From soup to nuts, Mike did an outstanding job. He educated me on the various types of flooring and explained the differences in different grades of laminate. He ensured that I ordered sufficient quantity of flooring and all of the trim/transition pieces. He thoroughly inspected the subflooring and made necessary repairs to ensure that the flooring seated properly and did not squeak. He pulled all of the baseboards before installing the flooring. I was amazed that he was able to do this without messing up the wallboard. The installation was absolutely perfect, with no squeaking or clicking of any kind. He reinstalled the baseboards leaving the razor-thin gap required for the flooring to expand/contract. He touched up the baseboards after reinstallation. I was especially impressed with Mike's problem-solving abilities. Every job has its unexpected challenges, and Mike's vast experience enabled him to expertly solve all of these issues. While installing the floor, Mike noted other issues with my condo that he felt needed to be addressed. Some of them were easily accomplished by me. For the others, he recommended other highly qualified professionals to address them. Practically everyone who has been in my home since the installation has commented on how nice the floors are. I wouldn't think of hiring anyone else for home improvement or repair - this is how much confidence I have in Mike's abilities.

Overall, the process of restoring my two showers took about 6 visits from Mike, over a two week period. Some visits were shorter than others, depending on the work that needed to be done that day. He was excellent about scheduling the visits around my schedule, at my convenience, and always showing up exactly at the time that he had said he would be here. The grout and the caulking work were done so perfectly. The showers look brand new! Mike went above and beyond by also putting up two new light covers in the Master bath shower ceiling light fixtures for me, and cleaning out the floor drain and replacing the floor drain cover with a new one. The floor tiles in the Master bath shower look fantastic after being cleaned and re-grouted! In the ceiling of the upstairs bath, he discovered that the exhaust fan/light fixture, which was needed for ventilation, was clogged with dust. He went ahead and cleaned it out. I asked him to clean out the (dust-filled and clogged) exhaust fans in all 4 bathrooms, which was a lot of up-and-down stepladders, vacuuming, and carrying the fixtures down to the basement sink for cleaning, and he did all that for only $50 extra. Mike Pangallo seems to have a great deal of knowledge of all things related to home construction and maintenance, whether it's carpentry, or plumbing or anything! He has an upbeat, pleasant and professional demeanor. After finishing the restoration of my two showers, he gave me suggestions of products to use to keep the showers looking nice - one of which was very earth-friendly and made up of ingredients I always have on hand. I am so happy to have discovered Pangallo Construction through Angie's List!

From start to finish, this was one of the best experiences we have ever had with a contractor! He is extremely knowledgeable in virtually every aspect of home repair. He replaced the drip edge with hardi board which will preclude any future problems with this issue. The vinyl floor was laid on the diagonal, requiring numerous difficult cuts which were all made expertly. Our friends have commented on the floor's appearance and cannot tell that the floor is not slate! He explained to us why the bathroom floor tiles (honeycomb) had come loose and expertly matched the grout color - it looks fantastic! He took the portion of the staircase apart, quickly identified the problem, and fixed the problem CORRECTLY. Mr Pangallo obviously takes great pride in his work and is a great communicator, explaining how each repair should be made and why it was important. He is a keen problem-solver, and explained in detail every aspect of his work. He was PUNCTUAL (when was the last time you worked with a punctual contractor?) and extremely pleasant. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needed home repair or improvement. Although we could have gone with a slightly lower bid, I consider the fee for his work to be an OUTSTANDING VALUE and wouldn't think of calling anyone else for home repair services.
