A-1 Concrete Leveling

Job was suppose to take a week. Had bad weather and took approx 7 weeks. Constant miscommunication between workers and office. A-1 did not fulfill contract and left the yard a mess. If anyone would like more info may contact me through Angie's list.

They arrived on time. The process was done effectively and efficiently. They drilled holes in the sidewalks and approached and filled them with a leveling agent. the sidewalks look great.

They were great. They did fantastic work. They did a good job. They are coming back again this week to give me another estimate on another problem. I definitely wouldn't call them back if I didn't like what they did. The price was reasonable. They were here right on time. They did the work while I wasn't home.

See above: All the contractors I called were scheduled into October. A-1 managed to fit me in within a week of my call. The work was done promptly and so far as I can tell, the problem is solved. I thought the price quite reasonable.

We had contacted another company to repair the foundation settling. That company actually began the work to correct the leaning chimney, but determined that they couldn't fix the problem and left the foundation and chimney compromised. We contacted A1 and when they realized the severity of the problem, they worked very hard to rearrange their schedule. We originally thought that the work would be performed over two days, but the crew was able to get the job completed in one day. A1 has also offered to come back and seed the part of the yard that was torn up by the machinery, which was something we never asked them to do. Their customer service was very good from the first phone call to the completion of the project.

A1 seems to be extremely difficult to reach via telephone or email. They do not return phone calls which forces the customer to keep calling, time and time again, day after day, morning, nights, weekends. Once the customer does reach A1, they will tell you that 'someone' will be at your home at a certain time and they won't show up on time. Sometimes, they don't show up at all which requires more calling. We had foundation repair work done in November 2011 and have continued to have problems. I would not recommend A1 because of their lousy customer service, inability to keep appointment times, lack of punctuality, and poor responsiveness.

I would not recommend this company unless you like wasting time

I was out of town when they came to do the work....I got a call from my wife that in the process of straightening the chimney a very large crack had formed in the basement wall. I met the owner at my house (Tom I think) and he showed me that not only had the chimney moved over the years but the basement wall had moved also. The previous owner repaired the wall movement with tuck pointing so Tom did not realize the wall would be an issue at the time the original quote was given. Tom indicated two more piers would be needed to support the wall and offered to install them at his cost. They installed the two additional piers on the wall, tuckpointed the cracks and put sealant on the outside wall. This is why I use Angies List, when something goes wrong is REALLY when you find out the quality / integrity of the contractor. In this case A1 stepped up to the plate when things did not go as planned. Very happy with their work and would recommend them.

A friend told me about them and I give them an A on everything.

I called the company to inquire about fixing a curb (after seeing the television advertisement), and the first person I talked to at the company told me I would get a call back that day. A week passed, so I called back and talked to someone different, who told me someone would call me ... no call back. Another week passed and I called for the third time (thinking they were really busy and I'd give them the benefit of the doubt). A different person answered the phone and said, "oh, they are too busy to do any more work this summer". If I were the owner, I'd be very unhappy that the person answering the phone said they couldn't take on any more business (even if they are busy -- a referral is a good way to build relationships). I'm saddened that they couldn't live up to their advertising as I was very interested in doing business with them. I suggest that the owner take time every day to return phone calls, even if they are not available to do the job. It's just good business.

The answering machine said they'd get back to me in a couple of days. Yesterday (a week later), after not hearing back I called & left another message - but I'm done waiting.

The amount of work they did was about 1/3 of what they estimated so I insisted that I only pay 2/3 of the estimated price, and they agreed. They were not able to fix the problem with the floor.

Linda was very professional throughout the whole process. Chad did the estimate, was on time and very informative. Steve and Aaron ( I hope I have those names correct) were on time, did their job well and were very polite. After the job, the area was cleaned and everything was explained clearly. Thank you!

Work was done in a satisfactory and timely manner.

My husband said that their workmanship was fine. We had seven hills pierce put underneath the house and it seemed to crack the problems that were going on and we hadn’t had any problems since then. The guy that owns it was pretty good about the charges or estimate as it included fixing our lawn or reseeding the damaged part after they got done. We decided to do it ourselves so we asked him to refund a little bit of money and he did it and sent a cheque right away. So he seemed to be pretty responsive to that. We had interviewed three different companies and they seemed to have the best compromise between the project proposal and price. His price was lower than one of the companies and higher than the other one which was just because his plan involved more pierce and it was the one we chose that ended up having more pierce than the original guy that we talked to. So they seemed to be the best in terms of what they proposed or what kind of price they could do was the best. Their guys despite the terrible weather kept working. It was getting colder outside and because of that they had some difficulties with the equipments and they had to get more stuffs to get going. It took them a little longer to finish than it was anticipated and I think it was because of the weather. They did a nice job. Their price was fair because of the work that they had to do. The quality of work was good.

They were efficient, came when they said they would, and they did a quality job.

They did a good job. It cost me less to repair the sidewalk rather than dig it up and replace it. I would use them again.

I found them on Angie’s List and I was satisfied with them. They were prompt and did what they said they were going to do. Six months later, I looked out there and it was still the way they had left it. I’ve had work done on it since, because the slabs had bricks in between and I’ve had another guy come in and rise in the bricks up to the same level. They had to finish the patio again because it was a mess. A-1 Concrete Leveling did the work afterwards, and everything looks good. We really hadn’t needed it and he couldn’t do it until the fall. The cold weather came; so we haven’t had an opportunity to enjoy it, but I am sure that we will. I have no negatives at all; so I’d have to day he was excellent. I really can’t grade the price because I didn’t call anyone else. I was comfortable with the price and it seemed good. They could have charge me twice as much and I probably would have swallowed it and done it because I don’t know how much that costs. I had no reason to go to someone else when they quoted me a price. They have a 3 year guarantee and hopefully in 3 years it will still look good. I can’t project that, but right now it looks fine. I think their responsiveness and punctuality was fine. I didn’t have any problem with any of the workers; there were 2 workers there and they were fine.

They were fantastic. They were quick and there was no mess. There wasn’t much between us. They came, they did the job, they took off. I would most definitely use them again and recommend them to anybody.

Their price is fair. The people were really nice. The porch looks great.

It was very interesting to watch how it was done. Our front steps have been slowly sinking for the past several years, along with a portion of our sidewalk and we decided this year to get it taken care of. We were very pleased with the finished look and the price charged.

The work went well with only a few responsiveness issues. I believe I even gave them a favorable review on Angie's List when the work was completed. The only snag we had was the concrete slab that was made was only 20x16 and the concrete slab I wanted (and was quoted) was to be 22x16. I called the company when I saw the concrete did not cover the entire area and they immediately came out and fixed it for me; however, when I received my invoice, they tacked an extra $166.40 to the overall bill for the extra 2 feet of concrete. When I paid the bill, I sent them a copy of the estimate showing that the estimate included a 22x16 slab at the original price and I only paid the original price, not the extra $166.40. That was in June of 2010. I never heard from them again so I never thought twice about it and just figured it was a mixup in the estimate/work. Today (1/4/2012), I received a letter from A-1Concrete Leveling stating that unless I pay them the $166.40 owed, they will take me to small claims court. They also state they have "repeatedly" tried to contact me on this matter. I currently live at the same address where the initial work was done. I have the same home phone number. I have the same cell number. I have not ONCE heard from A-1 about anything to do with this bill. I am very upset that this company would not contact me in good faith if they did not understand the discrepancy in bill vs payment. I pay all my bills on-time with no issue. I would have had no problem discussing this with them and showing them my estimate (again) showing the amount that I was quoted (and paid). I can only imagine that they assumed I had probably thrown away all my records on the estimate and payment by this time; however, I still have everything. I would hope A-1 would do a much better job of customer service moving forward.

Great experience. On time for the estimate and the scheduled work. Saved me over 50% of what it would have cost to replace. The 2 man crew was very professional and did a great job. I'm very pleased with their work and will recommend them to my friends.
