It was excellent. We live in Yorkshire, I think everybody got a roof from them and that was why we contacted them. They did excellent work. Their price was just comparable to most of the estimates we got. It might have been a little higher but it was worth it to us. We had an outfit before and they were just terrible. They roofed in last sunny time and I would never recommend them. Able Roofing was super. We just were impressed with them and we would recommend them to anyone.

The estimator arrived on time and promptly assessed the damage. While there was damage to a particular area, the estimator would only give me a quote to have the entire roof replaced. I had 2 other estimates from other roofers who told me the damage was limited & the section could be repaired for a fraction of the price of replacing the entire roof. The estimator did tell me that my insurance would likely pay for a new roof but I would have liked to have an estimate for the damaged area ONLY.

We called or an appointment, a representative (Nick Newland) came out the next day, provided a written estimate. Scheduled an appointment to fix our issues, he arrived on time and completed the work BEAUTIFULLY!!! We have had this issue for over 28 years and endured a leaky chimney/roof and since Nick Newland repaired our leak, we finally have stayed dry during even the worst downpours!!! Nick was extremely professional, prompt and courteous. We will call Able Roof and Nick Newland if we develop any other issues. Great job!!! Sue Stamnes Homeowner

Not well! The sales rep pulled up and just wanted me to sign a form and get an estimate from our insurance company. I had already had B&T Roofing out and they had told me this was a simple $500.00 repair. The Able sales rep did not want to climb up to the roof. He had to move his golf clubs out of the way to drag a silly 12' ladder out of his car. I have no interest in golf but got to hear about his game. I had to insist that he climb up to the top. He did not step onto the roof but just said "Yeah, your roof is old. Call your insurance, sign this form to say that we have your business, and then give us a call back".

It went well. I was concerned with damage from hail we had and high winds. I was missing a shingle and needed it inspected. They came out as scheduled and told me there is just minor issues but did not need a new roof. They inspected and repaired several places that needed fixed. In one area I had roof mounted equipment from a local ISP provider that I had since switched from. Apparently when they took their equipment the just left the holes in the roof where it was mounted. They repaired that area as well as installed the missing shingles and sealed them. It was nice to know they were honest and the people doing the inspection and repair were up front about things. I was happy to know the expense was minor.

Workman showed up when he said he would. Upon investigation said that he would have to replace about 4' of shingles and he wasn't sure if they had them in stock at the time and asked me if a close match was ok. I informed him that I still had some shingles in the garage from the original roof and that he could use those if he wanted. He said that the roof on the garage was older and could probably stand to have the whole roof replaced. I told him I couldn't afford the whole roof replaced and asked him to just repair the area that needed it. He said he could probably use the existing shingles I had for the job and they proceeded to work that morning/afternoon on the area. They removed an area of shingles about 4' x 4' (approx) and replaced the wood underneath with new plywood and replaced the shingles. The new wood looked satisfactory to me (for what it's worth). I thanked him for his work and they were off. After a couple months had passed and we finally got some rain (we had a drought this past summer and I was never home when it was raining hard), I noticed the corner of my garage floor was wet. I assumed some water had splashed back into the garage door from outside since it had rained so hard that day and didn't think much of it. After another month or so we had the first really good rain storm and I came home from work to another soaked floor. I went to look at the water in the corner when water dripped on my head from the roof. Water was pouring out of the gap between the existing wood panels and the new panel that Able installed. This was in a totally different area than where my original damage was (about 3 feet towards the top of the roof vs the bottom where it was replaced). Sadly this was just a few days after the warranty had expired. I called Able and they said they'd have the technician come out to investigate the work anyway which I appreciated greatly. Upon inspection the tech noted that he installed the replacement shingles incorrectly and accepted responsibility for the leakage. I was happy he was taking responsibility and fixing the issue with it being so close to being out of warranty. He worked on the roof that afternoon and said it should be fixed at this time. About 2 weeks later, we got another storm and the roof was leaking again in the same spot. I called the tech and he apologized and came to investigate the issue again. When he looked at it this time he stated that the roof was improperly installed by someone else years ago and that he would have to take shingles off all the way to the top of the roof to realign them. This was all at an additional cost to the original repair that they performed! I was shocked at this, I was in essence paying them twice to fix the original issue which was never fixed in the first place. If the roof was incorrectly installed and needed replaced to the top of the roof why wasn't that presented to me at the original estimate? Why did they say they could fix the issue and let me pay for it, and why just now after a 3rd inspection did they realize that this new service was needed? I said I refused to pay to have them fix an issue that they basically created. My roof was NOT leaking before the repair and now I have a roof that leaks huge amounts of water in a totally different 4 foot area. Not only that but about 3 months after the repair the 'new' wood is rotten and molding from all of the *new* leakage that didn't exist before. I got a call from a manager that stated that they would be happy to fix the roof at an additional $500, and acted like he was doing me a favor, which flabbergasted me. Why on earth would I pay a company a second time to repair an issue they created? I thought this was an easy slam dunk to own up to the original issue and make it right and have a customer for life, but the manager seemed more concerned about towing the company line and informed me how restrictive their guidelines are in this regard. He basically said that his hands were tied because it was out of the warranty period despite them admitting the mistake. Giant opportunity to make a lifelong customer missed. Instead I have told everyone I know to stay far away.

WE VALUE EVERY CUSTOMER and understand that repair work is sometimes needed over replacement due to budget restrictions. We have been consistent with our communication with the customer that the roof should just be replaced due to defective workmanship prior to our involvement. We provided the customer several options for repair and advised that the roof should just be replaced at the initial appointment. The customer decided at that time to only address one area of the roof where rotted wood could be seen, even though we provided information that water was coming in from multiple areas above, hence the recommendation that the roof should just be replaced. We repaired one specific area and that is the work we charged for. Our warranty policy for repair work covers our work but not areas of the roof we have not repaired or replaced. The repair we performed was done at the edge of the roof and the customer states that areas above our work started leaking months after we left and acknowledged we advised him to just replace the roof at the initial appointment. We have communicated with the customer on three separate occasions what needed to be done to correct the issue and the fees associated with those repairs. There isn’t much more we can do if work recommended to be performed is not accepted. Dan Moore, Vice President, Mr roof; Cheryl Cox, Marketing

They were pretty good. I thought the price was a little high and they wouldn't do anything under $1500 and I needed the roof leak repaired. They were just going to do the roof repair for $1500 and I said that was too high and so I told them to give me gutters in the front, in that case I'm getting a little bit for my money.
Description of Work: Able Roofing needed to fix the drain pipe on the gutters but it was kind of little too long and it goes out into the sidewalk a little and they were supposed to come back and fix it but they haven't come back yet. They did gutters for me. They cut a pretty small patch on my roof and then did the gutters in two different places on the front of the house.

The roof is ok. We did have some awning damage. One of the shingles tore a hole in our awning. When I pointed it out, they said they would fix it at no cost, which they did. The roof looks good. The roof isn’t leaking so the quality was good. However, as the work progressed, we would have preferred if the front yard could have looked better because it really looked terrible from the street. At the end of the day, the roofers did go and clean everything before they left; it was just during the installation that it looked bad.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review regarding your experience with Able Roofing. It was unfortunate that your awning was damaged but as you noted we did get it fixed at our expense. Having had to have the roof on my home replaced last year due to storm damage I can concur with you that during the process the front yard of my home looked untidy and cluttered with bundles of shingles, wood decking, saw horses, a saw, etc. but at the end of the day the crew cleaned everything up and left my yard looking as it had before the roof install. Able put on a new roof for me after a storm severely damaged my roof back in 2007. When a smaller storm did some spot damage to the roof in 2012, they responded very quickly. I think in part because I was a repeat customer, but they were very prompt and were out the same day I called, despite the fact that they were slammed with other people having issues due to the storm as well. I was very impressed with their timeliness, and friendliness.

Great, Nick was very knowledgeable and professional.
Description of Work: A skylight was leaking and since Able had installed it several years ago, I called them. Nick came, checked the skylight and said that it was in very good shape and wasn't the problem. But above the skylight is a pipe coming out of the roof and the boot surrounding it was broken, had holes in it and was probably where the water was coming in. He repaired it and another one close to it that also had a cracked and broken boot. I feel confident that this will solve the problem.

Their service was a bit spotty at the onset. We needed to ask for an estimate a few times, and actually escalate to an office manager. The initial estimator never actually provided an estimate, and we had to start over. Once we got the estimate and set the date for the installation, all went very smoothly. The crew replaced the roof and hauled away all remnants within the same day.

I contacted 8 roofing companies to give us estimates on replacing our roof. Able Roofing was the only company to give a great price with everything inclusive. John our contact agent was knowledgeable and I trusted him, because out of all of the agents I spoke to he was the only one to tell us we had 1 layer of shingles under our old roof. I cannot say that about any of the other roofing companies that came to our home. Each one had a us with at least 2 layers and how much more that was going to cost, etc... Able did what they said they would do. Come the day that we scheduled. Did not come like a week before and lay a ton of new shingles on our roof waiting for the roofers to appear. Very professional. Did an excellent job.

He told me he would check the roof out and let me know his findings. He walked the roof for several minutes and then returned to his truck to write up his estimate. He returned from his truck with an Able folder with all of the paperwork in it. We sat down and he began his pitch. He told me that my roof was no spring chicken and that someone had been up there prior and just nailed down shingles which were cracked, broken and bent from wind damage. He then told me that he advised for me to get the roof replaced and that he would work with insurance to get this done, with no out of pocket costs to me, other than my deductible which Able would offset by me placing their sign in my front yard for which I would be given a $500 "yard sign credit". I agreed to this as I believed it to be the best course of action and had to sign a contract at this time since, as he explained it, he would be putting in a lot of leg work and that he was going to meet with the insurance adjuster to get a quote that would allow him to make as much money as possible on the job. He didn't want me to pull the check from insurance and shop around for another company to do the work. I didn't really have an issue with this as I was going to end up paying my deductible and getting a new roof out of it all. He told me that he had a phone number for my insurance company's claim dept. and that we could call them and get the claim going right then. We called in, got the ball rolling and he left after telling me that when an insurance adjuster calls me back that I needed to call him to schedule the time for the adjuster to walk the roof and perform their inspection so he could be present, but I did not need to be there. I coordinated contact between insurance and Dan and they were to meet and walk the roof for inspection. They both met up on a determined date/time in which I did not have to be home to do the estimate. I got a call while at work from my insurance adjuster letting me know they were signing off on replacing the roof, and Dan called shortly after stating the same thing. He told me that he would be out within a day or two in order for me to sign the actual contract for the roofing job as well as picking out which shingles I wanted the roof done in. Dan arrived at our arranged time and provided me with roughly 5-6 samples of the shingles for me to pick a color. It wasn't really explained to me the brand of shingles, the rating, or anything specific. This lack of information is probably my fault for not asking but I also feel that there should have been some sort of explaining the product by the salesman. After completing this step, which would also be the last time I heard from Dan, he told me I would be getting a call from a project manager who would see me through the job and keep me up to date on any issues that may arise as well as keeping me in the loop for permits etc. I did get this call from someone, I forgot to note their name, informing me that they would be calling me in about a week to set up a time for the job to take place. This was the only time I spoke with this project manager, who was supposed to be on site the day of the job as well as follow up with me once job was complete to address any questions or concerns. I got a call from a female within the week asking when we could schedule the date for install. I chose Wednesday October 24th as the weather was supposed to be nice and I could take off that day and the following day in case any issues arose and I wanted to be there when the crew did the work and completed the job. I had in my contract that Able would remove and replace my DirecTV dish, but I wanted DirecTV to do the actual replacement of and alignment of the dish so I scheduled them to come out the evening of the 24th and complete this task. Able was supposed to arrive to do the job on the 24th between 8am-10am and stated that it would be done in one day and should only take about 6-7 hours. The morning of the 24th I got up around 7:30am so that way I could take any calls in case they wanted to arrive early etc. I was laying on the couch when around 20 after 8 I got a call from a number that was unknown to me. I answered and the lady on the other line told me that she was with Able roofing and that they had a truck issue and would be unable to come at all to do the job today. She went on to tell me they would be out Friday morning to do the job. I had looked at the weather forecast and with my scheduled days off being that day and the next, in addition to DirecTV being scheduled to come out that day this was unacceptable to me and was there any way we could get the job done on Thursday the 25th. She told me that she didn't think this would be possible but agreed to call me back and let me know. She called me back about an hour or so later and said that the crew would be there between 8-10am on the 25th now to do the job. I was able to contact DirecTV and get my appointment moved to the next day with no issue. The morning of the 25th I got up at 7:30 again and waited for the crew to arrive. I waited until almost 10:30am with no word from anyone in Able corporate office or the crew supervisor calling me to explain their tardiness. I contacted Able and was transferred to someone in production and they told me the production manager was in a meeting and would call me back as soon as he was out of his meeting. I missed his call back, but the crew arrived a little after 11am to start work on the roof. When the crew finally did arrive, I was greeted by a pleasant gentleman who spoke broken English along with 2-3 other gentlemen who spoke little to no English knocking on my door to inform me he was with Able roofing could he pull the truck up to the garage. They were driving a black full size pickup truck with an attached high wall flatbed trailer, they had no Able logo on their truck or no Able name badges or shirts etc. that I could see. I had planned accordingly and had the driveway cleared of my car, and my wife was at work so nobody would need into or out of the garage. They backed the trailer up to the garage, put a ladder up next to the garage to the roof and went to work. I do not know if Able uses sub contracted help or if their help is licensed and legal to work in the area. I know that to some this is a concern and am mentioning this fact for those individuals concerned with illegal laborers. I personally didn't have an issue with the crew one way or the other. They began diligently removing the existing roofing and applying the new roof. About the shingles and products used. Able appears to either be a subsidiary of or business partner with a company called "Mr. Roof" as the water barrier they laid down said "MR. ROOF" all over it and the shingles were, I believe "Mr. Roof" brand shingles. They were pretty quick as far as removing the old, existing roof and began carrying the shingles up and laying them out to put the new roof on. They only stopped for one break and had the entire job done by about 5pm. They then went through the yard and picked up all the material and debris that had fallen into the yard and was supposed to roll through the yard with a magnetic roller to pick up any metal, nails, staples, etc that had fallen into the yard. I did not see this process done and had to pick up quite a few staples from the yard after they were all done. When they were all finished I stepped outside and was met by another gentleman, this one wearing a red Able roofing t-shirt, he was looking around the front sidewalk as one of the workers was blowing off the sidewalk with a leaf blower, the man in the red shirt did not speak any English to my knowledge as he simply smiled, nodded his head and handed me my final invoice. I thanked him and went inside. When filing a claim for insurance purposes, they withhold a portion of the money paid out until completion of certain aspects of the job, so I still have a small balance due which has been cleared by insurance and Able, once I get this final check I am to sign it over to Able as previously agreed upon in the contract. At this point I had never heard anything from the project manager except the one phone call prior to the job being done, and the next day I got a yellow door hanger when I arrived home from work with some initials on it stating that my roof had passed final inspection. No idea who this person was that gave this final inspection or when they arrived as I was at work Friday until 9pm. The next week was adventurous as we have had a tremendous amount of rain and I'm not seeing any wet spots or rain issues on the ceiling in my second floor rooms so I'd imagine that the workmanship is up to par, but I have no clue on the quality of shingle applied to the roof as previously mentioned. All in all I'm pretty happy with the job done but would definitely look more in depth in product used and ask more questions in the future. I would have liked to actually hear from or even see the project manager as was told to me would be the case when I first signed up. I do feel like Able will provide a fair job but they are very professional at dealing with insurance and getting the absolute top dollar possible but I don't believe that the materials used or workers reflect this highly premium price. I'm also sure that if you were to pay out of pocket you'd get a more fair price for the job done.
Description of Work: I contacted several companies from Angie's List in order to get estimates for having my gutter looked at due to recent damage from a storm, in addition, I was looking to have someone inspect the roof as well to make sure there were no issues concerning the roof even though I have never noticed any leaks or wet spots on my ceilings on the 2nd floor. Able sent someone, Dan, out to give me an estimate on the work to be done. Dan arrived on time and told me he would check everything out and get back with me with an estimate. He asked me to show him around the house and what exactly I believed the issues were prior to him getting on the roof. I had him follow me into the back yard where I showed him a missing piece of one of the downspouts on the gutter and he just looked at me and said in sort of a mocking tone that I should just have a handyman fix that and he couldn't believe that I called him out for an estimate on a downspout. I then informed him that his company does free estimates and that I wanted the roof inspected as well.

Description of Work: Someone stole our copper downspouts from our building. They replaced them with pvc pipe and painted it to blend into building. Great job done by great craftsmen. Were very friendly and cooperative.

Poorly. I left a message Sunday night in hopes they would call back Monday morning to discuss getting an estimate on some minor work that I need to complete in the next 3 weeks prior to closing on my sold home (per buyer's request). When they returned my call at 420 pm, I was in an area that my cell phone did not work, so I called right back from a land line. Went straight to voicemail, and left a message. After 20 minutes and no return, I called the office, got in touch with someone, they told me that it must have been the other girl that called, so she sent me to her line - which went straight to voicemail. So I called back, was put on hold, then someone (presumably the girl who I talked to first), picked up the line and immediately hung up to disconnect me as it was 459 pm at this point. When I called back, everyone was gone for the day. Very poor customer service to this point. They did call back Tuesday morning, and they informed they could not even come out and give an estimate for the work for over 2 weeks. I explained the issue with closing on the house, and remedies required to complete my end of the contract, and they could not help. Very disappointed in this company. Will not even attempt to use them in the future.
Description of Work: I tried to talk to someone at their office to discuss an estimate and to get someone out for an estimate.

Due to recent storms we continue to receive an unusually high volume phone calls requesting a free roof inspection (over 4000 plus calls to date) which has pushed our inspection schedule out several weeks. Unfortunately this consumer was closing on the sale of his home and needed an appointment quicker than we could accommodate him. Cheryl Cox, Marketin
