 + -1 moreChad got here a few days late, to provide an estimate. This was due to a heavy workload. We agreed on the scope and cost, and I was told it would be 4 to 6 weeks out time. As it turned out, they were able to work it into their schedule a few weeks earlier. The work crew came as promised, took care of the problem and the walk is as good (or better) than it was originally. No landscaping was damaged, and the area cleaned up like they were never here.
Description of Work: Building scraps that the builder buried, started to rot causing the sidewalk to the front door to sink, causing a trip hazzard. A-1 Concrete Leveling came out and provided excellent remedial service.

 + 0 moreThe young men were very helpful. Explained things to my husband who was fascinated by the ability to do this. They cleaned up after them selves and always announced their comings and goings. They were polite and hard working. Never wasted time.Patient with our questions and even carried a rug out for us that we decided was too bad to go back in the area being fixed. Being seniors that was greatly appreciated. The walls turned out to be worse than we expected. It looks great now and we feel a lot safer. They were respectful of our neighbors property and answered their questions . Our homes are fairly close. We will never use anyone else. They treat you like family- can't ask for more. Update as of 2/9/12: Couldn't be better!!!
Description of Work: A30ft. side wall,23feet of front wall and 9 feet of the back wall- The two larger ones had to be moved back 2in. - hydraulic jacks were used to push the walls back that were bulging in -a gas line and window were part of this area. Walls were pushed back in place inside and outside the dirt was dug out to the foundation- 2 holes were drilled in each concrete block and rebarb rods run top to bottom of the foundation and cement pumped in to stabilize the basement walls and make them solid. All cracks were filled and neatly covered inside and outside. Plastic was laid to protect our floor. A sump pump was installed. The drain was redone and deeper in ground. Stone for drainage was put at bottom of the ditch and then dirt. In 4-6 weeks they will be back to level ground, add top soil and plant grass seed. AMAZING! Update as of 2/9/12: The work was described in detail a year ago. But I believe if it is still standing up to a job well done, that others should know that too. A year can make a big difference. We have now been through all the seasons and still holding strong. Great Job A-I.

 + -1 moreMr. Nichols diagnosed the problem and gave me an estimate on 9/14 that I accepted on 9/16 and asked how soon the job could be done. On 9/17 Dan and James arrived to do their portion of the job! On 9/21 Aaron, Steve, and Al did their portion. All that remains is for the dirt to settle (14 to 30 days) and to be re-graded with the grass to be restored. I have confidence that that will go as it is supposed to because all the fellows know what they are doing, are prompt, do not waste time, and have the necessary tools and equipment that are also work ready. The men are professionals and they use professional equipment. I am amazed by the finished product and quality work. Although the job was costly, the estimate was in-line with or better than other estimates and came with a lifetime warranty that is transferrable. When I consider what I saw A-1 do, the cost of the men's expertise, the cost of the equipment that is used, and when I look at the front of the house, I think the work done was worth every penny!
Description of Work: A portion of a brick wall of my front porch had sunk and there was about a quarter inch crack about 2 or 3 feet across. This wall supports a stone arch. Clearly, if the problem were not to be resolved, it would be on its way to developing into a major mess that would considerably threaten the integrity of my home and would considerably de-value it. Dan L. and James L. came on 9/17 and got right to work. The job was completed 7.5 hours later. Dan and James have the knowledge, the on-the-job EXPERTISE, and work with each other so well that I think they ARE the Dream Team! They had the patience and the articulation to explain everything they were doing and why in language that I understood. Before they put back the dirt, they showed me the piers (spelling?) that they had set that lift and hold the footer in place. Afterwards, they tucked and pointed where needed. If I had not known how the wall was before their work, I would not know now that there had been a problem. Those two fellows and their machines are amazing and so is their work:I think this line of work is the dream job for the dream team because they obviously enjoy their work and are proud of what they can do, and that work has a lifetime warranty that is transferrable! I also had a sunken sidewalk where the sidewalk met my concrete stoop. On 9/21. Aaron, Steve, and Al came and put the sidewalk back in place in about an hour. It does not sound like much in words, but this job also took expertise: drilling holes in the existing concrete porch, getting concrete into an underneath section while maintaining a draining slope and alignment with the rest of the concrete-- it took three men keeping at it to repair it. My house looks so much better, but more importantly, it has regained its structural integrity.

 + -1 moreThe two employees came on time, were pleasant, efficient, and professional. They drilled two holes on the concrete slab and injected a slurry mix to raise the slab. The work took about an hour. They filled the drilled holes and cleaned up any mess before they left. I was fully satisfied with the work and the cost. It is to be noted that the cracked end of the patio concrete slab is still noticeable as cracked and caulk filled, but I did not want to spend anymore money for a more extensive fix. If I had to do over, I would have asked for other options and their costs to do the fix and then make a decision.
Description of Work: I had a 10'x3' portion of patio concrete slab which had settled down on one end and caused the other end to crack off the main slab. A-1 Concrete Leveling raised the settled end and caulk filled the cracked end.

 + 0 moreI had two jobs completed by A-1. The leveling/cleaning was completed by the Mt. Gilead office and went VERY well. I was told the extension would be done second but no one ever called to schedule the extension. I had to call several times before I finally reached someone who said they would get back with me when Ron was back from vacation. They still didn't call and I had to call again a couple times before I got a date. They did come out and dig on the date they specified; however, they dug a 20' x 16' patch instead of the 22' x 16' quoted. I called and left a voicemail, no response. I called again and got the office worker who told me they should be calling me. Still no calls back. Also, several days went by with no further work completed. I figured it was due to the weather; however, it would have been nice to have received a call stating as much. Finally, I did hear from someone who said they would dig out the "extra" 2 feet. I was never provided a date that they would come back and finish. They just seemed to come and go as needed until finally everything was done. I was then billed for my original estimate plus an additional 2'. I made a photo-copy of my quote showing the 22' x 16' and sent a check for the original estimate only. The extension looks great and I am very happy with it, but I would not use the Columbus office of A-1 leveling again.

 + -1 moreWe had about 7 different estimates, and everyone else offered either steel I-beams or carbon fiber to brace the walls from the inside. No one professed to have ever heard of reinforcing the walls with concrete. We found A-1 Concrete at a home show, and were happy to find out we could strengthen our walls by essentially pouring concrete pillars within them. They did everything they said they would do and in the time frame they anticipated. The crew was pleasant and hard-working--their crew chief, Danny, was the best. Before they ever landed the job, they invited us to come to a current worksite so we'd have an idea of just what was involved. When we showed up, they basically gave us a tour of what they had done and what was left to do, along with differences and similarities between the current job and what ours would entail. They were not the most expensive bid, either. We are very pleased.
Description of Work: They dug down to the footer around the entire house, used hydraulic jacks to push the walls back into place, sealed the outside of the walls with tar, put in drainage pipe covered with fine mesh, and backfilled with triple-washed gravel. Then--this is the best part--they reinforced our concrete block with cement that they piped into the block. (They drilled 3-inch holes into every third block near the top of the foundation and pumped cement so that it ran down the holes inside the blocks below.) We also have a lifetime warranty.

 + -1 moreThese guys are unbelieveable!! Came to do the job and it was a very difficult job because the front porch is large and was difficult to raise. They kept at it and did the job better than I expected - and some of the work was performed in a steady rain. They had to do quite a bit of digging in order to get under the porch and walk and quite a bit of lifting with a crowbar. There was alot of mud and concrete all over the place but the clean up was fantastic. All I have to do is fill in a liitle bit around the work area which is what I expected. If you need this kind of work done check these guys out - you won't be disappointed!

 + -1 moreWe had an uneven place in our sidewalk which had been there for years. We got A-1's name and number through our Civic Association and called them. They had someone out within a couple of days. He described exactly what needed to be done and how much it would cost. A few days later, a crew came out and did the work. The leveling seemed to work very well and is hardly noticeable. One of the holes didn't seem to be filled in all the way, but we're calling them back to fix it, which they said they would. UPDATE: They never returned to fill in the hole. Also, one of the panels cracked in between the two places where they leveled it.

 + 0 moreScheduled an appointment within a couple of days of my call. Owner came out & looked over the property. Told me what he thought I should do. Said he'd email me with an estimate. Gave no indication that he wasn't interested in the work. After a month, I hadn't heard from him and called company to see why not. Person who answered the phone, said she'd give him the message. Now it's a month later, and still no word. Obviously, they aren't interested in the job. I really wanted to get this job estimated & possibly taken care of while I was off work. By wasting my time like that, it is no longer possible. I'll have to call somebody else, but I would sure like to know why they didn't want the job. Might make it easier to find a company that does want the business.
