replaced a vent boot on one spot and that did stop that leak. Able did nothing to fix the other two leaks. Finally replaced roof this year and leaks are gone. So it was definitely the roof. Shoddy work.

They DECLARED the job complete after five months, but they never repaired exterior and interior broken trim, or replaced gutter guards. The porch roof does not drain into the gutters, but past the gutters and onto the ground. The exterior trim was broken in two places, and was never replaced. The trim on the interior of a skylight was broken and the nails used still extend into the living space. The gutter guards were removed and discarded despite communicating to the roofing crew that they were to replaced. There were multiple calls to their office. Because of the delay the 24 months same as cash became 18 months.

Met Able at the Columbus Home and Garden Show and explained the repair that I needed. Have holes in the Facia behind the gutters where squirrels and birds are entering. Assured that they can fix and they work in my neighborhood (slate roofs). Made an appointment on the spot and they showed up on time. Rich was professional and gave a written quote by the end of the day. I approved the contract and made a deposit. Like other reviews, then came complete silence... After a couple of weeks, I received a call that I would get a call from scheduling... never came. I then emailed Rich and he said be patient that it was in scheduling (ordering supplies). Nothing. Then today, after several weeks, I was notified that my job was being cancelled since they do not do work around slate roofs. Very disappointing and shocked since we had an onsite visit, approved a quote and then made a deposit.... Would never use this company again and would not recommend under any circumstance.

Horrible: the roof was poorly installed and required multiple subsequent revisions. Four skylight flushing had to be redone due to poor workmanship. Masonry work (fireplace and chimney) required to be redone as well. the price charged was, in retrospect, egregiously inflated, and an expensive window was damaged by the subcontractor and never reimbursed for.

The date promised to be done came and went with no phone calls from Able. Calls went unreturned. Everything blamed on weather. Told that they would be out there the next 2 days and no one came either day and no calls received with explanation. After repeated calls and threatening to go somewhere else, all of a sudden we get a call saying they will be there. We had asked for them to come out and tarp the chimney area so at least water wouldn't continue to leak into house and were told that couldn't be done. But then 2 months later, they came out and tarped it saying, it would be in the spring before they could come do the work, but then less than a week later, a crew show up. Hopefully, they didn't just rush to get work done, and they did things correctly. We were told temps had to be above 40 consistently and dry, and they weren't, which makes me fear we will have problems sooner rather than later. I understand that weather can be a factor, but we hired them in October and work wasn't begun until the end of December and 1st week of January. The lack of communication and the attitude of personnel when called was most disturbing. The entire job only took 3-4 days, but set us back months on renovations that couldn't be done until this work was completed.

A number of months ago and having done business with Able Roofing at a previous residence, I contacted the company to inquire as to whether the company offered repair services in an area located under roof gutters where birds had entered. A technician was deployed and fixed all areas where birds had entered and could enter. He took photographs to show his work. Since then no issues with birds. Well, forward many months, I observed a slow drip from the corner of a gutter. Because of the excellent service (e.g., roofing, leak, sunroof windows) over the years, I called just to see if Able Roofing provided any type of gutter repair service. My call was answered in a very positive, uplifting, and enthusiastic manner! Following an exchange of information, it was agreed that a technician would visit and explore my situation. It was agreed that it may be work that Able Roofing could not complete. I absolutely understood. On January 2, 2019, Chad (the professional who handled my bird problem) arrived. His inspection revealed that the gutter leak could be fixed and he subsequently made the repair. Both visits found Chad to be excellent in communication and eagerness to solve the concern. It is refreshing to engage in a positive telephone experience followed by exceptional performance in solving the gutter leak! I would recommend Able Roofing to any prospective customer and, most importantly, I will continue to call upon the company should any future roofing or related issues surface. I would use them for roofing service, but never again for siding. They kept telling me there were delays due to ordering materials. After putting off the job and subcontracting the job they did finally do the work. I finally spoke with Laurie Bougardt who got the ball rolling after who I was dealing with kept procrastinating and not showing up for scheduled appointments. I will not recommend using that particular project manager.

I bought a home with an able roof placed 7 years ago. I thought that a properly installed roof should be good well beyond 7 years, but turns out this roof is likely not properly installed. The roof is leaking in multiple places. Have had a few different companies out who are basically saying the underlayment placed on the roof is woefully inadequate and many aspects of a proper roof installation are shoddy or missing entirely. I even had able roofing out to look at the roof. The repair man, who I will add is very nice and tried very hard to be helpful, basically admitted when they first started installing cedar shake they used subpar underlayments and have since started installing thicker sheets because so many of their roofs were leaking. Also unfortunate is that apparently the roof only carried a 5 year warranty. The able roofing associate said he had no idea how to repair the roof his own company installed. Then he ran the project by his superiors and they said they were going to decline to repair OR replace the roof (even at my own expense). I talked to the gentleman I bought the house from and he said he had many issues with this roof immediately following installation as well. I feel the company likely had inadequate experience installing cedar shake roofing and now I am stuck with a roof requiring replacement 7 years after install and virtually no help or assistance from the company that installed it. Way to stand behind your product, guys. I would be hesitant to trust such a large investment (these cedar roofs are 20k + dollar roofs) to able roofing. Able estimator was the only one who crawled into the attic to confirm the source of the leak. Work was quick and efficient.

Initially we were very satisfied with Able Roofing--our quote was scheduled right away, the price was acceptable, and the person we worked with (Shannon) was great. But after we put down our deposit, things seemed to break down. The metal roof project manager was good about letting us know when he had been out to take photos and get the materials ordered/fabricated (about 4 weeks after our deposit), but after that it was radio silence. For a while that was okay, as they had said 6-8 weeks was the expected timeline. However, 8 weeks came and went with no scheduled date for installation or further contact from Able Roofing; at that point, I called and asked for an explanation and a date. I was told that they would have to check and get back to us; when they called back the next day, they gave a date that was another month out. (They also refused to call our preferred number--I had specifically asked that they call me rather than my spouse, and gave them the correct number many times; they still called the alternate number. This happened for the duration of our relationship with Able, despite multiple instructions from me AND this number being the one indicated on our contract.) I understand that delays happen in construction, but the complete lack of communication followed by an additional month of waiting for our project to be done is not acceptable. Furthermore, the project itself was lacking in communication also: on the first day they did the tear-off and left a note stating they'd return the following day to do the installation. After the second day, our roof was partly installed but no note of any kind was left offering an explanation, only spare metal left on our porch. We had to wait until the third day--on which no work was done--for a call letting us know what was happening. It turned out they were making custom pieces to better fit the shape of our roof, but it was frustrating to only hear that after them leaving an unfinished roof and no note! The scheduling left something to be desired, as our project kept getting bumped on workable days for other projects they had going on. Ultimately, Able completed the roof to our satisfaction and it looks wonderful. But getting there was not as straightforward as the initial meetings had promised. What we were told would be a 2-3 day job turned into as many working days spread out over 6 days. The lack of communication and 3-month wait turned a good initial experience into a much more negative one, despite our satisfaction with the roof itself.

I called to make the appointment & was happy when I got to speak with an actual person outside of normal business hours. The person I spoke with was very cheerful & happy to help me. On the day of my appointment, Chad called about 30 minutes before my scheduled time to say he was finished with his previous appointment early & if I was available he could come early. I was so he did. When he arrived I showed him our problem areas and he investigated the areas, took pictures on his phone & reported back to me. He showed me what was causing two of the issues and said one of them was a simple nail popped in the roof which he could repair. Another problem was something that he said we could remedy ourselves for less than $10, and the third issue was most likely an air conditioning vent issue. After spending about 1.5 hours here & fixing the nail pop he left with no charge-- I was shocked!!! Chad was very knowledgable and thorough, and very patiently explained every issue & what needed to be done to fix it.

It took me 5 months and a BBB complaint to get my property management company (Towne Properties) to contact Able for this issue. Ray Lawrence came out and determined that it was vent. Pipes leading to the vent had cracked. Even though it was really the Association's responsibility, Ray took care of everything. He had to special order a pipe to finish the fix. He was kind, patient, and very professional.

Roof consultant (Rich) arrived on time and provided an estimate within 2 hours of arriving. I contacted several other roofers and they either didn't provide a quote (after I called several times for a quote) or took several days to do so. Given I had storm damage from the storm that produced the tornado in Grove City, I was worried that all roofers would be booked for weeks. Able Roofing provided the quote the same day and was able to get me on schedule the following week, provided I sign a contact and make a down payment. Since I had an active leak that was staining the ceiling drywall, I felt a bit pressured to sign with Able, but they assured me I could cancel the contact before the start date and get a full refund. When the other roofers provided me quotes, they were all higher than Able, so I stayed with Able. The actual roofers arrived on the agreed start date and took care of the leak immediately. There was some bad weather, so the repair work was stalled and the repair time was over a week. Since the leak had already been fixed, the time line didn't bother me. I gave a C rating for professionalism because the roofers left some shingle remnants behind, cigarette butts, and scratched my painted gutters. They walked around the house several times with trash bags, but simply missed some trash. They were hard workers and did a great job, so I didn't really mind they were a bit unprofessional. I had touch up spray for the gutters, so I painted the scratched surfaces myself. The job supervisor (checked on roof after completion, but was not present during the project) was a pleasure to work with, and he would have had the workers paint the scratches...but it wasn't a big deal for me to do it.

Crew was on-time and did excellent work. Cleanup was meticulous. I have also used them once in the past and would do so again. Great company to do business with.

I moved into my house in 2014....Able Roof had put on a new roof in August 2012 for the previous homeowner. This past fall (November 2017), I noticed in one section of the house, there were water spots on the ceiling. I did some basic troubleshooting but eventually had to call Able Roof to come check it out. My hope was they would roll this into the 5-year warranty it came with, however, it had expired a few month before (August 2017). They sent someone out and he confirmed there were some bad shingles (approximately 8). He said the charge would be $450 to repair which I felt was high given the minimal amount of work. The estimator also mentioned the roof looked older than it said it was....which was concerning for me. It is now April 2018 (I got the 8 shingle issue fixed with a different contractor) and another part of this same roof is leaking bad by the attic exhausts. The leaks finally made their way through the drywall in the garage and creating large puddles. This will create two large patch jobs in the drywall once the leaks are fixed. My takeaway for those interested in using Able Roof. This was essentially a brand new roof when I moved in....but it didn't make it past 6 years. I was hoping Able would stand behind their work but it was going to cost me what I feel is an excessive service fee given this was originally a ~$25,000 roofing job. There is obviously some quality of construction issues on this specific side of the house, so I would likely not recommend their work for longer term durability.

Called Able to get an estimate on a new roof. They came out about 4 days later and were on time. Thoroughly explained it all too us and since this was our 4th quote on this project we went with Able. They called us back a day later to set up a time to install. Four days later they installed. Crew was courteous and kept the work area clean. They finished in one day and the supervisor came out the day after to check on job. Very satisfied and I would highly recommend!!

I've been waiting for over a year for this replacement. Every time I call I get an excuse. Many times my calls are not returned. This has passed the point of being ridiculous. I will not call them again. I hope you can help me get this resolved. Prior service from them has been good so I really don't understand the poor service this time. Very frustrating.

They were super nice and very friendly, however everything presented was Ala carte and pricey.

We did have really good luck with Able Roof. They installed some windows for us. We didn't get from Angie's List. Able Roof is good. They do more than roofs. They did odds. Like they replaced 13 windows. They replaced the garage door. They fixed some areas on our roof, so they did a lot of work. If "A" is the best, I'd give them an "A".
