Description of Work: Removed old roofing. Replaced many areas of bad sheeting, removed old roof vents, extended 3 exhaust fan vents to the outside. New ridge vents over all ridges. New saddle behind chimney. Hand nailed all new roofing! Did an excellent job cleaning up the entire site ...even swept the area with a magnet!

+ 0 moreIt all went great. They did little extras at no cost like painting facia boards that had never been painted when the house was built in 1972 before installing gutters. They worked steady until work was completed.
Description of Work: Removed two layers of old roofing, replaced several areas of bad sheeting, removed old roof vents, extended three exhaust vents to outside that were exhausting into attic, installed new roofing, installed new gutters and downspouts.

+ 1 moreThe job was completed on time and at the quoted price. The workers were careful with debris and cleaned up at the end of each day. The roof looks good and we've had no problems with the skylights or anything else. I highly recommend Benedict Roofing.
Description of Work: Removed our roof and four skylights and put on a new roof using Duration dimensional shingles. Also removed and replaced siding around the chimney and on a dormer in order to add a moisture barrier. Another roofer had given us an estimate with the same shingles and that quote was $3000 higher. The other roofer also urged us to totally replace the skylights but Chris Benedict was confident that they could be reinstalled without problem.

+ -1 moreFor the above reasons, I highly recommend Bob Benedict's roofing company. His team met and often exceeded our normally high expectations/hopes. They even painted the stacks and did a few other items that I would never have thought of such as painting the new soffit vents the same color as the house. Great job!
Description of Work: We had a complete tear-off and replacement of the existing roof on a spacious ranch. Bob Benedict’s company was recommended by a work associate of mine who had been very pleased. After getting 3 other estimates, we found Bob’s estimate to be one of the lowest and his additional verbal explanations to be the best. He also told us about a problem we had with the wood box around the chimney. When we didn’t exactly understand, Bob immediately went up on the roof and took pictures to show us and offered to rebuild the wood box if we wanted. (Another roofer had told us that we had a hole in the box but that he would just put a piece of wood over what he said was just a little hole. Bob’s pictures told the “whole” story. Thanks for going the extra mile Bob! The entire roofing job took a little over 2 days to complete and was done by Bob and his employees...some of whom have been with him for several years. They always arrived on time, were courteous, careful, and were hard-workers…putting in more than 8 hours some days. While we have engaged a number and a variety of contractors over the years, it was a pleasure to see such a great work ethic and outstanding service delivery provided by Bob and his employees. They even cleaned up at the end of each day. It was a pleasure having them work for us. The roof looks great and was christened with its first storm of the season last week.

One of the reasons that I picked them is because they weren't sneaky sounding. They were fair with their pricing. I'll probably be using them again soon.

The person showed up several days earlier (didn't call in advance) when I was not home and left me a quote for just the roof. I had told them I wanted a quote for the roof, gutters and fascia. I called them back and they said they would get get back to me with a quote for the fascia and gutters. The never called back. As a result I went with another company. I initially had wanted a quote from this company due to good reviews on Angies List and also from my neighbor who had his roof done the previous year.

+ -1 moreI couldn't be more pleased with their services. Recently I needed a new boot for the exhaust fan pipe. They came out, I didn't need to be here or anything and they just took care of it. WAYCOOL service. Anyway back to the roofing job. They started in the morning. I come home from work and they have the roof torn off, and it looked like almost half the plywood panels were replaced. I thought, "Oh crap here comes another bill". I told Chris, that I know some of these jobs grow once the skin is removed. What is the extra cost for all that plywood. He said he had included it in the price already don't worry about it. So next day I come home and they're almost done. They had cleaned up ALL of the roofing nails, materials that were ripped off an all. My kids were small at that time and I was worried that a stray nail would be in the grass. Nope, they must've been careful. I've never found anything to this day as far as roofing materials in the grass or bushes. I am glad I can call on them for my roofing needs. They're just there for me. I saw that someone said they do gutter replacements. I will use them for that too. I won't go out for bids. My house is about 60 feet (split level) wide by about 30 feet deep. Slope of roof is not steep. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I'm sorry, the date might be wrong, it was so long ago. They did a full tear off of the roof. They had to also replace a large number of plywood too. Chris knew this would be needed because the previous owner had him as his roofer, and the roof was on its third shingle layer. Also put in the frost barrier. Put in a ridge vent.

+ 0 moreChris Benedict came out and looked at my house, went up on the roof and evaluated the condition of the existing shingles and penetrations. They performed a complete tear-off as well as replaced any sheathing that was damaged. I asked them to replace my existing vent cap; not only did they do a great job, but Chris moved it from the front of the house to the back to make it look better aesthetically. They were done in two days and left the landscaping and area around my house just like they found it. No shingles or even a nail. The roof and gutters work fantastic; no leaks from Sandy.
Description of Work: Benedict Roofing performed a complete tear-off roof and replaced my gutters. They also replaced my bathroom fan vent cap.

+ -1 moremr. bob benedict completed our roof installation exactly one week before the arrival of hurricane sandy in our area. while we did have a power outage; we had no problems with our new roof. no shingles were lifted or lost. no leaks despite heavy winds. our leaf relief gutter covers performed beautifully (recommended by bob). Bob and his crew were very pleasant and professional--easy to work with. we could not be more satisfied with our new roof. after job clean up was exceptional. hand-nailing of shingles stood up to the storm. anyone needing roof work would do well to call mr. benedict. i highly recommend his company.
Description of Work: removal of old shingles and disposal of shingles. replaced bad sections of wood sheathing with new. installed new gaf timberline roofing shingles. installed ice shield where needed. removed old roof vents--installed ridge vents. installed new soffit vents in the overhangs where there were none previously..installed new chimney flashing and cement caps (two chimneys). all shingles were hand-nailed (no nail guns used on new shingles). installed new leaf relief gutter covers and modified a downspout to redirect rainwater runoff. clean-up of debris and old roofing nails from around our house.

+ -1 moreThis is the only company that I have given a negative review to. They do good work, as far as it goes, and never were impolite. They did, however, deliberately use shingles that were less durable and costly than the ones I paid for. I noticed the bag labels when they were partly done with the job, and they explained that they weren't about to lug the heavier ones up to the roof. No adjustment was made for the cost of materials and no apology was made for cheating me. I had hoped that the new roof would be the last one I would need. A lot of folks move frequently, but I ordered the heavier shingles because I planned to live here into my retirement. Soon I will have to replace the roof again. Bottom line: Courteous workers and very good work ethic, but check your materials before they put the first shingle on your roof!

Description of Work: This was my first experience with installing a new roof and quite frankly I was concerned that I would pick the wrong installer. One of my former business customers recommended Benedict Roofing and they were wonderful. I put a lot of credence on my first impression. Mr. Benedict came out for the estimate on the date and time agreed upon. He went up on my roof and inspected everything. He is the installer and as such is very qualified. He answered all my questions, even though they may have been routine for him, given his experience. He explained everything in detail. They did a complete tear-off of the old roof, installed ice guard, removed box vents and installed ridge vents. He even painted the stack pipes to match the roof! They did an excellent job! I would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of a new roof. Several of my neighbors commented on how good my new roof looks. Mr. Benedict even blew out all my gutters and installed new screens without me even asking. What a great company. They cleaned everything up too.

+ -1 moreThe entire job took the crew of 3 and sometimes 4 men 2.5 days. As the work progressed Bob found that a larger area of tear-off would give a better result but he did not charge for the extra work. Ventilation in the attics was improved by construction of ridge vents, as expected. The men took great care to protect our deck and plantings with tarps and they left no debris behind. At my request they set aside the materials from the tear-off that I could recycle. Bob is a third-generation roofer, an old-fashioned careful craftsman who reliably does excellent work at a very fair price. They were unfailingly pleasant to have around. My only reluctance in giving this company such a rave review is that I would hate to have them treated badly by any unpleasant clients who might give them a hard time.
Description of Work: We needed a new roof (including a partial tear-off) for our house built in 1990. Several friends and neighbors had used this company and their reports were all highly favorable. We called the company and Bob Benedict came out to look at the job and advise what was needed. He left a color brochure for the dimensional 30-year shingle type he uses and told us what supplier to visit to view the actual samples before making our final color choice. We were given the addresses of several local jobs where he had used the three shades that were our final candidates and we drove by them to get a better idea of the finished product. We made our decision and called the company to let them know what we wanted. Bob visited that evening and gave us a detailed written estimate of the services required and the probable cost of the job. Ten days later two pallets of shingles and the other materials were delivered and the next day work commenced. The cost was identical to the original estimate.

He could not quite tell what the problem was and asked us to call him when had a problem again. A year ago, the shingles came off the barn and we had him repair it. He was prompt, punctual and honored the estimate that was given. He also clean up after himself.
