A-1 Quality Carpentry

We contacted Jeff in May and he talked with us about what we wanted and explained what could be done and gave us an estimate that was reasonable, especially with the 10% senior discount. He told us that it would be about 8 weeks before he could build because of being busy and the weather being so rainy. About 8 weeks to the day he called and said he could start work. The first day he and his helper used a powered auger to drill the holes for the footers. the second day they built the deck floor. The third day they built the handrails and step, which completed the project. The workmanship was very good, they cleaned the site and throughout were very courteous and professional.

They were fantastic.? They built a deck in two weeks like they said they would.? It is a large deck.?

A-1 Quality Carpentry did an excellent job despite unbelievably bad, rainy weather. ?They tore down the old deck, removed all the wood and then erected a new one. Clean, efficient and very capable they kept at in- on some days even with rain. I couldn't be happier that I am with Jeff Probe and his crew. I'll enjoy this deck and highly recommend this company. After they finished the job they did an excellent job cleaning up. The design of the deck is excellent and it looks as if it will last forever. Jeff from A1 Quality Carpentry was very professional and knowlegable. He did the estimate, the design, and the actual carpentry. His support staff was also very professional . The tear out of the old deck and fence was done with care not to damage my landscaping. All trash was hauled away. Jeff"s design was better than what I imagined. He asked questions and listened to what I wanted, and how I wanted to use the finished product. The contract was signed on April 20, 2015 and work began on June 2,2015. I was lucky; he started before the anticpated start date. I am very pleased with the finished product. My family and neighbors also love the deck & fence! I would definitely recommend A1 Quality Carpentry!

When we decided to finish our basement we received several OVER PRICED estimates for our smaller basement. When we contacted Jeff he gave a rough estimated immediately and then emailed the official estimate the next day. We were overjoyed at the reasonable price! When the work began, Jeff completed it himself since it was a smaller basement. The very first day he had all the framing up. As days went on it was amazing to come home and see the changes in the once dungeon-like basement. There was one day that he couldn't make it in and he called to let us know. He was extremely courteous and professional and gave us the quality as though he was working on his own basement! The project of turning our basement into a home theater was completed within 2 weeks. I wish we would have used him for our fence. I would DEFINITELY use Jeff again!!! Jeff we will be calling you for our deck.

I started the contractor search on Angie's List, searching and sorting the names and reviews in various ways. I liked the reviews for A-1 Quality, so I looked at his website and liked what I saw. Jeff Prude is the only person I contacted. His visit to my property and quote were prompt. He was able to fit my project in his schedule to meet a deadline that I requested. It was completed in one day - done and cleaned up when I got home from work! It was a lovely sight to see. After one meets Jeff, it's like you've known him for a long time. He is pleasant, professional, courteous, skilled, attentive to detail, and a quick thinker, giving me the pros and cons of my suggestions without hesitation. He's adaptable, to the point of constructing this pergola in inclement weather, using the carport for cover to cut the wood to "get the job done." I would offer his name to anyone looking for quality and professionalism. My only concern is that he will become too busy!

Jeff came to give me an estimate on a new deck at my house. Took measurements, and said he'd be in touch later in the week. Never received the actual estimate and never heard back.

The estimate he gave was reasonable and affordable for what was required.? Jeff went above and beyond to make sure that my wife and I were very happy and satisfied with our deck and our fence.? Our whole family has enjoyed our deck and plan on it for many years to come! The cedar privacy fence is very sturdy and elegant and will provide years of security for our family and our dog.? It was good and they were fine. It took longer than the initial.

Jeff Prude and his crew showed up on time and got a lot of work done. The first day they dug all the footers and poured concrete, they had to remove some of my concrete patio in order to put some of the footers in. The next day they built the frame for the deck and got it inspected. Then the weather turn to rain so they couldn't work until Friday,they got all the boards layed down on the deck. When they came back on Monday they started the roof and put the railing and spindles in, then on Tuesday they got the roof covered and shingled. The weather turned bad again and they came back on Friday and worked on enclosing the bottom of the deck and around the steps and put the gutters in and dug down in the ground and ran the down spout under ground and connected it to the other down spout from the house. They came back Monday and enclosed the bottom of the roof and put all the trim around the roof on and was finished. Took the 2 weeks but if the weather was better they would have been done in 1 1/2 weeks very pleased with there work and would defiantly hire them again.

We found Jeff Prude and A1 Quality Carpentry on Angie's List. Based on the glowing reviews, we decided to get an estimate from them to finish our basement. Mr. Prude's estimate was very reasonable and we decided to hire him. We could not be happier with that decision. If it was possible to give A1 Quality Carpentry and grade higher than an "A," we would. Before finding A1, we received estimates from some of the bigger companies and the price was ridiculous. We received an estimate from another contractor but then he was very unresponsive. Mr. Prude and A1 were the exact opposite. Not only was the cost reasonable, but they genuinely care about providing great service. Mr. Prude and his staff were courteous and professional. He worked with us to deliver exactly what we wanted. When a couple of issues arose, he worked to find a solution without driving up the cost. The quality of the work was outstanding and the finished product is exactly what we wanted. Mr. Prude is also very good at communicating the timeline for the project and keeps you up to date on his progress. Bottom line: A1 Quality Carpentry and Jeff Prude are honest, trustworthy and do outstanding work. We would hire them again for future projects and you should too.

It went good. I first contracted with him in August, and there were several delays in the start date. They ended up starting the job in December, which was the only negative thing about the job. Once the job was started he was very professional, punctual, and on-site every day. It is a very beautiful deck and I would use him again.

They were very knowledgeable and gave really good suggestions on the best design for the porch. I am retired and need the railings to help support me when I go up and down the steps so they replaced some cement steps and up in a wooden one with railings.

All went well. Jeff Prude was very good at keeping us posted as to when he would be able to come. He was understanding of changes we asked for and had a very good idea on how to make one section of the fence removable.

Our experience working with Jeff Prude and his company A-1 Quality Carpentry could best be described as "A+ Perfect" from start to finish. A-1 was one of four fence companies that we received an estimate from for constructing a wooden fence in the backyard at our home. His estimate was only one of two coming from the actual individual who was going to be leading the crew doing the work and, as one of the two smallest companies from whom we received an estimate, one of only two utilizing a single work crew for all his jobs from start to finish. His estimate was somewhat lower than the other estimates that we received but, in truth, coming in as least expensive was a relatively minor part of our decision to go with Jeff and A-1. Rather, we were most impressed throughout the estimate process with Jeff's professionalism in every respect. His was the easiest company to reach by phone and email and the most responsive to our initial inquiry. Throughout the estimate process he was also the best "listener" and the most responsive to our questions and concerns. He offered advice freely, but always with an eye towards addressing what we wanted and he never imposed his views on decisions that were, ultimately, ours to make. He gave us an honest assessment of what we might wish to consider in making our choices as well as an accurate estimate of when he would be able to get to the job. In truth, once all of our estimates were in, there was little decision for us to make, We were certain that we wanted to work with Jeff and A-1. The proof of the pudding, of course, is what happens when the work is ultimately performed. Here, we were not disappointed in any respect. After we signed on with Jeff and before the work actually began we remained in close contact with him and, indeed, made a few design changes in the fence that we had contracted. Jeff cheerfully and professionally worked with us to make the changes we wanted--which included things such as adding an additional gate to the fence, raising the height of the fence, and altering our choice of fence caps. All of these changes were made with only a marginal change in our cost. I'm certain that, in such circumstances, many companies would have found such alterations to be a basis for adding significantly to the cost of the fence that we had originally contracted. The work on the fence was done when Jeff said it would and while we were out of town, which is not something we would ordinarily allow. This underscores the complete confidence and trust that we had in Jeff, A-1 and the job that they would do. When the fence was completed, Jeff sent us several pictures showing us how it looked from a number of different angles and vantage points. When we returned home a few days later we were greeted by a fence that looked exactly as we had hoped it would--and a worksite that showed absolutely no evidence that a crew had been there doing a pretty big job just a few days before. The bottom line is that we can recommend Jeff Prude and his company, A-1 Quality Carpentry unequivocally, with the utmost confidence and with the greatest enthusiasm. This is not an endorsement that we make lightly nor, indeed, is it one that we make frequently.

They squeezed me in their schedule since it was a small job. The job was done exactly as we discussed. They did a very good job using quality materials and workmanship and at a fair price. They cleaned up after completion and the yard and fence look great. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

Mr. Prude, his staff and his product were all outstanding. Professional, timely, courteous, high-quality and very affordable on top of it all. We priced out several well-known fence companies besides A-1 because we didn't know what we were doing and wanted to be sure we got what we needed. A-1 had the best price by far with a nearly identical product. Our fence looks fantastic! Several neighbors and friends have already complimented the fence and asked for Jeff's information. We cannot believe others pay so much more (double in some cases). We had many questions in the process as we compared bids and options but Jeff patiently and professionally answered them. Most important of all to me was that I never felt like he was trying to sell me something I didn't want, which I cannot say about the other companies. Once we scheduled the installment, it was a few weeks out, but on exactly the day he said he'd start installing it, he did. His staff (no contractors) were also professional and courteous and were so neat we could barely tell (except for the fence!) that they'd been there. Toward the end of the installment, I nit-picked one bit on the front gate and he even patiently talked through the options and ended up staying late to redo the part right then. It was honestly the best experience we've ever had with someone doing work on our property. I highly recommend this company and their work. If we ever need other carpentry work done in the future, he will be the only person I call.

They did a good job. It just took them a long time to get to me. I think they estimated four to five weeks and it was more like eight to ten weeks. Once they did the job, it was good but it just took them forever to get to me. If they could have just told me eight to ten weeks, it would not have been so bad. I just had to keep calling and asking them. I met with Jeff in the beginning of May and I wanted it done by the end of June but they didn't get it done until the third week of July. It was about four weeks later than what they had originally told me. They did it in half a day once they got here. I chose them because they had such high ratings. I would use them again because they have good quality.

I called A-1 Quality Carpentry back in the summer and spoke directly to Jeff, the owner of the company. We set up a time to meet and he was prompt, came prepared and answered all my questions. ?He as able to provide me with a rough estimate for the job on the spot but emailed an official one within a few days. Due to having to complete jobs he already had booked, work didn't begin until September. ?Jeff kept me posted as time drew near to start my deck and kept in contact with me throughout. ?Jeff not only is the owner of the company but also does the work with the assistance of a few other employees which is nice. Jeff and the guys worked hard, did a great job of cleaning up all the scrap materials and completed the work as agreed upon ( I think even a bit more than agreed upon!). My deck and pergola look great and the boards Jeff used are thicker and more sturdy than the boards on the old deck. ?When I started the process of trying to find someone to do this job, I was discouraged by companies who gave outrageous quotes, didn't warranty their work, used sub contractors, and who didn't follow up with estimates as promised. Luckily, the weeding process leg me to ?A-1 Carpentry. ?I will definitely use them with any future carpentry projects!

First off, I must say that Jeff possesses the rare combination of technical expertise and great customer service. He was a pleasure to work with throughout the project and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a new fence. The project spanned three days. On the first day, Jeff?s team removed the old fence and posts. The new posts were set on the second day, and the fence boards were installed and the gates were constructed on the third day. The fence is sturdy, straight, and looks beautiful. The gates work great, and we?re happy to have the basketball hoop eyesore off of our driveway. A few notes? 1) We?ve never had a fence replaced before, and in hindsight I would have thought more about how the existing fence posts were going to be removed. Jeff?s team cut the existing posts ?flush to grade? (with the exception of the corner posts, which were dug up and removed). This is how Jeff told me it was going to be done, so it came as no surprise, but now that I see how it looks, I wish I would have asked how much extra it would have cost to fully remove all of the posts instead of just cutting them. 2) Make sure to communicate an exact date with your neighbors as to when the old fence is going to be removed. Both of our neighbors have dogs (we don't), and even though we told them we were going to have the fence replaced, we should have been more diligent about getting an exact date from Jeff a (at least a few days in advance) so that our neighbors could make arrangements for their dogs before the old fence was removed. 3) When I looked back at my estimate, it said the fence would carry a two-year warranty, but on the contract it says one year. I doubt this will be an issue though because the fence is very well built and Jeff seems like the kind of guy that would honor the two-year warranty if there was a problem. 3) We considered having Jeff replace our deck as well, and now that we see how great the fence looks, we would have no problem with asking Jeff to come back and replace our deck.

Jeff was great and the porch was finished in 1 week, once they started. There was a wait as they were booked up this summer, which my husband and I thought was a positive sign. The porch turned out even better than we had expected. My husband is very detail oriented and very particular on details, and he was impressed and happy with the job. Our neighbors have since hired them to do their back porch. And we are having Jeff back to quote re-doing our back porch. There logo is something like "Affordable and Good.." So true! i can't imagine those companies who quoted 2x and 3x more would have been better.

They did a great job building our fence.

They were very helpful and returned our phone call right away. However, their estimate came in a bit higher than someone else.
