Description of Work: They completely blew off appt number 1. No call - nothing. Then phoned 4 days later asking if I had an appt scheduled. I said I did but no one came. He rescheduled and came the next week. I never did get an estimate phone call or contact if any type. How do these companies manage to stay in business? They have time to drive around to job sites (when they remember their appointments) and just never produce an estimate or call to say they weren't interested? Or do they judge my budget by the neighborhood and dismiss a possible job. I guess the dream in dream decks is accurate as they sure seem to be asleep.

I'm not quite sure why the review even is here...??? Yes we did forget to call the first time, but made it up right away. An estimate was sent to this HMO and we have never heard anything back. To be honest, if we did anything wrong it was not following up after the estimate. It is a two way street. No contact from this homeowner was made till this undeserving review. The reason for that is the HMO seemed uninterested with us being there. He showed us what he wanted and left right away. The estimate provided was emailed and based off a fast review with the HMO. It does cost money to run these appts and had we known this appt the HMO was going to give no time to discuss we probably wouldn't have ran it.

Description of Work: Dream Decks is the best company I have ever dealt with. They are very professional, genuinely honest, and most importantly, the quality of their work is excellent. Everyone in the crew takes pride in their work and they do things the right way. My deck and sunroom turned out better than I envisioned and my expectations and standards are VERY high. I will definitely use them for my future projects.

Andy and Luke were great to work with. We met with Andy and using our initial thoughts he developed a design that was both interesting and unique - basically a deck shaped like a baseball diamond, that nooked nicely in a corner of our yard. Andy advocated using synthetic decking and shared with us the many reasons why it can be better than traditional wood, especially cedar, which we wanted. He was professional and worked to educate us but when we told him that after careful consideration we decided to go with the cedar, he worked hard to ensure his design worked with out material choice. The construction process was equally impressive. Four carpenters including Luke came very close to completing our project in two days. (Some bad material was all that stood in the way....!) They all worked exceptionally hard, including staying until after 7pm the night before a long July 4th weekend. From start to finish they were great to work with. Regarding price, they were not the least expensive, but they are a great value.

We our sorry that we were unable to reschedule a time to meet with you, which is the result of the price not provided. As a small business we try and help everyone we speak to and provide the proper plans and price. This claim is the result of a scheduling conflict which was unsuccessful in meeting again. Once again, it was not our intensions to not meet with you. (Please read/see all of are other reviews on Angie's list that show great quality and service.)

After obtaining estimates from the 5 deck builders we contacted from a local home improvement expo we chose Dream Decks. Their use of 3-D imaging was extremely helpful in our final design. They presented the Pros and Cons of the various materials available and did not push one over another. The project was started and completed in the time frame agreed upon. The installers were very professional during the deck construction. They were very respectful of our property and left the job site clean each day of construction. I observed the work each day and noted that each employee took the time to get each construction point done correctly. I was always consulted before any minor changes were considered. As construction progressed they were open to minor modifications. There were no "surprise" charges upon completion. There was always great communication between the design and installation teams. A truly pleasant construction process.

Andy called to make arrangements to remove old decking and make plans for new installation...they announced themselves, told me how long they would be here, and when they were returning. I could not be here all of the time that they worked, but I felt very safe in knowing they would do the work and I had no fear of leaving the premises. They removed the old decking material, in a very neat and orderly fashion, and hauled it away. Luke was foreman, or director of my installation...he oversaw the job, worked along with the crew which were neat and orderly in their work and demeanor. They cleaned up the area when they were finished, even to rinsing the deck. Additional structural work was needed, and this was discussed before it was started, agreed upon, and accomplished with a fair additional cost. The actual cost of the labor and material was paid by the manufacturer of the material. I have already made recommendations to friends who might need their services. I am more than pleased...this was certainly a good experience. Jean M Dunbar
Description of Work: Replaced an existing deck where the material had failed. The manufacturer replaced the faulty material which had been installed by another contractor. Dream Decks was chosen by the manufacturer to replace the warranted material, and I concur heartily. They did a fine job.

Luke and his crew showed up a day early to removed the existing steps and fencing in order to proceed with installation on the scheduled start date. All work went smoothly. The crew showed up timely each day and worked diligently under Luke's leadership. The work area was cleaned up before leaving each day. There was some minor damage to the turf which was repaired. At the conclusion of the job Luke asked that we look over the completed job and let him know of any questions or problems as he wanted to ensure we were satisfied with the finished project. The enire staff were pleasant to deal with. There were no issues that went unresolved.
Description of Work: In preparation for installing our 20' x 18' trex deck and lighting they removed an existing set of stairs. They also removed the existing vinyl fencing and reused it after installing the deck to close in our yard. The left over fencing was installed along our parking area. The design work provided by Andy is what sold us on using this firm along with the price which was slightly better than other quotes we secured.

I contacted Dream Decks about refurbishing my deck this summer, and Andy came out to discuss and define the scope. I was very impressed with his overall knowledge of all the products available, as well as the pros and cons, of each, in terms of cost, durability, construction, and aesthetics. We came up with a plan that involved removal of existing deck boards, reframing about half of the deck (which included adding some additional deck space), adding and reconfiguring the handrail and stair, and installing new deck and fascia boards. I thought the price was on the high end, but having seen some of their work I decided to give them a try. I believe that I made the right choice. Before work begun, Andy contacted me about a new color that was now available for the deck fascia boards. He found out about these at a trade show, which showed me that he keeps up with new products. I ended up going with the new colors, and they look fantastic! The work began several weeks later and took about 3 days. I am a real stickler for detail and kept a close eye on how Luke and his crew approached it themselves. I have to say that I was extremely pleased with their workmanship. The little things - like making accurate cuts to keep visible lines perfectly straight, paying attention to the arrangement of the boards so that a miter cut is made on the next board rather than cutting a "V" shape in the end of one of them (hard to explain this, but very visible), knowing where to put a ripped board so that it is not noticeable, and placing it perfectly in line with handrail posts so that even if you do notice, it looks like it was supposed to be cut that way ? were all addressed. After the work was all complete, it looked fabulous... a very professional job! Also, I found out quickly that the product that they offered was by far a more superior product than the much cheaper material that it was replacing. I know that it was much more expensive, but the old adage "You get what you pay for" applied here in a big way. I think that all contractors wind up having scheduling issues, and Dream Decks are not immune to those issues. But all in all I think they did a very good job getting the job done in a timely manner. I am very happy with the finished product, and I feel confident that it will look good for years to come. I would also like to add that it is nice to see some young guys that are knowledgable, hard-working, and craftsmen. Thank you, Dream Decks!

Description of Work: constructed a 600 sq ft deck 14 feet off the ground with a winding staircase and a unique deck design. We used their cad program to design the deck. Used a combination of treated wood and plastic railings with lights on the steps and the railing. Excellent workmanship and did a terrific job of cleaning up. Worked in the rain and mud to get the job done on time.

Met with Luke and Andy to discuss design and price quote. Luke and I went over construction details, ie material used, color, shape, beam size, joist spacing, fastener method, time frame, etc. They brought deck material samples and colors and pictures of previous jobs. They even gave me the address of a job they had just completed within the development and we visited the site. While Luke and I spoke, Andy worked on the design on his laptop creating a 3D rendering of the finished deck showing whatever color I wanted to see. They had first measured the back of the house so that the drawing would fit exactly with our house. That gave a nice visual of different shapes, sizes and colors of the deck with our specific house. They were knowledgeable, courteous and invited questions. We had begun our conversations at the Cleveland Home and Garden Show a couple of months earlier and I had seen sample decks of composite and pvc material. They also build wood decks. Construction began in May and went quickly with no unforseen problems and completed within their estimated timeframe. During this time, I asked for a change in pergola mounting and a slightly larger bumpout for a new grille. Each time they readily discussed the changes and incorporated them into the plan. Luke was on the job each day and has two other employees working with him. All are friendly and will answer questions along the way. I was impressed with the quality of the materials and the methods used and the craftsmanship displayed by the builders. Overall their company performed in a very professional manner and we were very happy with the results. They took the plans and turned them into the deck of our dreams.

The whole experience went well, Dream Deck team was professionnal and have a good customer service approach and showed that they were committed to make our dream deck come true. They are a young and dynamic team and deserves kudos for a job well done.
Description of Work: We had planned to have a deck built this year. I found Dream Deck online on a sunday, filled out some infos and was contacted by Luke that same day and scheduled an appointment. Met with owners on march 4th, they took the time with us, discussed different options, they also designed a computerized picture of what the deck would be like ( which i thought was great since i'm more visual and it helped us have a better idea of what we were asking for). And by march 28th we had our deck! Was not sure, at first ,of the wood and vinyl combination for a deck, but it looks great. The vinyl siderails and vinyl semi-privacy wall adds richness in my opinion to the overall look of the deck. My husband and i, are very pleased with the work the owners and their team did, it exceeded our expectations and they offered quality work and all done in a timely manner.

Dream Decks put a deck wonderful deck around our pool. My husband and I were considering putting a deck on in summer of 2012 around our new pool, when a neighbor of ours was having a deck put on his home we noticed how nice it looked and my husband went down there to inquire about the pricing or possibly giving us an estimate. Well, that day they came up and measured and within a couple days they came by with a computer sketch. We loved it but we weren't really in the market to buy this close to the holidays. They gave us a quote and my husband and I were both surprise at the price they told us that business was slow and it would pick up in the Spring and prices would go up. We decided to go ahead and do it for this great price. They started in a few weeks, per our asking them to give us time to get the money together. They started and in three day, regardless of rain or cold (and there was a lot of that), they were done. We can not say enough, we have a great deck with vinyl coated wood, Trex, and a beautiful vinyl railing with vinyl gate at a FANTASTIC PRICE!! We love it and we can not recommend them enough to all our friends. Great choice, very pleased!!!

They are a fantastic company. They did a superior job. I have a construction background, and from start to finish they were very polite, punctual, and used quality materials. They passed all the inspections with flying colors. They went above and beyond, and even had a 3D program to show us different options. They finished the project on time, and worked during in-climate weather. We interviewed 8 companies, they were in the middle as far as price but we are happy with our decision.

We hired Dream Decks to build our deck on March 21,2011 with the agreement that it would be completed by April, 24, 2011. To start they made us get our own approval through our home owners association which none of the other contractors were going to. They were to start the work on April 18th and do the finishing touches on April 23rd if necessary. They did not show on the first day, and the weather was beautiful. When I called them to ask about it they said the problem was with the city, they were being picky. When we signed the contract I made sure they knew the city would be difficult. I called the city the next day to find out they had been there for the first time that morning. Mind you we signed the contract and gave the deposit on March 21st, that gave them 4 weeks to obtain the permit and they waited until the date after they were supposed to start to start the process. They still promised it would be done on time and that they would be here all day Saturday to finish up. They came the rest of the week and never showed on Saturday to finish. One of the owners called in the afternoon to tell me he was stopping by for a check and when I asked him where they were his response was "you mean they aren't there?" The owner doesn't even know when the work is being done! We walked through the deck and found some issues that we wanted fixed and the other owner Luke was very rude to us and acted like we were being ridicules for wanting quality work. He promised it would be him doing the work in the beginning and I saw him here one time and he wasn't even working. When all was said and done our deck was not finished in time and the quality was far from professional. We tried several times to contact the company to discuss our issues and they told us they were proud of their work and stood behind it and that if we wanted a quality deck we should have built a composite deck! Now thats customer service right there. the issues with or deck are extensive and I will attach several pictures to show some of the problems. The worst things include the fact that our railings are not the same height off of the deck in any one place, and the boards are all twisted and not level. he holes cut for the railing posts are way to big and they tried to cover that fact up in one place by caulking it rather than fixing it. The deck boards are not flush with our house, there is a support board under neath that is not even reaching the edge of the decking and there fore not supporting it. The whole job is just awful, we have been told by three other professionals that we would pay the same amount over aain to fix everything because it would require a complete tear off and relaying of all the decking boards and rebuilding the railings. To top it off the contract states we have a warranty for seven years on the quality of craftmanship and they are still refusing to do anything for us.

Response from Dream Decks LBC Construction
In response to this client's project. DreamDecks/LBC Construction was contracted by the client of 7812 Creekside Pkwy. Macedonia OH 44056, in regards to building a new deck. After interviewing a bunch of competitors/deck builders they proceed with DreamDecks. The deck was to be constructed the week of Apr. 18th 2011. They requested that the deck be complete by Easter Sunday. DreamDecks sales rep informed the client that there was no promise to complete the deck by Easter due to weather, Acts of Nature and Business hours. DreamDecks did inform them we would do our best to complete the deck in the time requested. With no written statement implying the deck to be finished by Easter Sunday; the clients proceed with our services. The Deck was completed Tuesday, April 26 2011 and was paid in full. LBC/DreamDecks owner Lucas Brown personally went to collect final payment of the deck. At this point, the relationship with the client turned hostile.(They were upset we did not finish the deck by Easter) The client verbally assaulted Mr. Lucas Brown making him uneasy and stressed due to not working over the weekend and finishing their deck. (backed by emails and txt) With the client's belligerent outrage with Luke, they reviewed the deck to their standards and paid in full, Also the deck was passed by the City of Macedonia building dept. As Luke made his way to his vehicle, the client said "We are happy with the deck..." The pictures shown by the Greens were taken 4 months after the deck was complete and approved to their standards. The pictures are clear evidence on what can happen when using wood. ( DreamDecks is also aware of some issues that does not meet our standards and would be more than happy to fix some issues; However, the client has provided a hostile environment for any DreamDecks/LBC rep. DreamDecks built over 50 Decks in 2011 and this project is the only complaint we have had. It is sad that this costumer has ruin the project for themselves and DreamDecks. We are still trying to work this issue out with the client but their requests are unreasonable.
