+ 1 moreOverall, I had a great experience with the service call. A representative from ABC Home Services/Home-SAFE Warranty called me about 45 minutes prior to the plumber coming out. The plumber, Mike, came and assessed the problems. Then, he cleaned the flame sensor for the water heater burner before going to get the parts for the kitchen faucet. He was courteous and worked diligently throughout the repairs.
Description of Work: The water was not getting hot and there was a leak under the kitchen sink. The plumber, Mike, cleaned the flame sensor for the water heater burner and rebuilt the kitchen faucet.

+ 0 moreThe process was uncomplicated from the start; a simple phone call to their offices, and they handled the remainder of the contact with the requisite service providers (in this case the HVAC company required to service the AC unit). The staff I interacted with (Tim and Chelsea) as well as the owner Steve were accommodating and understanding, and did everything they could to ensure our satisfaction with the service. The service technicians they contracted arrived as per the schedule, and were polite and informative. This was a critical point for me, as I have had bad experiences in the past when third parties are contracted to carry out work, and do not live up to the standards set by the contracting entity. In this case, I could not be happier with the performance of the Quality Air technician (Jeff). This speaks well of both companies, as it was obvious that they are concerned with quality of the service throughout the process, and worked together to achieve it.
Description of Work: We obtained home warranty service through ABC Gas Repair Inc. at the time of purchase on our new condo. After more than a month in the condo, and during the hottest period of this summer, and with my wife 6 months pregnant, the air conditioning unit failed. I called ABC and they quickly got in touch with one of their HVAC service providers (Quality Air), and to my surprise had them out to inspect the unit the next morning. It was determined that the unit was low on coolant, and they scheduled to come back for a more rigorous leak test. All of this was handled by ABC, and I was kept informed as to the happenings in the interim. Quality Air determined that the interior unit coil was the root cause of the problem, and ABC contracted with them to order the parts and complete the repairs. I am extremely pleased with the service and coverage provided by ABC, and how they managed the process with little input needed on my part. NOTES: 1. The cost of service amount of 495.00 as listed above is the cost of the warranty for a one year period. We bore no additional cost for the services described above, to ABC or Quality Air. 2. I will post a more detailed description of the HVAC repair related to the work performed by Quality Air, this post relates only to the ABC Home Warranty, which is covering the cost of the repairs, in addition to managing the process with the contractors.

+ -1 moreThe person that answered the phone was friendly and efficient - getting and giving sufficiently detailed information for us to make a reasonable judgement as to whether it would be a covered problem. The service provider called within the hour and scheduled the service immediately. I was pleasantly surprised at the entire process having read many articles on the inefficiency of some home warranty companies and the likelihood that issues would not be covered. It was a great first experience with a home warranty company.
Description of Work: They took information and and made the necessary calls to have a service person contact me. The person also informed me that there would be a charge IF it turned out to be just adjustments or a non-covered issue. She gave me enough information that I was pretty sure i had done all of the preliminaries and that there WAS a covered issue.

+ 0 moreThe seller provided ABC gas warranty when we purchased our new home. Last week our water tank leaked overnight, so after being awoken by wet cat paws, I was happy to learn that ABC has an answering service at 5 am! ABC was quick to call me back that morning. After initially giving me a window of 8:30-3 for a contractor to come, they called back and said he was on his way. They replaced my water heater that morning. Overall, I was very impressed with the speediness and responsiveness, especially right before a holiday weekend. Because it doesn't really fit into one of the categories, I have to mark my concern under professionalism. The contractor was not good with communicating how long the repair would take (even after I expressed that I had stayed home from work that morning and needed to go in). They did not clean up their mess. There are several places on my basement floor with drips of the silvery-compound they use to attach the pipes to the water heater. The wet furry gunk from under my old tank was just pushed to the side in a puddle, which makes me concerned that there's still gunk under the new tank (which now reaches to the floor). However, overall I was very happy with the promptness and ease to replace our water tank under the home warranty.

+ -1 moreFantastic. After our home buyer had the house inspected, there were some small items that required repairs. (Electrical, small plumbing, etc) The company was great to work with, seemed to have good contractors, made our lives easier as well as the sale of the house. I never knew a waranty company could actually do that. I only wish more realtors would utilize this company- same price, much better service. (I know this, as we have had terrible experience with a national chain warranty on the house we bought) If your realtor puts in their and quot;defaultand quot; warranty company, ask them to switch it to ABC.

The company that performed my work did perform checks to find the source of the problem. Not inform me that we see this all the time.

+ 0 morePrevious homeowner purchased GasSafe warranty when the home was listed. We didn't give much thought to it at the time of closing. Recently we noticed a very minor gas leak in the basement. Called up ABC Gas for service. They had me first have Columbia Gas come out and check for leaks. Then made the appointment with ABC Gas. Repairman came out to check on the problem area and confirm Columbia's work to find they were wrong and he showed me why. Then found the true problem to be small gas leak at the main gas terminal. He fixed it no problem and charged us $0 for the work. After talking with him for a few minutes I learned what else this warranty covers....furnace, air conditioner (minus actual compressor), water heater, gas lamp, fireplace, appliances to name a few. All that for $85 to renew the policy for another year with no service call fee = sign me up for renewal.

Description of Work: I had a flip property in Columbus. The City didn't want to do the line leading up to the house. I called 3 other companies ABC came in the cheapest. ABC installed an inner liner to fix the gas leak. I believe it was less than $50.00 at the time.

+ -1 moreIt's notable that ABC was extraordinarily responsive to my original service request --- and it's equally notable that of the two other A-listed firms on Angie's List that I contacted, neither responded.
Description of Work: Columbua Gas identified the likelihood of a gas leak inside our residence, and after searching through Angie's List for prospective firms, I sent an e-mail to ABC after work hours that same evening. Promptly at 7 a.m. the following morning, a representative of ABC called and scheduled service for 8:30 a.m. The problems were corrected within 2 hours, and I was charged about 15% less than the initial estimate.

+ 0 moreThe customer service has been terrible. I had an odd situation where the previous homeowner removed the original appliances and replaced them. After calling ABC Home Warranty, I learned the appliances that I bought with the house (the replacements) were not covered. My frustration grew when Lauren (the ABC staff member) because I was just learning that my appliances were not covered. LONG STORY SHORT, there was no sympathy on their behalf but they have since decided that since I purchased house with replaced appliances that they are covered. BUT I AM STILL CONFUSED! I called today to have someone come out and look at a leak that has developed with the refrigerator. And I was asked if I unplugged it? No it's working and it leaking. But I still may have to pay 85$ dollars for someone to look at it and tell me if it is covered. The warranty cost is 545$. Thank God I did not pay for that- the previous home owner did. I would not recommend them because the staff has not been helpful or very friendly.

+ -1 moreThe worker was prompt and gave a reasonable estimate, so we agreed to the job. He replaced the 10 ft section and left a 2 ft segment in place. When we told him we wanted it all removed he said that it would cost an extra $100 to remove the 2 ft section. I felt that he was taking advantage of us, but agreed to the extra charge to get the work completed. I will not be using this company in the future.
Description of Work: Replaced two sections of CSST gas line (about 12 feet) with black iron pipe.

So I schedule for the next day at 10 am. 2 servicemen arrived promptly at 10 and had the problem resolved in about 15 minutes. Very friendly and professional and quick.
Description of Work: We had ABC out to do a Gas Warranty related repair on our water heater. They replaced the pressure release valve in our water heater because it was leaking.

+ -1 moreIn my opinion, ABC should reconsider their flat rate pricing structure; which really takes advantage of people that need a simple repair made.
Description of Work: When I called ABC Gas Repair and asked them how much it would cost to locate and repair the gas leak in our home, they said they didn't charge by the hour, but rather by the job, and therefore couldn't give me an over-the-phone estimate. When their technician arrived, he told me that his company charges a flat rate of $332 for every gas repair, whether it takes 1 hour or 4 hours to complete. I was disappointed that I wasn't told this upfront when I called. Their price is entirely too high given most reputable companies charge about $80 an hour; and even a complicated, whole house job like ours took just 2 1/2 hours to complete. We ended up going with Columbus Gas Line. They checked every line in the house and made three repairs and charged us $202.

+ -1 moreAlong with the new gas dryer, a hardware store sold me a BrassCraft "Gas Installation Kit" - 'Everything You Need To Install Your Gas Appliance.' It didn't work. ABC Gas Repair came out the following day and connected a flexible hose to the existing gas line. When the hardware store delivered the dryer the day after that, they refused to connect the hose to the dryer. Since I was not sure how to make a safe connection I contacted ABC Gas Repair. They arrived at 8:30 a.m. on the next working day and completed the connection. They made no charge for this second call.
Description of Work: Hook up for a new gas dryer.

+ -1 moreA++++ Absolutely couldn't of been any better!! Very nice and kind to her and it was courteous and he was even a cat lover!!! She would use the service again!! It was same day service!
Description of Work: Gas meter was reading double so they came out to replace the meter and while the guy was doing that he noticed a leak in the system and it was to a gas grill so they would not turn th e gas back on until they had it fixed. Guy came out in a couple of hours and he did every thing in 2 hours and disconnected the grill. Charged less then the estimate because it took less time.

He was friendly, courteous, and got the water heater restarted in no time. He noticed that my water heater was under recall and ordered the retrofit kits for it. I didn't pay a thing. :)
Description of Work: I have had a service contract with them for the three years that I have owned my home. This is the first time I've called in a claim. They cover my gas lines, water lines, furnace, water heater, and air conditioner. I called for service on my water heater. They sent out a subcontractor and he got the water heater started again. I paid nothing out of pocket.

+ -1 moreABC personnel were extremely professional and knowledgeable. ABC personnel rerouted the gas line and tied it into the existing service line. ABC personnel checked my riser system and the meters, cleaning all of the existing lines, cleaning and repainting the pipes and fittings, and re-attaching the system to my house and foundation with brand new supports without being asked. This was all above and beyond what was in the written estimate though we still paid the original estimate costs. When Columbia Gas showed up to inspect the work and turn my service back on, the field inspector was impressed with the work stating that he knew that it would be good because ABC always does good work. Overall it was a very good experience, the work was done right the first time and the estimate was accurate.
Description of Work: Gas service line was severed during excavation for a garage. ABC replaced and rerouted the service line restoring service to my house.
