JBS performed well. They renovated the kitchen and dining room completely. John and Bernie are very fine craftsmen and the results were reflective of their craftmanship. Demolition and clean-up went well and rebuild went according to plan. Our expectations were that they would complete the job within 4 weeks as discussed, but it took the better part of 7 weeks to complete. All of which was understandable. They stayed on budget and when there was a change, it was always discussed thoroughly and understood. The only wish we had was that they should have communicated better on the various stages of the project. Sometimes they did not show up for a couple of days and did not indicate the reason until we had to be vocally persistant. Communication throughout the project is rated on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being excellent, and we would rate them 4. We are very pleased with the renovations. It is one year later and we still are very excited about how well the craftmamship. We highly recommend them to others.

We think they are great. In the past they have done a complete remodel job of our master bedroom suite and bathroom. The quality of their work was excellent and they were easy to talk to and communicate with. There were some significant challenges in the master bedroom suite remodeling involving new walls to put in and floors to level. The solution was not obvious so one of the things I appreciated a lot was that when they came to a problem and needed to think about it they were real straightforward about it. They said they were going home for the day to work on it at home and figure it out because they didn't exactly know what to do rather than say they had the answer right away and plow right ahead. The bottom line is that I have a lot of faith in what they come up with because they usually gave it some good thought and then actually carried it out. The quality of work was good. They charged a fair price and I think their price was reasonable. I don't feel like we were overcharged at all for the effort they put in and the quality they did. Everybody that has seen their work has been impressed. I think they are a very good value for the money.

They are very nice to work - professional and responsive. The work was done timely and the end result was wonderful. They have great attention to detail. They even lent us materials and gave us "tips" to assist us in completing our own staining and painting (we wanted to do that part oursleves).
Description of Work: We had our basement finished including drywall, drop ceiling, full bathroom, electrical. We divided it into a main room, bar area, finished and unfinished storage area and bathroom.

They were nice guys and they think the problem through with you. We would hire them again.
Description of Work: They came in and repaired an external door for us. They had been the subcontractor when we had an external front porch built previously.
JBS was impressive start to finish. The brothers and two other companies quickly responded to my initial request for an estimate. Three other firms -- all highly recommended by Angie -- didn't even respond. And of the three companies that visited, only two responded with an estimate, and one of them basically said he wouldn't mind if we turned him down because he was so busy. That left us with JBS ... and that was our good fortune. John and Bernie were great to work with. Very professional, efficient, and cognizant of our concerns. Their work was excellent, and if there was a rare issue, they responded, no questions asked. They added about $300 to the original estimate (excluding the aforementioned permit fees), but there was good cause: We had moisture concerns coming into the project, and half that money was dedicated to being safe rather than sorry in regard to moisture control. The other half was for an extra cable receptacle and ceiling light. We highly recommend John and Bernie.
Description of Work: Brothers John and Bernie, from scratch, finished one half of the basement in our 65-year-old Berea home. Nuances of the approx. 350-square-foot project included: a low-hanging ceiling that was finished with drywall on one half and a suspended ceiling on the other half (because of lower-hanging vents); three glass block windows (subcontracted); 10 stair risers; a steel post that was covered with 1" x 6" poplar; two doors, including one that separated the finished room from a ground-level sump pump; several soffits because of ducts; and various electrical work that was performed by a subcontractor. The project didn't include painting (our prerogative, at a savings of $800) and carpeting. (The painting wasn't difficult; the carpet, from a home improvement store, was far more expensive than I would have guessed.) Building permits were not included in the proposal, although I included those costs (about $200) in the $11,800 figure above.

From the start to the end, JBS was very professional and dedicated to our project. I appreciated the fact that they do not spread their services across multiple jobs which lends itself to long lead times for completion. Very courteous and easy to work with. I also thought they were fair when pricing out our requested designs. I would certainly use their services again.
Description of Work: JBS finished our basement. They finished our bathroom, added an office, a storage room, as well as, a very comfortable living area for our family.
