+ -1 moreApproximately 1-1/2 years ago I hired A-One for gutter repair and replacement of fascia and soffet. I was very pleased at the time and I left a positive report on Angie's List. Recently, during a wind storm, a section of fascia was torn partially loose from the front roof line of my house. I called John and requested a cost estimate to reattach the fascia. John was extremely professional on the phone, suggesting that moving promptly could save the material from damage, and advised that he had a worker in the area and that he would call back that day with an estimate. I was rather surprised when I received no call, until arriving home and finding that the work had been completed that afternoon. When I called John to thank him for the prompt action and ask if I owed anything for the repair, he responded "If we worked on it and it fails, it's on us." I was very impressed with John's sense of pride in his work and company.
Description of Work: Reattach fascia which had detached during extremely high winds.

+ -1 moreJohn, the owner, was prompt and acted very professional upon the first meeting. The installation was fast, however the downspouts were installed differently from how John and I had agreed upon. Also, a gutter was bowing out in the middle of the house. The original crew of 3 came back. The lead crewman was noticeably annoyed about being sent back. The other 2 crewman were professional. The lead crewman fixed one downspout while the other 2 crewman fixed the other. The lead crewman's downspout was not straight coming down the side of the house. I asked him to straighten it. He started arguing with me and also said they would not fix the bowed gutter and they didn't. I told him to leave. The other 2 crewman fixed the downspout. John, the owner, said he would send someone out to see if they could fix the bowed gutter. To see if they could fix it?! Well, I made the mistake of paying John after he promised to send someone out. I later called John twice with no response.
Description of Work: Replaced all gutters and downspouts on a small house.

+ -1 moreOverall, the job went well & the gutters look great. Very reasonable price. The only thing that threw me off was when I received a call from the installer stating they had just completed the job & he wanted to know where he could find the gutter guards that I had already purchased. This was a surprise because I did not know they were coming that day. The last I had heard is that someone would call me when they could fit me into the schedule. The next day is when I got the call. I was glad it happened so quickly, I just would have liked to been made aware of when they would arrive.

+ -1 moreAfter my initial call I received a faxed estimate from them within a few days. I returned the signed contract and they came out on the day they committed and completed the work in one day. Did a very good job of cleaning up. We had some minor damage to the landscaping. I had chosen the less expensive "leaf" guard without having ever seen it. It did not install very well with 6 inch gutters. John eventually came out and recommended that we use the leaf relief product. He removed the wire mesh and installed the leaf relief for the original quoted price. In hindsight, I should have asked to see the two products before making a decision. They were very good to deal with in this situation.
Description of Work: They replaced all of our gutters and downspouts. They also installed leaf relief on the gutters.

+ -1 moreThey did a nice job. My house is very old and the frame is not straight on all sides, so there were challenges at times to hang the gutters properly. I found a few nails and metal shavings here and there afterward, but the gutters look great. I had A-One back out recently (after about 6 months) to tilt some gutters a little further...I was seeing some water buildup. They came right out and fixed me right up.
Description of Work: Brand new gutters and downspouts (some sides first ever on the 100 year old house) on 2 stories of roofing plus a guest house.

+ -1 moreI called several gutter companies with high ratings on Angie's List. I was confident that A-1 was the best company for the job after my initial phone calls. John was professional and always answered or returned my calls quickly. He came out to do an estimate right away and it was the lowest we received. We scheduled them several weeks in advance to come out right after we had a new roof put on. They showed up right on time. They did great work for a great price and were very easy to work with. We love our new gutters and the Leaf Relief system works very well.
Description of Work: A-One removed all of our old gutters and installed new gutters with Alcoa Leaf Relief.

+ -1 moreI am very pleased with A-1 and their speedy service. I requested a few quotes from different gutter companies. A-1 was the only vendor who quoted me quickly and indicated on the quote that I wanted oversize 6" gutters and matching downspouts. Two other gutter companies quotes had this incorrect, forgetting this fact by the time they came out to inspect. Upon completion the crew removed my old gutters (which I had already pulled from the house) and left no debris at all. I also changed the gutter layout slightly, moving the downspout on the right rear corner of my house to the left rear corner. This required another 10 ft or so of material. I mentioned this to John over the phone, who honored the price of the original quote. You can't beat that!

+ -1 moreThe company was friendly and sent me an estimate via email. The gutters were installed within a week or two. They seemed to be working well and installed correctly. However, when I tested them, one of the old downspouts leaked (it apparently had a crack in the seam). When I called to report this, they said they would come out to replace the downspout for $50. This seemed an excessive charge to me considering the whole job was $195 (a fair price I thought). I wish they would have inspected the old downspout more carefully and replaced it upfront, or offered to replace it later for a fairer price. Basically, I was paying for a new job when it should have been part of the original work. Overall, I liked working with the company, but the part about the downspout didn't seem like good business to me. I have a small house, so maybe they thought it wasn't worth their time to follow up professionally.
Description of Work: They removed and replaced gutters and reused my existing downspouts (one was recently replaced and one was very old).

+ 0 moreIn the last round of torrential downpours, I noticed a leak from a window which I thought could be gutter related. A-One had installed new gutters for me a year ago. John Luft sent a crew to my house the same day I called (again, while it was still raining hard) to inspect the trouble spots. They inspected the gutters, cleaned one out, made some adjustments in another area and also visually inspected the roof to rule out other causes of the leak. Not only did John report to me by phone on the work they were doing that day, but he also followed up with a letter giving me some suggestions about how to avoid the problems in the future and gave me some references to other contractors who could help.
Description of Work: Gutter inspection and repair (adjustment) and clean out.

+ -1 morePhone calls were returned promptly--and the work scheduled within a week, at our convenience. They went to tie a downspout into a drain that was totally clogged with roots. They pointed out the situation, put a temporary downspout on to divert the water away from the house, and came back the same day the new drain was installed--to replace that downspout, also.
Description of Work: Put new gutters and downspouts on porch addition, as well as replacing downspouts around house with bigger size spouting. John was knowledgeable and thorough--very receptive to questions. The crew was friendly, skilled, timely, and cleaned up after the work was done.

+ -1 moreThey were fairly punctual, and price was the best I found! Workers called to let me know they had to delay one day because of rain. They left some gutter debris on the lawn, but otherwise cleanup was very good. Workers found a piece of rotted fascia board and replaced it after picking up a new board at lunch. Quoted me $50 for the extra and I was billed as quoted. Nice quality gutters, John helped me pick a nice matching color and reconfigure the layout, so they wouldn't stand out as much on the front of my house.

+ -1 moreA-One was very responsive. Evaluated the project and provided a quote and completed the work in approximately 10 days. They were punctual and professional. We had problems with one area of the gutter where rain water was running behind the gutter (between the gutter and the house) into a flower bed. A-One put a strip of gutter up to divert the water away from the house into the gutter. Because the area faces the street, they were very conscience of the appearance. I was very pleased with the work and the results.
Description of Work: Cleaned and repaired all gutters. Installed leaf guard.

+ 0 moreThe work was performed that Wednesday and since they used invisible fasteners, the gutters looked better than before. I got one other estimate and they wanted to charge my $275 for just reattaching my existing broken gutter. John was very prompt and easy to work with.
Description of Work: In the middle of the night on a weekend, of course, the bottom fascia of my 2nd story gutter came unhinged from the house. I called A-One on Monday morning and got an estimate from them later that day. The estimate included re-attaching/securing all my existing gutters, replacing the broken one and cleaning the remaining gutters.

+ -1 moreThe telephone receptionist was very courteous. A-1 was very prompt in providing an estimate. The price was extremely reasonable. I was so glad that they were willing to do such a small job. Two days after I sent in the approval for the estimate, they were at my house first thing in the morning. Forty five minutes later everything was complete. They even reattached a downspout with a new strap in spite of it not being included in the original estimate. The crew was quiet and efficient. If I ever decide to do the gutters on the rest of the house, they will be the first company I will call. It was a pleasure to do business with them.
Description of Work: Reattached a short segment of gutter that had fallen due to weight of snow and ice over the winter. Replaced a short segment of gutter on one side of entrance with 6 inch gutter with splash guard to prevent rain overflow splashing basement window.

+ -1 moreWhen I called the office the girl said she'd have to have the filled out estimate before scheduling and to sign it and send it in then she'd look for an appointment. She reiterated what the contract said, that if we found someone else to do the work first and didn't tell them they'd charge us a fee anyway. She was not very helpful or friendly. This company certainly doesn't deserve the A rating Angie's list has given it! ($150.00)
Description of Work: After an unpleasant exchange with the rude receptionist, an appointment was made for an estimator to come to our house to see the problem. Upon arrival, he was rude. The gutter was hanging loose and ready to fall off and he said it would be 3-4 weeks before the company could fix it. I asked him if he could do a temporary repair and he said he wasn't insured to climb on a ladder, but if I had a ladder I could climb it or get someone else to do so. When I expressed concern about the whole gutter falling down before his company could come out, he said then I was free to call someone else. When I said I felt he was being rude, he said that was because I didn't get the reply I wanted. I said there are many ways to explain a problem without being unkind, he just handed me the estimate, said I should fill it out and send it in by mail or fax, then call the office to set up an appointment. When I commented business must be good to be so cavalier about customers he shrugged and walked away.

+ -1 moreWe had been having trouble with one of gutters in the front of the house not being able to handle all the water from the torrential rain we were having in October. Our basement flooded numerous times because the gutters weren't working properly. We looked up A-One Seamless gutters on Angie's list, they came out the week after we called and gave us a detailed estimate for the work. We accepted and the following week they came out while we were at work and did all the work and left an invoice tucked in the door. My only complaint is that they left what looks like dirt from an old downspout or gutter on the back patio. Other than that, they did a beautiful job.
Description of Work: Replaced all gutters and upgraded all downspouts, adding an additional downspout on the west end of the house.

+ 0 moreCalled A-One to get estimate. They came out the next day without me needing to be there, and I got the estimate in the mail about a week later (they'll fax if you want). Price included cleaning and securing gutters, and installing two splash guards for all three units in my condo building. I previously told my two neighbors that I would pay for cleaning and securing the back gutters of all 3 condos myself, so I asked for a more detailed breakdown. They couldn't break down the price because they said they gave a bunch of discounts already. I ended up going with another company only because all we really needed was cleaning and re-securing gutters, and the other company was less than half the price.

John was very polite, professional, and personable. His crew was out at our house within four days of when I mailed the signed contract to John. The workers were efficient and completed the project in 2-1/2 hours. The gutters and downspouts look great; we're supposed to get rain this weekend, so that will be the true test.
Description of Work: Removed and disposed of old gutters and downspouts, furnished and installed new aluminum seamless gutters (with Alcoa Leaf Relief system) and downspouts.
