Able Roofing

Hurricane Ike did a number on my roof when it roared through. Able was one of three companies I had come out to give me an estimate. They had someone out quickly who showed me not only where I had lost shingles, but also where a majority of my shingles had come loose or were in jeopardy of blowing off in future windstorms. They also pointed out some flaws in the original roof installtion from when I built the house. Their foreman came out when my insurance adjuster was there, went over every inch of my roof with him and showed him all the areas of concern. Able offered to cover my $500 deductible which no other company that gave me a quote did. Upon scheduling, Able was on time, showed up with a large crew and did the install quickly and efficiently. Since that time I have had some minor issues, some of which in the end were not related to the roof itself, but another underlying issue. Every time I have called them with a concern or problem they have responded within 24 hours and have been courteous and gone above and beyond to fix things even when they were not directly related to the roof installation. (Example, there was a hole under a place where my house trim had shrunk, when they discovered it they caulked it closed and told me about it so I could have it more properly corrected.) The only thing I could see to say negatively was that the original crew used a large gob of clear silicone caulk where a gutter met the side of my house. This caused water to pour down the window right below it which was leaking. However, when the foreman came out to inspect it, he wasn't pleased either and scheduled a crew to come out and fix it with the proper L bracket. He also found the cause of the window leak which was a broken j channel above the window. They removed the siding above the window, fixed the j channel and reinstalled the siding for no charge even though it was not a problem they were responsible for. I don't hesitate to refer them to anyone who has roofing problems.

Good experience from the estimate through installation and the follow up quality visit.

They showed up as scheduled. Took down all the measurements for the work needed. They were very professional in obtaining the information. I never heard back from them regarding an estimate for the work needed. I did receive a phone call to see if someone showed as scheduled. I informed them that I never received a quote. They told me they would follow up. I never received a quote. Too bad. I have used them in the past and have been satisfied with their work.

They provided us with a quote and they recommended that we not repair the chimney and that we rebuild the chimney. They did a really good job and gave us a really good quote.

They are my roofing people. Years ago, they had put a whole new roof on. The last time around, they did some work around a leaking skylight and replaced a piece of trim on the house that was no longer weathertight and was causing a leak. The work turned out very well, and they were able to take care of it without any problems. I think they had to come out a second time, but they did a terrific job, and I have not had any issues since. They are reliable, show up each time and fix the problem. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

It was terrible. They were supposed to come out to tarp the roof & provide me with an estimate. They sent workers out that didn’t speak English very well, didn’t park their work truck where I could see and didn’t call beforehand like I had asked (I have dogs that I need to have put away). I called the office to confirm that these were actually workers for their company. Turns out, the crew didn’t tarp the roof properly. When I questioned the legality of their workers, the employee at the office told me that these workers were subbed out and told me that the company doesn't care whether or not the workers were illegal immigrants, then wouldn’t come out to do any sort of work for me since I questioned this. They told me that their subcontractors are all legal, but they don't check the crew at all.

We had a real problem with them. They were two minutes from our house. I wasn't pleased with them. They were supposed to come do a quote. They scheduled an appointment and never got back to us. When we called them again, the lady we talked to told us that it had already been done. Either somebody in the company made a mistake, or the person who was supposed to come out just didn't show up. They were arguing with my wife saying that it had already been done. It wasn't worth fussing with them over it, so we let it go.

The interaction with them was fine. They said that they were willing to be anybody but when it came down to it they weren't.

Some of the skylights were replaced because they were storm damaged. They leaked after replacement. Were fixed? Then they fixed the damage inside of the building but somehow were not able to fix the leak above one of the skylights. It continues to leak or water is somehow coming in above the skylight. I called so many times but they could not fix the leak. One of their vice presidents came to inspect but he felt that Able was not responsible. Needless to say, I'd never use them again.

They were fine. They come when they say they will come. They were average.

I expected to hear that I would need much more extensive work. Instead they looked for the most economical way to repair the problem. I received a phone call and a follow up visit to check on the work and my satisfaction. I would use them again.

They were originally going to replace a few shingles but the roof was near the end of its life so they recommended I replace the whole roof. They did a great job. Offered a fair price, they were prompt, professional and I would use them again.

The experience was fine with them. We did have to call him back because we had a question about how the roof looked in one area. They came out and explained everything to us appropriately. The price was very competitive. The staff was very nice and very professional. They were very efficient and did the entire roof in one single day. They sent out the representative with the sample of single roof for us to look at. They timed with us for everything that was nice.

They were professional, punctual and clean. Very quick work. They cleaned up everything and were really a pleasure to work with. In August, 2010 - we had a huge wind storm with rain. We noticed a small leak in the house. We called Able Roofing and they came in and fixed it ASAP - everything is great.

The work was a lot cheaper than what would normally happen. We had two roofs. They put the original roof on about 12 to 14 years ago, and we had some issues. They were good about it. They got me a quote. The gentleman that did the quote originally thought they'd need new boards on the entire roof. When the workmen came out, they decided that they didn't need all of the boards. I was very pleased. The crew looked at the job and gave me an honest appraisal.

Their estimate was $5000 for few windows and siding. They had done a roof job and fixed a chimney for me four years ago, when I had moved in here. Overall, they represented themselves very well. When they did the repair work on the chimney, they had left a piece out and had covered it out so that I would not find it but they blamed that on their contractor. With so much, I did not realize that there would be a problem if the contractor was going to work for the people. When they did the windows, the guy was very sharp and almost pushy. When they gave me an estimate, they did not have the number on the windows and the siding. They just did the measurement and gave me an estimate. There was nothing about the product and so, I did not go ahead with that. I was not satisfied with that at all. They did not do very well like it did not matter, maybe because it was a small estimate. I wanted to get few windows now and some of them later. However, they were responsive. I would probably use them for a roof job but not for windows or siding.

They work was well done and the clean up was magnificent. No nails or anything left behind and the landscaping was left pristine. They did their job and made sure no part of the job was left here and they were gone.

They are great. They are fast. They are responsive. They take care of any little problems that come up. For example, they accidently knocked out an outside temperature gauge and it went to an indoor outdoor thermometer and a clock and they replaced the whole clock, the whole thing. I think their price is very reasonable. The quality of the work is excellent. Their responsiveness is fantastic. I called several different companies. They are the only ones who came out on the same day to tarp my roof before the rains would start again. A limb hit my roof and put 4 holes in it. They were out and covered it the same day that I reported it. Their punctuality is right on the money. Their professionalism is excellent. I would use them again.

We had a good interaction with them. They presented their product, they did a good job, and they cleaned up well.

They subcontracted the gutter work, but it was under their name. It looks good. They did a very good job. They came out and started at about 9:30 and had it done by 4. They were fast. It was done well. The guys who did the gutters did a good job as well. The price was reasonable for our house. They had pretty good feedback online. Some people had said pretty good things. They had a guy come out and talk to us. He explained about the roofing and that was very good. The sales guy was good. They stayed in touch. I had them out and they talked to me. So that was nice. It was not just the phone contact, but there was personal contact as well. It?s a lot better that way. There was more dirt in the garage than what I had expected. There were scrapings from the roof and I had to clean that up. I put a plastic to collect everything and it was a big job since I had a lot of stuff in the garage. I had to go inside the garage and sweep it out. They were very good. If need be, then I would use their services in the future too.

We called Able before we joined Angie's List because they were well known and our next door neighbor had a good experience. I was concerned with the B rating but we decided to keep the appointment anyway. The guy who came out was on time and very professional. He did give us a bit of a pitch on just replacing the whole roof since it is starting to show some wear, but he was certainly not pushy. He said he could have a leak repair crew out within a day and gave us a general quote of $1,000. I also called two other companies that have A ratings across the board here on Angie's List. One was completely unresponsive. After two calls, my husband finally talked to someone and they said they would come out that Friday and then never showed up, so we gave up on them. The other company flat out refused to come meet with us unless we could take off work and meet with them during 9-5 M-F. In the meantime, the guy we had met with from Able called just to check in and see if we had any additional questions. So, we decided to give Able's team a shot. We were scheduled immediately, on a date and time (late evening) that accomodated our schedules. The two man crew was on time, very courteous and professional. One of them climbed up to the roof with a hose and the other went into the attic. Within 15 minutes they had found a dime-sized hole in the mortar of the chimney. The placement of the hole explained completely why we would get a leak during certain rainstorms but no leak during other storms. Overall, we had a great experience and would seriously consider using them again.

Our experience with them was good. We had them come back for the gutters a little bit; overall they did a good job.

They done everything just as they said they would.

They were very responsive, called and were out within a couple of days. Laid out all of the options, different types of shingles, years of shingle-life, etc. Were educating us on these items. Responsiveness was the biggest stand-out of the experience!

There was a problem with the roof, and they are just now after writing two letters and making calls having people scheduled to come out and fix it. It's been over a year. The price was okay. The insurance took care of it so we were only interested in the quality. They had a hardworking crew. The job got done really fast. None of them spoke English well enough to know what I was talking about.
