The only thing I did not like was that it took a long time for them to get to my job. I know that there were weather issues, and he was backed up, but it did take awhile to get to my job. But, on the bright side, when they finally felt comfortable with a date, they were there on time, and had the job done in two days. the fact that I would use them again out weighs any kind of wait time.
Description of Work: I needed my Garage jacked, and a new foundation and floor repaired. Once the garage was jacked, we realized that jacking the floor would not work, so instead a new floor was poured. Although it added to the cost, the owner worked with me to minimize the additional cost. They were prompt, and worked very quickly. I am extremely happy with the new floor in my garage, and knowing that my foundation is now stable.

They kept us informed of delays due to weather. However, once the work started, they quickly and efficiently completed the work. It required hand digging as well as small equipment drilling. They replaced all the dirt and plants that were moved during the work and reseeded the grass that was damaged by the equipment. The only issue we had concerned the holes that were dug. Two days after the work was completed, we had a heavy rain and we woke up the next morning to sinkholes around the back of the house. It did not detract from the work they did, but we did have some shoveling that needed done. Overall, we were please with the work that was done.

The workers arrived on the date promised and worked in incredibly hot circumstances. The old driveway was removed, and prep work was completed in two days time. The concrete was poured on the third day, and final detailing was done on the morning of the fourth day. Everything was replaced perfectly, i.e., stonework, sod, etc. They gave us detailed instructions on when to use the driveway and what not to do.

Their reaction to the crushed register was that I should buy a smaller register. There are not smaller registers to buy. They were not willing to fix the problem. In addition, my kitchen cabinets pulled away from the wall due to all of the vibration from the drilling.

The initial worked seemed ok, but after a few months the poor quality started to show. It took several calls (I eventually started keeping track and noted calling on 05/06/2011, 05/27/2011, and 06/10/2011) to get them to come out to even look at my concerns. When they did try to fix it (on 06/23/2011), they just made the walk/step look worse. There was a stick poking out of the patchwork when they left. I called to complain and the leveler called back to complain about my complaint. On 06/24/2011 they promised to correct the problem. By 08/13/2011 I sent my complaint via certified mail and received a call on the 15th. The work was properly completed on the 16th. The work has been done to my satisfaction, but the experience was very frustrating. My original rating (an F) was before they came out with their final repair.

The estimator came 4 days after my initial call and was very courteous. The work was completed 30 days after the quote was accepted. Considering all of the rain we had in June that was very good. The workmen were knowledgable, polite and did a very professional job. We were very satisfied with the whole experience.

I was not happy on the day of the service because they were supposed to call me when they arrived at my house. When I arrived home after they had completed I found several things wrong. First of all my front steps were uneven and there was a hole still open between the last step and the sidewalk. That was supposed to have been fixed originally. I called the next day and left a message for the worker to call me but I didn't get a call back until 2 days later. During that time I discovered while they were working they had touched the wire connected to my pole light. This caused the breaker to trip causing the power to go off in my basement and pole light. Also, I discovered they are not responsible for any damages done if THEY cause a problem with any utility lines. So I had to dish out $70 to have an electrician come out to make sure there was still power going to the light or the line had been cut. Luckily the line hadn't been touched but it appears the sensor had been blowen when the breaker tripped. That means I will have to shell out more money to get this fixed. I would think a company like that would have contacted the utility company to come out "for free" to mark where the lines are located. They finally fixed the issues to my satisfaction but I'm not happy with the entire experience and I WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN!.

They did a good job. Their people were good. They guy who gave me the bid was nice. He wasn’t pushy. The two guys who showed up to do the work, they worked well as a team. They had fifteen years experience. That was comforting. They were really nice. They cleaned up well and that was nice. They came back when they said they would. I would use them in the future.

I called A1 to level a section of our driveway that was cracked & had been sinking. All went very well with the estimate to the work done. The workers were courteous and explained what they were doing and answered other questions I had about other concerns (erosion around other concrete). However, I heard the workers talking as they were finishing that they only had a little caulk left, one saying, "We better have more than that." I had to leave briefly to pick up my child from school and when I returned, they were gone. The crack was very visible, as the caulk had just sunk into it. I thought they'd call to say they'd be back, but when they didn't, I called. He said it was because it was self-leveling.... Anyway, they did come out to fix it. If this was the end, I'd have given them an "A". The reason I gave them a "D" on professionalism is due to a small error on their part that has cost us significantly. They used our hose while working, which meant they had to turn on the spigot at the side of the house AND the main faucet against the house (there's a buried hose connecting the 2). However, they failed to turn off the main faucet at the house, which went unnoticed for MONTHS -- until the buried hose froze, broke and we got an enormous water/sewer bill. It was only then that we realized it was turned on, something we always make sure we turn off since the same thing had happened to us before. Because it had been months and we couldn't PROVE it was them that left it on, I let it go. YESTERDAY, we turned on the outside faucet for the first time since this happened and noticed it was leaking...then discovered our basement was flooded! I called a plumber and just described what happened yesterday and he said that happens when the water is left on and it freezes. Again, they did a fine job on the driveway. For all I know, another worker turned the water off than who turned it on. It was an oversight, but it has (and continues to) cost us (over $100 extra in utilities, plus an increase in our budgeted amount by $20/month). I?d probably use them again, but would keep a close eye and check anything they?ve used.
Description of Work: From the contract: Drill, fill, raise and level 2 sections in middle of drive. 1 cracked section is down about 1.5". When leveling is complete we will cauld the crack with self leveling caulk.

We were pleased that the quality of the concrete was a consideration, as they used 4000 psi, with wire mesh in the driveway. Other contractors may use less durable materials. Jose and his crew worked efficiently and with great care to make sure the finish on the concrete was exact. The final step was to seal the concrete. Jose was very helpful, friendly, explaining each step and answering all of our questions. They were careful to clean the asphalt before leaving, and asking if we were satisfied with the work. We are very satisfied and are enjoying the appearance of the entire front of our property.
Description of Work: We had A-1 Concrete Leveling (reviewed earlier) repair a major foundation problem at our house. Due to cold weather, the pouring of concrete to replace a patio and sidewalk was delayed until Spring. During the wait, we decided to add other concrete work to the final step, which included a larger patio, a small additional sidewalk, and replacing half of our asphalt driveway with concrete. The concrete crew arrived once the weather permitted, and in the course of three days completed the work. Jose and two other workers arrived on a rainy day, measured and put down the forms. The next day, with better weather, the concrete was poured, and by the end of that second day all of the concrete work was complete. On the third day, they spread topsoil and reseeded the areas of the lawn that had been disrupted during the foundation repair in the Fall.

Throughout the process, the office manager, Linda, was key to our communication. When she promised to take an action, she did. Calls were returned in a timely fashion, and questions through e-mails were answered quickly. We are extremely pleased with the overall experience. While expensive, it was necessary to prevent even more costly damage if left unrepaired. The competence of the crew, their pleasant yet professional demeanor, and the eventual follow-up in the Spring to pour concrete and reseed the areas damaged by the equipment are all indicators of the customer-centered approach of this company.
Description of Work: In August of 2010, we noticed that our slab had dropped on the lower level of our house, which is the family room, and contacted a local civil engineer to assess our problem. He determined that our foundation had been compromised, resulting in the slab dropping in various places, and we had cracks in the foundation as well. We researched contractors that could address our problem, and settled on A1. This decision was influenced by the positive ratings and reports on Angie’s List, and A-1’s Better Business Bureau rating. Additionally, another contractor we contacted wanted $400 to come to our home to do the estimate, which we found unacceptable. Ron Nichols, owner, came to our home and determined that the footer would need to be leveled, and the slab raised. He prepared an estimate and we agreed. We exposed the slab on the interior, and the A1 foundation crew worked for approximately 10 days in November, 2010. The crew of four men worked in a highly coordinated fashion, exposing the footer on the entire front and part of another side of the house. They drove 20 helical anchors down to bedrock, attached headers to the anchors, and leveled the footer. When that was completed, the exposed slab on the interior of the house was pumped, after drilling one inch holes every four feet in the slab and pumping the cement until the slab was returned to it’s normal level. The crew leader (Dan) and the rest of the crew went to great lengths to make this process as easy as possible on the homeowners. He was patient with our many questions, explained the steps before beginning, and coordinated the process with efficiency and professionalism. The total cost of the repair was $24,658, which was the original estimate amount. This included installation of 20 helical anchors, pumping the entire lower slab, and restoration of the property to original condition. The effect of the repair was to restore our fireplace to its original condition (the bricks separated when the slab dropped), restoring doors, returning windows to plumb, and we now are confident that no underground water can dislodge our foundation as we are anchored on bedrock. The final step, final grading, seeding, and cement work were delayed at the request of the homeowner due to the arrival of cold wintry weather. Upon contacting A-1 this spring, they returned quickly to do the final cement and seeding work to our satisfaction.

Horrible. I called and left messages numerous times over a three week period starting on 3/21/11. I received a call back on 3/23/11 stating that some one would come out and perform an estimate as well as answer the questions regarding the potential repair the following week. No one showed up, and I left messages asking for a call back and giving them the benefit of the doubt. I will not be contacting them in the future due to the fact that at least four messages starting from 3/21/11 and over a three week period were not returned I am not sure what is going on but I am disappointed.
