John was fast about coming out to do the estimate and spent a lot of time answering my questions. He was hard to reach after that to confirm a date to start, though, so I almost hired someone else as a result. I had to call him to come back in several times to fix some of the work and paint sections that were missed as well as to clean paint off of my floors. I was pleased with his promptness in arriving when he said he would, and that he found some ways to reduce my cost a little. I'm confident in his cleanup procedures, but not satisfied with how many places I found they painted over peeled paint rather than scraping it all off on the windowsills, so the surface is not smooth.

They are very excellent. They are very professional.

We chose John Black for our project because some of it involved lead-based paint, and he has special training and certification in that area. He and his team painted a two car garage (inside and out), painted the parts of our house that are painted, cleaned the stone and brick, and tuckpointed the brick. They also removed and replaced a door that required custom work because it was a non-standard size frame, and did some interior painting. It's been almost a year since the work was done, and it still looks great. (Seeing how good it looked today with the spring flowers blooming reminded me that I should write a report on Angie's List.) We like this company because they do good work for a reasonable price. They are also licensed by the city, which is important to us and is difficult to find in a company that doesn't charge an arm and a leg. They don't do some of the flashy marketing other companies do, but ultimately that saves the customers money
