Able Roofing

I contacted ABLE's masonry personnel asking them to bid on rebuilding my 25 year old stone mailbox. I was acquainted with ABLE's people since they had worked on and waterproofed my stone chimney for several years. While they were not the lowest bidder for the mailbox work (right in the middle), I liked their skillful mason, Derek, who I had gotten to know. He had always been easy to work with. My old mailbox had an arched top which had gone through years of absorbing water, then freezing and thawing. The mortar and the stones were crumbling as a result. To alleviate that problem in the future, I decided to get rid of the arch and instead rebuild the structure vertically, putting on a limestone cap to shed water. Derek and his crew did an exceptional job. I wish everyone could drive by and see how impressive this mailbox looks now. The stones and mortar they used matched so exactly the old North Shore Split stones, you can't tell any work was done. Once again in the course of the rebuilding, Derek proved to be easy to work with, accomodating my special requests for placing pea gravel around the foundation stones, waterproofing the job after completion, etc. It was a real delight to work with him. I have to put in a special word for ABLE's Supervisor, Josh Argabright. He was also a delight to work with. For example, he exactly followed my request and specifications for the custom-made limestone cap. You don't have to explain anything -- he gets it the first time. He is also personable, very skilled in his trade and fun to work with. Because of their highly skilled personnel, this masonry division of ABLE is a treasure. I can highly recommend them for anyone considering hiring a mason!

Very diligent and do very good work.

The process was great from start to finish. Their Masonry supervisor Josh arrived on-time to estimate the work and was very thorough both in his examination of the issue and his explanation of the work to me. They were prompt in scheduling the work and stuck exactly to their timeline and cost. Throughout the process there was great communication and the team took great care in the quality of their work and making sure I was satisfied with the end result. I would not hesitate to call Able for any future needs.

They were so patient with our condo group. Everyone from Able has been patient and helpful. All the workers are very polite and professional.

Project was botched up from the beginning. Three truckloads of workers arrived with only one who could speak some broken English. No supervisor from Able was present. The shingles arrived on a semi which could not go down our driveway. The shingles were off loaded on tall stacks at the edge of our gravel driveway, thus, voiding the manufacturers warranty. We were not told that the manufacturer of the shingles was IKO which has a solid reputation for cheap shingles. The roofs were put on in record time without care for quality. Shingles are not straight and the stone face has lifted off easily when walked on. The wrong flashing was used around the skylights and had to be replaced. The wrong ridge vent was installed and had to be replaced. The wrong nails (too long) were used and caused frost build-up on the underside of the roof sheathing. We now have roofs that leak and drip water when the weather conditions are right. When it was clear that Able had no intentions to fix our problem, we brought legal action against them. The Vice President of Operations took the stand and claimed the problems were caused by our buildings having poor construction. Able claimed that the problems were brought on by our negligence. The jury did not believe them and found them guilty of negligence on all counts. The jury awarded us $25,000 in damages which was totally inadequate. We wanted $50,000 to put our property back in the condition it was before Able Roofing. It cost $10,000 to file the suit. Numerous appeals were not successful because we were told you cannot appeal the amount awarded by a jury.

They were here for four days. They were prompt. They cleaned up after themselves. I like them. They have done my roof a couple of times. They do really good work. Communicating with the workers was hard at sometimes.

The only thing this company has going for it is its salesman, Mike W. I was so sick the day he came, he was very compassionate and even offered to drive me to the hospital. When you see the commercial on TV saying they are number one, you assume that means they are the best but that is far from the truth. I was so disappointed for Able used to be the big name in town. People, listen to me - avoid them. The crew had no class - threw their cigarette butts and trash in my yard and would not clean up the mess they made. Their flunky was named Greg or Gary - if you see him, expect nothing for that is what you get from him. I specifically asked them to run the magnet over the yard when done for I have a dog and did not want her stepping on the nails. Two months later I am still picking up nails from the drive and grass. The work is below par. The first wind we had, several shingles blew off. My roof looks terrible and I have the newest roof on the street. I do not recommend them and hope you heed my warning.

What I appreciated about ABLE was their sense of urgency. We needed a new roof very badly, and it was a very rainy summer. ABLE was the only company that was able to come out and get the job done quickly, and their sales contact was very accessible and flexible with my schedule. He also did a wonderful job of educating my husband and I about the different options and how various elements of roofing work. The new roof looks great, and we haven't had any problems with it so far. If you do get a new roof, just remember to check for nails-- I did find several nails left on our driveway, even after everything was all cleaned up (but that's probably to be expected).

The job was done by Matt and his assistant Richie. Both men were skilled, professional, and very cooperative. We had some preferences about where the roof vent would be installed and the use of "ice guard" to minimize the chance of future moisture problems. The guys did everything we asked and then some to insure a good installation. We would definitely hire them again.

They are absolutely great! My husband was working nights at the time and was sleeping when they came and they didn't wake him! They have done two roofs for us as well. We really like them!

The sales person was a bit pushy, and the scheduler was rather standoffish when we spoke on the phone. However, the work was done well, and the gutters look great. There was some debris left over but nothing major.

Their response was immediate and thorough. They assured me that the job would be done to my satisfaction. They also let me know that they would work with my insurance company to make sure the costs would be manageable. They did an excellent job and we have had no further issues.

The one negative was the shingle supplier which I did not know. They use IKO to make their shingles under their own name ABLE. Their shingles felt heavy and good quality but we wanted a national brand like GAF.

Able Roofing was wonderful to work with. Last Nov 1 I had storm damage to my roof. Since snow started falling soon after that I was unable to address the issue until early sprin. I contacted Able roofing and they sent a representative out. He took a look at my roof (which had only been approved for a half replacement) and felt that a full replacement was required. He took pictures and worked with my insurance company until they agreed to replace the complete roof. They were able to replace my roof in one day, starting at around 9 in the morning and finishing at 8 that night. They did a wonderful job and their support was much appreciated. A+ I'll always go back to them.

They were prompt and the roof was put on quickly. We had a couple issues with the workers not straightening out the trim properly and they sliced the siding up by the chimney but everything was promptly and properly fixed. I would recommend them to anyone.

Explained that pricing was because they would have "to come all the way back out here again" to perform the job which offends me. You know where the property is before you come, if you don't service the area, don't come and don't tell me you have to upcharge because of the area.

They had a real heavy guy working for them and he was so heavy he broke some boards on the roof that they charged us to replace, so I wasn’t really pleased with that. Other than that, they did all right.

I was kept updated on service and what was going on since I had to work my husband stayed home while work was done, he probably didnt really need to but we have several dogs and thought it might be better for them that someone be here. BEAUTIFUL new roof, we are SO pleased, and they did a fantastic job with clean up, didnt leave a thing behind. VERY pleased , Thank you!!

They got the job done in one day. Started at 8:30 a.m. and finished up around 8:45 p.m. They had cleaned up everything and check numerous times for nails. I was very pleased with the there work.

I was very impressed with Able's crew. They used premium materials -- like the membrane that prevents ice and snow melt penetration over the eaves, a premium "tar paper" replacement, even a handsome new cap over my plumbing vents. The workers used magnets to pick up all the roofing nails that came from the tear off of old shingles and they were very diligent in cleaning up after their work. The area around my house looked better after they left than it had before they started working! Able has done several houses in my neighborhood and all the owners have been very pleased with their work (and price). If there have been any call-backs they have resolved these without incident.

Everything went well, and it was a good experience. They took the time to answer my questions, clearly explained everything, and did a good job with the roof. Furthermore, they were timely and courteous when working.

My old, worn out, multi peak / valley, original "Local Builder 'Quality'" roof was replaced by Able . Top notch work! Attention to detail was impressive. From the Shingles to the Color Matched Drip Edges running all the way around (looks good!) to the Ridge Vents. They even painted the Vent Pipes and Furnace Stack to match! The crew was efficient and methodical. When they were done, there was no trace of debris in my yard or on my large deck. They even cleaned all of the Gutters out. One day after the install, there was a very heavy rain storm. No leaks. No shingle issues. I still look up and admire my roof each time I pull into the driveway.

Roofers threw items off second story neighbors house landing on my concrete driveway damaging it. Someone came over and basically called me a liar asking me if I had it on video and if I didn't, it never happened. Never in my life have I been treated so rudely. This company does not care. If they cause damage, you are on your own. Unbelievable!

He tried something that he thinks will fix or help the problem. Wasn't here all that long and the repair sounded more like a patch .Was surprised that their service call is $275. especially since they installed the gutter guards after ruining the originals when they replaced the roof several years ago. If the installer would have done the job right in the first place there would have been no need for this call. Of course, he is no longer with the company. Work was ok, was on time, Steve was very nice . Just dismayed that they would charge an existing customer such a high fee to correct their error.
