+ 0 moreThe workers performed most requested jobs except for "tuck pointing" on North side of house in cement block area. Technicians advised appropriately on what to do. Technicians used owner Ron Nichols prescribed "sika" product to fill cracks in garage floor. Used hand grinder in some areas needing smoother finish. Utilized polyurethane caulking gun on horizontal cracks in a couple of spots. Diligently worked for two hours today and performed all previously agreed 11-2013 upon problem areas to our satisfaction. Cleaned up appropriately as well. There is only one problem with this job. We submitted our request and had the owner, Ron Nichols, examine the job on November 6, 2013. It took multiple calls (6 to 8) in six months to finally get this job completed. We are deeply saddened that we could not grade higher, but we thought we were actually very patient as we understand how busy A-1 concrete is. Our original job was $3300. While this by comparison is a small job to them, we are still no less important. This job carries a five-year warranty, we hope the concrete leveling job originally performed in 2012 will perform well. We are hoping no further damage/settling evidence emerges.
Description of Work: Service technician, Aaron with assistant Leroy, refilled cracks on garage floor. Also used hand grinder as needed. Also filled one crack in lower-level laundry room and outside on Northwest corner of garage. Also evaluated settling from initial job performed February 2012.

+ 0 moreVery reasonable quote, fast service, nice staff. Not sure of the procedure. It had something to do with drilling small holes and jacking up the slabs to make them even. Neat process. I would definitely use them again.

Only negative is that it didn't permanently level the driveway--it is still shifting about 1 year later. They said they were very willing to uphold their warranty when the job was done... looks like we'll need to take them up on that.

A lot of the other companies that we talked to didn't do the leveling, they actually wanted to replace the sidewalk which would have been quite a bit more. They just did a very good job and cleaned up after themselves.

There were some initial delays due to my re-scheduling, due to weather, due to communication miscues, and then the contractor got hung up on a large project, for which he apologized. Having worked as a contract administrator in public housing in construction; I was not at all put off by the delay; particularly since it gave me more time to empty the garage. As it was, I barely got it cleared hours before the crew arrived. So the timing worked out well for the contractor and me.
Description of Work: The brick facade (veneer) pulled away (separated) from the front garage portion of house. Additionally there was extensive concrete cracking in both garage bays. The owner came out and determined that there was evidence of “street creep” (the house sits at top of a ‘t’ intersection), and that the foundation was being pushed northward by the street. Once work began it was further discovered that the foundation had been pushed off center front to rear of the building by as much as four to five inches. The repair was five helical anchors dug down into bedrock in front of the garage, rebuild the deteriorated garage footer, tear out and redo the garage concrete floor, extensive straightening and re-mortaring of concrete blocks in crawl space as it adjoined the garage. The brick veneer was so precarious the crew was extremely concerned that it might fall, causing further damage and quite likely injuring the crew. The crew used their experience and some good old fashioned American ingenuity to save the wall and re-attach (intact) it to the structure. Afterwards, it was not apparent that there had been a repair. In other words, there was no no undue separation between the structure and the brick veneer. I was mightily impressed with this owner and crew.

+ -1 moreThe gentlemen arrived on time and made sure of what was to be done. They were polite and professional. The work was begun by drilling the holes into the patio and sidewalk (there was no noise!). Then there was to be the slurry..but...the compressor failed. They tried for several minutes to get it to start and decided it was not happening. They apologized and left to repair the compressor. They came back a couple hours later and with beautiful smiles , set about completing their work. It was slow and accurate and the patio came up to its original place- almost 5 inches higher. The step was raised with the patio and is now where it belongs!! The patio was finished by filling in and finishing off the holes. There are no indentations or dimples to show where the holes were drilled! This happened on the step and front walk too! The finish was the sealing to the house. Last night it rained and for the first time the water drained away from the house! Thank you A-1.

I scheduled the leveling first and was told I would have to call back for a date on the driveway. Two weeks before the garage was to be leveled I realized I would not be able to get the cabinets removed in time and called to cancel the leveling and to move forward with the driveway. I was told they would get back to me and two subsequent calls later I still never heard back from the company. It scares me to think of the job they might have done .

A-1 did not perform the other type of work, but recommended another company for that part. I had to wait a couple of weeks to get the work completed. The work crew showed up earlier than expected.They did a good job of leveling the sidewalk and driveway sections, and cleaned up thoroughly when they were done. I used their Angie's List coupon to get $25 off the original price.
