Do not let them install the geo thermal system. It has been a year since the house was built and the we still do not believe it is installed correctly. They have been out a few times to "tune up" the geo - for example in December when we had a $248 electric bill. They installed a horizontal system after their failed attempt to install a vertical system, as promised. We have not been getting the expected energy savings they projected when they sold us the geo thermal system. They also installed a 40 gallon hot water tank for a 3200 SF 4 bedroom 2 and a half bath house. This is not efficient and is not enough hot water for 3 people to take a shower in the morning. Do not let them install tile. The tiles are not level on the floor or backsplash. They weren't lined up correctly. Just a poor quality job. There was paint specs all over the wood floors. They install the septic tank right out the great room windows. After several conversations, they did move it so it was in a less obvious area. As part of the closing process, the only thing Dave would allow as an outstanding item was the sewer system to be completed and inspected. There were other items - not major - but we would have liked for them to be on the closing list as outstanding. It's not a surprise that all items were not completed. The final occupancy permit was not issued until February - 10 months after moving in . We did not receive the one year walk through as promised either. The major discontent is related to the geo theremal system. Our utlity costs are way more expensive then they should be and we have been unable to reach a satisfactory resolution with Dave Gill, the owner. Given the opportunity, we would not install the geo thermal system and would not recommend you let the Gill install it either.
Description of Work: We were looking for a house and found a spec house Gill Design Group was building in Valley City. We liked the area and the design of the house. We signed a contract to buy the house and were able to pick out floors, cabinets, paints, counter tops. Working with Valorie to pick things out was fine - but at one point she stopped all communication which we thought we extremely unprofessional. They were about a month late in completing the house. They try to do a lot of the work themselves. Overall we like the house - but there are some major don'ts with the Gills.
