Description of Work: We had Jeff replace our deck, fencing and shed. He was within our budget and had great reviews on Angie's List and BBB. I am so happy we hired him. He did a great job and we couldn't be happier with the results. He really cares about the quality of his work and took care of any little issues, like a board with a crack, without any complaints. He and his crew were a pleasure to deal with. I will definitely call him back if I need any carpentry work done in the future. If you need any carpentry work, look no further. Just call Jeff.

Had our basement (approx. 550 sq ft) finished. Included installing drywall, repairing/securing stairs, adding storage and access doors to crawl space and mechanicals. We had the work done several years ago and were very happy with Jeff's work - at the time, I believe his business was newer, so we were taking a chance and we are very happy that we did. The price of the work was very reasonable and we have had no major issues in the 7 years since the work was completed. Some of the materials used on the doors to our storage areas were of lower quality and have been a nuisance at times (coming off of the tracks, getting stuck on carpet, etc), but for the price, these were very minimal issues to deal with. Jeff did most of the work himself and would arrive in the mornings before we left for work. We were always comfortable having him work in the house during the day. He was very professional and reliable. Now that we have sold our home and are looking to purchase another, we would not hesitate to have A-1 Quality Carpentry come out to give us a quote on any new jobs we may want done.

Jeff was wonderful to work with. We also really liked his assistant Marty. Jeff's price for the job beat all other bids and his personality/demeanor sealed the deal. Jeff and Marty were pretty clean considering the scope of the job. We are very happy with the finished product as we just needed a functional space. I gave quality a B only because it seemed there was a learning curve for the job, with a few things not planned as well as someone with a lot of basement remodeling experience might have done (shower drain for the shower we chose, etc). The end of the job felt a little rushed and the finishing touches lacked some perfection. Examples include hollow core door being cut down for door frame with no wood being put back in the bottom to reinforce it, a piece of door frame being chipped and not repaired, painting very thin in spots and medicine cabinet scratches and pencil marks on paint not touched up, a wrench (?) scratch on the toilet rim etc --mostly cosmetic stuff). These are all minor things we can fix and based on other bids, we weren't willing to pay a thousand (or thousands) more for absolute perfection. I'm also sure Jeff would have made things perfect had we asked him to...but I think we were all pretty ready for the work to be finished! Jeff did go out of his way to do things not in the original bid and did not charge for this. For example, he put lights in the closets for us--and it was his idea, not something we asked him to do. He is a very polite, laid back, conscientious business owner and it was a pleasure to work with him. If I can figure out how, I'm attaching photos of his great work so you can see the finished product.

A1 and the owner, Jeff were great and had our fence completed within a couple weeks of us moving in. Quotes and all initial communication were done via e-mail, he usually responded within 24 hrs and was reasonably priced. Communication slipped slightly after the contract was signed, but it's a small company and our fence was started about when we expected it to be. We had a fence installed at our last house and A1 far surpassed our previous experience. The fence was completed quickly, seems very sturdy, and they were careful to clean up as they went along. They were respectful of ours and our neighbors' yard and were careful to clean up as they went along. Jeff was there most days and was great about getting our input, giving advice, etc. There was a delay waiting for our 4 ft boards so Jeff decided to cut down 5 ft so our fence could be completed, which with two high energy dogs we really appreciated! Overall we were very happy with A1 Quality Carpentry and would recommend them to anyone.

Like I said, he gave a good estimate. The other company was only 100 dollars cheaper but they were right here in Pickerington so we thought it would go smoothly. That wasn't the case. I should have hired A-1 who contacted me originally through Home Advisor . com
Description of Work: This gentleman was on time for his appointment and gave a good estimate. I wish we had hired him because we went with someone just a little cheaper who turned out to be a real dud! Next time I will obviously go with this company. Sorry I didn't this time.

We would highly recommend A1 Quality Carpentry for installing a fence. Jeff is such a professional contractor, he offered great advice based on his vast experience. It was a pleasure to work with him and his crew. We received six quotes from fence companies and Jeff?s estimate was by far the BEST for cost and quality. Jeff pulled all the permits, where 3 of the fence companies wanted US to pull the permits. Jeff installed the fence in the cold of winter and worked very hard. Our neighbors complimented how the team did such an excellent job putting in the fence posts with no disruption to their yard. They cleaned up after completion very nicely. We love our new fence.
Description of Work: Contracted with A1 Quality Carpentry to install a 288’ Privacy 6' high Cedar fence in our backyard. All posts were set in 80 lbs of concrete, so it is very strong. The gates were mounted on 6X6 posts which no other fence company offered. All materials were of the highest quality and my wife and I could not be happier.

We purchased a 50 year old home that needed to be updated from top to bottom so we have already worked with several contractors in the area. Jeff was definitely the best contractor we have worked with. We received several estimates. Jeff's was the best pricewise, but we also chose him because he does most of the work himself (except for the permitted electrical and HVAC) and didn't just manage a bunch of subs. Even when those few subs were working, Jeff was here the whole time. Jeff was extremely professional from the bidding process to finish, and was excellent in communication of every step of the process. As noted earlier, we have worked with many contractors in the past on this house and past homes, and have to say Jeff was one of the best we have ever experienced. He was timely, professional, knowledgeable, efficient and personable. Many times contractors and subs are miserable when working on your house and inconsiderate beyond their work area. Jeff was always pleasant and personable, and took extra care to keep his path to and area near his work area as clean as possible. We would definitely hire Jeff again in the future.

Jeff quoted the job the day after I called (much faster than some large fence companies can get around to us smaller customers). Jeff provided a reasonable price onsite, and followed up with an official quote, so there was no delay in information. Jeff and one other man (Mark I believe) built the fence during a 3 day period in January. They dug the holes out once the ground thawed and then did the panels in freezing temperatures. My fence was delayed due to weather, which didn't make me or the cooped up dogs happy, but Jeff made sure to be out at my house any day that the ground might thaw so he could get the post holes dug. he did everything he did to work with the weather since he doesn't have a match wand. I appreciate his patience and time on my project. My fence looks amazing, meets my needs, and was reasonable in price. I'd call Jeff back for other project
Description of Work: Remove old wooden fence, cut away old wire fencing (tried to remove the metal and cement posts, but couldn't without renting tools - another project for another day) matched a selected fence design, did 2 sides of the yard and two gates. Important things to note. I had 4 fence companies bid on the job, 3 of the companies told me the fence I liked was cedar (the fence was physically in my yard so they were looking/touching/etc.) Jeff said the fence was pine, stained to look like cedar. I called Jeff back, because if I was going to doubt anyone it would be the individual that said pine when everyone else said cedar. He said it was pine, showed how he knew, and my flooring guys (40 years in the business) agreed with Jeff that it was Pine. Thus I have a fence that actually matches, versus ended up with a more expensive cedar fence which wouldn't have matched in the end. Jeff took all of my concerns to heart: The type of wood, matching the other fence, making the fence VERY close to the ground (so dogs didn't dig out), very tight gates (so I can install a lock and key mechanism) and making sure any gaps where the fence and house met were properly covered and dealt with so that no dogs could escape. I really appreciate that Jeff could meet my expectations and my needs, even when I doubted the cedar/pine situation!

Overall + Excellent. Elapse time between tear-down and completion was less that three weeks; most of the time was waiting for Gahanna building approvals of I think about three different steps. Jeff did all the work himself. No subcontracting either! This was another plus in my decision to contract with A-1. Jeff is an excellence carpenter and a fast, hard worker, working in the rain and darkness, taking about three days to actually remove the old and install the new. He explained what would be done next day as he went along, either at the end of the day or by a phone call.
Description of Work: A-1 Carpentry was one of three companies who submitted estimates to tear-down and remove my old deck and install a new replacement. Actually Jeff responded by phone while I was still submitting estimate requests on the internet. He came out right away, did his measurements and gave me a written estimate at that time. The others took several days to respond. One had to get approval from the manager before giving an estimate. I chose A-1 for promptness, eagerness and being in the price range I wanted.

A-1 was one of three companies that responded to my request for a quote on a wood privacy fence. We chose A-1 and Jeff because of his body of work, his professionalism, the style of fence he offered, and the price. His happened to be the lowest quote we received, but that was not the biggest factor in our decision; we could tell from the start that he was the kind of contractor we would want to work with on such a big project. His past work and the products he offered also made him our top choice: his portfolio was varied but consistently beautiful in terms of workmanship, and he offered both cedar and treated pine in the shadowbox style that we wanted. We ultimately needed about 320 linear feet of fence, and we chose to go with the treated pine in a shadowbox style. Poor Jeff endured lots of schedule changes, complications, and waiting in order to get our fence installed, but he was always patient and laid back about any hiccups (or at least projected those qualities to us, which is just as important). A few weeks after we had signed our contract--at which time the start of construction was imminent--our neighbor agreed to allow us to remove a section of her chain link fence; it would "clean up" the property line, but it really threw a wrench into our schedule! (Jeff had said this would be included in the price of our fence, which we thought was great!) There was a lot of back and forth about whether or not some small trees at that fenceline needed to be removed, but Jeff was able to remove the section of fence without removing the trees. He spent a few hours on a Saturday cutting away sections of the fence link by link in order to save the trees and grapevine! We did end up paying $200 extra because of the difficulty of removing that section of fence, but we were happy to compensate him for all the work. Our fence was installed piece by piece over about a week, with Jeff doing what he could when he could do it. It looks beautiful, and we could not be happier with it! It adds security, value, and curb appeal to our home. If there was a grade higher than "A," Jeff Prude would have gotten it from me. He is a one-man mobile business: he uses his iPad to record measurements and show customers his portfolio, and he uses a Swipe terminal to accept payments via credit card, with a receipt emailed almost instantly. He was so incredibly responsive ALL THE TIME. He always explained what needed to be done and how he would do it. We loved the fact that he did a lot of "ninja" work, and we would come home to post holes all around the yard or posts and rails going up. Since we both work full-time, it was a relief not to have to worry about being home so that the work could be done! Another thing that amazed us is that he seemed to do almost everything by himself. (Since we weren't home for the digging of the holes and the setting of the posts, I can't be sure he didn't have someone to help with those parts, but every time he was there while we were home it was just him!) When he was finished, he gave us a little tour of our "new" yard and imparted some wisdom about maintaining the fence, which we appreciated. He encouraged us to call if we ever needed anything else or had any questions, and I know he meant it. A fence is a huge investment, and it's one of those things you should do right or not at all. We're confident that hiring Jeff was money well spent, and our home, our pets, and our yard will all be benefitted by the quality of his work. I know that the only way we'll ever need another fence is if we move or have a huge disaster or stay in this house for decades, and if any that happens we'll be calling Jeff again!
Description of Work: Jeff gave us an estimate for a 6' wood privacy fence. We hired him to install one of the styles he had quoted, and he installed the fence over the course of about a week. He also removed one side of a chain link fence (with our neighbor's permission) so that we wouldn't have two fences on the property line. Along with our fence, he installed 2 gates.

It was a very nice experience. Our fence looks beautiful and we are very happy with the finished job. We do not have any complaints.
Description of Work: We had a very good experience with this company. The owner Jeff Prude came out to give us a quote the same day I had called him. He gave us a very reasonable rate. He actually started earlier then the date he gave us the appointment for fence installation. He took a couple of days to finish it, since he works by himself and one other person. We are very pleased with overall performance and quality of work and professionalism Our fence got a lot of complements from the neighbors and even the neighbors , who live farther down the neighborhood. I already recommended him to our friends and family.
