TODD WAS THE ONLY ESTIMATOR WHO CLIMBED ON OUR ROOF AND LOOKED AT THE CHIMNEY. HE TOOK PICTURES AND SHOWED ME ALL THE LOOSE MORTAR. THE WORKERS DID A GOOD JOB AND CAME BACK TO WATERPROOF A SECOND TIME AT NO CHARGE - ON MY REQUEST. THEY POSTED A SIGN WITHOUT ASKING.
Description of Work: REFILL CRACKED MASONRY. REPAIR CROWN. PUT ANIMAL GUARD ON TOP OF CHIMNEY. WATERPROOF CHIMNEY FROM THE GROUND UP.

THE FASCIA BOARD COVER WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH SO IT WAS PIECED TOGETHER. AT BOTH ENDS OF THE PORCH THERE WAS A 2 INCH GLOB OF CAULKING. WHERE THE FASCIA BOARD COVERING WAS PIECED TOGETHER IT WAS CROOKED, AND THEY TRIED TO CAULK AROUND IT. THE COVER WAS ABOUT 3 INCHES TOO SHORT, IT JUST LOOKED AWFUL. IT DOES LOOK 100% BETTER AFTER THE SECOND CREW REWORKED IT. I DON'T HAVE 100% CONFIDENCE IN ABLE ROOFING. HAD WE NOT HAD THE CEILING OPEN ON OUR PORCH, WE WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN THE BOARDS WERE REALLY ROTTEN. WE ALSO DON'T KNOW THAT ALL THE ROTTEN BOARDS WERE REPLACED, I HAVE TO TRUST THE WORKERS. CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PARK THEMSELVES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE YARD AND WATCH PROFESSIONALS DO THEIR JOB. I FEEL LIKE THEY TRIED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF US, AND THAT'S NOT GOOD BUSINESS.
Description of Work: THEY INSTALLED A NEW ROOF. I HAD TWO ISSUES AFTER THE ORIGINAL WORK WAS DONE, A ROTTEN BOARD THAT WAS DISCUSSED AT THE ORIGINAL ESTIMATE, AND THE WAY THE ROOF FROM THE GARAGE MET THE PORCH. AFTER MANY PHONE CALLS, A CREW CAME OUT TO FIX THE WORK. THEY REMOVED THE RUBBER ROOF AND SHINGLES THAT THE ORIGINAL CREW HAD ROOFED OVER TO REMOVE THE ROTTEN BOARDS. I WAS SURPRISED THAT THE RUBBER ROOF WAS INSTALLED OVER SHINGLES, BUT I AM NOT THE EXPERT. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THE ORIGINAL ESTIMATOR SAID THE BOARDS WERE STRUCTURALLY SOUND. THE CEILING HAD BEEN REMOVED BY US, AND WE COULD SEE AND TAP ON THE WOOD. THE BLACK BOARDS WERE SOFT AND HAD BEEN EXPOSED TO WATER FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS. EVERYONE THAT LOOKED AT THE ROOF SAID THE WOOD SHOULD BE REPLACED. I AM HAPPY TO SAY THAT THE ROTTEN BOARDS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THE RUBBER ROOF REINSTALLED. THE SECOND ISSUE WAS THE AESTHETICS OF HOW THE GARAGE ROOF MET THE BACK PORCH ROOF. THERE WERE BIG GLOBS OF CAULKING EVERY SO OFTEN.

THIS WAS MY FIRST HOUSE AND THE ROOF WAS GOING TO BE A BIG JOB, SO I MET WITH MANY ROOFERS. MARK WAS IN THE TOP TWO. HIS TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE WAS GREAT. OUR SALESMAN DAVE WAS GREAT, VERY FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. THE ACTUAL CREW, HOWEVER, DISAPPOINTED US. THE WORK WAS SLOPPY. FOR EXAMPLE, WE NOTICED BLACK STAINS ON THE SHINGLES AROUND THE VENT PIPES AND WHEN WE ASKED ABOUT IT, THE CREWMAN SAID IT WAS ''SOOT FROM THE VENT''. THERE WERE SEVERAL AREAS OF FLASHING AND TRIM WHICH HAD TO BE FIXED EVEN AFTER REPEATED VISITS. WE HAD TO CALL THEM NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE WORK WAS TRULY COMPLETED. IT WASN'T UNTIL I E-MAILED THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY AND SENT HIM PHOTOS OF THE PROBLEM AREAS THAT THEY FINALLY MADE THINGS RIGHT. WE NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAD TO CONTACT THE PRESIDENT. OH, AND THAT ''SOOT''? IT WAS SPRAY PAINT. THE CREWMAN DIDN'T MASK OFF THE SHINGLES WHEN HE PAINTED THE VENT. WHY HE HAD TO LIE TO ME, I DON'T KNOW. THEY LEFT NAILS ON OUR PATIOS AND GARDEN BEDS, PLUS ALUMINUM GUTTER SCRAPS. FINISHED, THE ROOF LOOKED GOOD, BUT WHAT A HEADACHE. THEY CAME ON THE DAY THEY SAID WOULD WITH A CREW OF 10 MEN AND 2 MASONS AND FINISHED THE WORK IN A COUPLE OF HOURS INSTEAD OF THE 2 DAYS WE THOUGHT IT WOULD TAKE AFTER OUR LAST EXPERIENCE WITH A NEW ROOF. THEY NOT ONLY DID THE JOB QUICKLY, THEY FIXED OUR BROKEN, LEAKY CHIMNEY, CLEANED UP AND DISPOSED OF THE OLD ROOF AND USED A MAGNET TO FIND ALL THE NAILS AND REMOVE THEM FROM OUR YARD. THEY ALSO CLEANED OUT OUR GUTTERS AND REPLACED THE GUTTER CAPS WHEN THEY WERE DONE. I COULD NOT BE MORE PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK. THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE AFTER COMPARING IT WITH PRICES FRIENDS HAVE PAID. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO RECOMMEND ABLE ROOFING TO ANYONE. IN FACT THEIR REPRESENTATIVE RETURNED ONE OF OUR PHONE CALLS FROM FLORIDA. THIS AN EXCELLENT COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH.

WHEN I CALLED TO ASK QUESTIONS, THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD MADE AN ERROR ON THE ESTIMATE AND UNDER BID. THEY TOLD US THAT THE WORK WOULD BE $2400 AND THEN CHANGED IT TO $6700. WE DECIDED NOT TO GO WITH THEM.

ABLE GOT A HOLD OF OHIO TECHNICAL SERVICES TO REMOVE THE ASBESTOS SHINGLES FROM MY ROOF. I THOUGHT THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK. I WENT WITH ABLE BECAUSE THEY ARE A BIG COMPANY AND HAVE CREWS ALL OVER, SO THEY WERE ABLE TO PULL A CREW IN AND DO THE WORK WHEN NEEDED, VERSUS A SMALLER COMPANY THAT I MAY OF HAD TO WAIT ON.

SIGNED AN AGREEMENT ON DECEMBER 29, 2004, WITH A VERBAL AGREEMENT THE WORK WOULD NOT BE DONE UNTIL WE RETURNED HOME IN FEBRUARY 2005. MUCH TO OUR DISMAY, THE WORK WAS COMPLETED WHILE WE WERE NOT AT HOME. ALSO, SOME OF THE SCREENS IN THE GUTTERS WERE NOT REPLACED. THE PERSON WAS POLITE BUT INCAPABLE OF GIVING A CLEAR ANSWER, OF MAKING GOOD ON SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS, OR OF BEING HONEST ABOUT WHEN HIS TRUCK WOULD BE FIXED. I THOUGHT ABLE WAS A BIG COMPANY. IF ONE OF THEIR WORKMEN WAS UNABLE TO DO A JOB, WHY DID THEY NOT SEND SOMEONE ELSE? WHY DID THIS GUY COME TO MY HOUSE TWICE WITHOUT HIS TRUCK? WHY DID HE NOT JUST CALL TO LET ME KNOW THAT HE WOULD NOT HAVE THE CORRECT EQUIPMENT TO MAKE THE ESTIMATE. I WASTED TWO DAYS AT HOME BECAUSE OF HIM.
Description of Work: NO WORK WAS PERFORMED. I CALLED FOR AN ESTIMATE ON A ROOF REPAIR (LEAKY ROOF, I THOUGHT) AND THE COMPANY SENT SOMEONE WHO CAME ONCE, LOOKED AT THE PROBLEM FROM THE INSIDE OF OUR HOUSE BUT DIDN'T HAVE HIS TRUCK OR LADDER TO INSPECT THE ROOF THAT DAY (HE SAID THE TRUCK WAS IN THE SHOP). WE SCHEDULED A SECOND DAY FOR THE ESTIMATE AND AGAIN, HE CAME WITHOUT HIS TRUCK OR THE APPROPRIATE EQUIPMENT. AT THAT POINT HE SAID HE WOULD CALL WITHIN A FEW DAYS. OVER A WEEK PASSED BEFORE HE CALLED AND AT THAT POINT I TOLD HIM NOT TO BOTHER COMING. IF HE COULD NOT GET IT TOGETHER TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE, HOW COULD I TRUST HIM TO ACTUALLY DO THE WORK?

I CHOSE ABLE BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE ROOF WARRANTY AND I WANTED THE SAME PEOPLE TO HAVE THE SIDING AND ROOF WARRANTY DUE TO A LEAKAGE PROBLEM. I AUTHORIZED THEM TO REPLACE ROTTED WOOD WHEN THEY DID THE VINYL SIDING BUT THEY DID NOT REPLACE IT. I CONTINUED TO HAVE LEAKS, IT TOOK A SECOND VISIT FOR ABLE TO REPLACE THE WOOD, AT THAT TIME THE TECHNICIAN WAS VERY HELPFUL AND IN ADDITION PAINTED THE NEW WOOD FOR ME. NO PROBLEMS SINCE.

ABLE REBUILT THE CHIMNEY ABOVE THE ROOF LINE. THE JOB WAS SAID TO REQUIRE TWO VISITS WITH A ONE WEEK DELAY FOR THE SETTLING OF MATERIALS, BUT IT WAS COMPLETED IN A COUPLE OF DAYS WHICH CONCERNS US AS TO THE STRENGTH OF THE WORK. THE JOB SEEMED TO BEGIN ONLY AFTER WE CONTACTED THEM COMPLAINING NO WORK HAD BEEN DONE. TWO OTHER TASKS WERE AGREED TO ON THE CONTRACT, BUT THESE ITEMS WERE NOT DONE PRIOR TO GETTING A BILL FOR THE REMAINING BALANCE OF THE CONTRACT. ANOTHER CALL GOT THE WORK DONE, BUT THE CAULKING AND SEALING WAS DONE DURING BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES CONCERNING US AS TO THE DURABILITY OF THE WORK. WE WERE TOLD THE CAULKING AND PIPE WORK WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY SO IF IT FLAKES AS A RESULT OF THE APPLICATION IN THE COLD, THEY DO NOT INTEND TO REDO THE WORK. CREWS SHOWED UP UNANNOUNCED AND A SIGN WAS PLACED IN OUR YARD WITHOUT PERMISSION. THE WORK WAS DONE IN ACCORDANCE TO WORDING ON THE CONTRACT, BUT IT IN NO WAY MATCHES OUR EXPECTATIONS.
Description of Work: OUR CHIMNEY WAS CRUMBLING ABOVE THE ROOF LINE AND BELOW THE ROOF LINE THERE WERE SEVERAL CRACKS IN THE STUCCO. ABLE AGREED TO REBUILD THE CHIMNEY ABOVE THE ROOF LINE AND THEN PUT SIMILAR COLOR STUCCO AROUND IT AFTER THE BRICKS DRIED (AN ESTIMATED ONE WEEK WAITING PERIOD). THEY ALSO AGREED TO COVER THE CRACKS BELOW THE ROOF LINE WITH A CLEAR COLORED CAULK. PLUS, WHILE THEY WERE ON THE ROOF, THEY WERE GOING TO FIX AN EXHAUST PIPE THAT WAS COMING LOOSE AND RESEAL IT.

"I FEEL THAT ABLE DID A FINE JOB REBUILDING THE UPPER PORTION OF THE CHIMNEY OF MY HOUSE." OUR QUALITY CONTROL DEPARTMENT HAD CONFIRMED THE SAME. THE MASONRY WORK WAS DONE DURING GOOD WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE CAULKING AND PIPE REPAIR WORK WAS PERFORMED BY OUR ROOFING DEPARTMENT, WHICH, WERE ON A DIFFERENT TIME LINE THAN OUR MASONRY DEPARTMENT. THE SEALANTS USED ARE SOLVENT BASED MATERIALS AND NOT AFFECTED BY TEMPERATURE. IT''S UNFORTUNATE THAT WE DID NOT EXPLAIN THIS TO OUR CLIENT, BUT, ARE SATISFIED THAT THE JOB WAS DONE CORRECTLY. THEY WERE VERY PROMPT IN COMING OUT FOR THE ESTIMATE AND THE ESTIMATE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. MY ONLY COMPLAINT WAS THE PRICE SEEMED VERY HIGH ($500) FOR WHAT SEEMED LIKE A VERY SMALL JOB. I GOT A QUOTE FROM ANOTHER COMPANY THAT WAS RATED VERY HIGH WITH ANGIE'S LIST AND THEY DID THE JOB FOR 1/2 THE PRICE(WHICH WAS MORE IN LINE WITH WHAT I THOUGHT IT SHOULD BE). I WAS ALSO VERY HAPPY WITH THE WORK THE OTHER COMPANY DID.
Description of Work: GOT A QUOTE TO REPAIR SIDING THAT BLEW OFF IN A STORM AND SEAL THE ELECTRIC METER THAT HAD RECENTLY BEEN REMOUNTED BY ELECTRICIANS. THE ELECTRICIANS LEFT A 1/4 INCH GAP BETWEEN THE METER AND THE SIDING WHICH NEEDED TO BE FIXED.
