We had a pretty good experience with them. They were very quick to come out to the house. My only complaint is that the insulation came through one of the can lights in the ceiling and that light no longer works. When I called them to tell them about it, they told me to just pull the insulation from the light bulb and that everything would be fine and nothing is fine. Now, I take some fault in not calling them back to have it fixed, but that has been our experience with them. When it comes to their professionalism and communication, they were fine. They returned my calls and they were on time when they came out to do the job.

It was good. It was great. We just ended up doing the job with ourselves.
Description of Work: They just came out and gave us an estimate. They gave us a quote for doing some insulation in the basement.

The work was completed in a professional manner. The sales person, Kimberly Quinn, was extremely knowledgeable and was in contact with me throughout the process. The installers arrived on time and went straight to work. The installers were very professional, carefull to not make a mess and cleaned up what little mess was unavoidable. Ms. Quinn made a follow up call the next day to make sure everything was satisfactory and checking to see if i was happy with the work. I was very satisfied with the work and impressed with how efficient the installers were. I assured Ms. Quinn that I would definitely be calling her the next time I was in need of insuation (which I have already done).
Description of Work: An additional layer of 6 inches of cellulose insulation was install over an existing layer of blown in insulation in an attic. The exisiting layer of blown in insulation, aproximately 4000 square feet, had to be evenly distributed and the exisiting baffles repaired before additional baffles could be installed and the new layer of insualtion could be properly blown up against the baffles.

The crew arrived one day late due to an office scheduling error. They proceeded with the drilling holes at the bottom and top of each cavity, with the exception of those behind the kitchen cabinets where one hole seemed to be enough. The electric power for the drilling and the blower was supplied by the the home owner. The crew checked to make sure no openings to the basement such as cold air returns would permit the insulation to escape the wall cavities. The 50-foot hose was sufficient so that the machine had to be moved only once outside the house. After some initial clogging problems the filling proceeded with no delays. The crew didn't stop for lunch and were finished in under six hours. They cleaned up spillage of cellulose outside when a hose came loose from the blower. They also vacuumed inside with an over-the-hill machine and were assisted in this by me with our Shop-Vac. Most of the dust comes from drilling into the drywall and covering furniture is recommended. I was impressed by the crew's skills. Having tried to do the job with inferior rental equipment, I appreciated their abilities to minimize back spray and clogging. Over 35 50-lb. bundles of insulation were used in the job. I supplied some fiberglass insulation to block off cold air returns. The crew left me the invoice which I paid by check in the mail. I requested and received a receipt. Although we have had no real cold temperatures so far, the rooms are warmer and quieter. (Last winter I measured a 5+ degree difference between inside and outside wall temperatures.) I estimate that the R-value for the exterior wall is now close to 19 and that air infiltration has been reduced or even stopped.
Description of Work: After confirming that our 1950's 1600 sq ft brick house had no insulation in the exterior walls, I got estimates from two companies which could handle the situation. I chose Valley because I believed their technique of drilling from the inside would be more successful than the other (drilling through the mortar joints and hoping to fill all the cavities. I also rejected foam because it is impossible to access wiring or plumbing once installed. The salesman for Valley thought that one could pull wire through the packed cellulose; however, the crew thought that would be very difficult). The insulation was pulverized cellulose blown in with special equipment. The homeowner is responsible for clearing obstacles to the exterior walls where possible. The two-man crew arrived in late October 2008 and proceeded to drill holes in every exterior wall cavity. They finished the job the same day. They completed the job by inserting foam plugs into all the holes. The homeowner then has to Spackle and paint to finish the job.

It took several calls to get the estimate scheduled (my initial calls were not returned). The estimator missed the first appointment and did not call, I called him a couple of hours later and he said that he got delayed and was going to call me. He finally did come to give an estimate, I was happy with it and I told him that I wanted them to do the work. They were supposed to call me the next day, it has now been a month and nobody has called. (They should have my number given the number of times I left it but if not they had my address.) Their price was reasonable and they were going to install baffles to keep the insulation in place, something another company would not do. However, they don't seem that interested in doing the job. I still need insulation but given the difficulties before the job is even started, I'm hesitant to use them now.
Description of Work: Got an estimate to have cellulose insulation blown in to my attic.

It went OK but not great. First the crew was more than 2 hours late because their truck broke down on the way to my home. Then during the installation of the insulation that was blown into the upstairs attic, the installer said he had to either release the hose or fall through the ceiling so he chose to release the hose that was blowing insulation into the attic. The result is that the hose fell out of the attic and insulation was blown all over the top floor of my home - 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The mess was particularly bad in 2 of the bedrooms and the master bath. The crew tried to clean up the mess and they did get most of it by using a combination of a shovel and a shop vac. There was residual mess left in every room on the top floor. I had to clean up the blinds in the windows, go over all the floors again, vacuum the bathrooms and the closets myself to get the mess cleaned up. This was particularly disturbing to me as I had just had the house professionally cleaned.
Description of Work: The employees from Valley installed insulation on the floor joists in the basement, blew insulation into 2 attics in the house, provided pieces of insulation that can be lifted off of the whole house fan to allow use of the fan in the summer.

Very professional, prompt and did a good job. Cleaned up after themselves. I was very happy with this company. I really liked that there were no hidden costs and everything was included in the estimate, including tax.
Description of Work: They put insulation into my home all over the place (garage ceiling, attic, living room and family room ceiling).

There was one issue: when the installers came, they omitted a certain part of the contracted work. They ended up deducting it from the bill, and they left some of the product at the site. I ended up doing some of it myself, but at least they made financial compensation.
Description of Work: They installed insulation for a new home.
