Julius C Howe Asphalt & Sealing Company

We received a quote from Julius Howe For a 3" thick asphalt driveway to be installed with them also adding a compacted gravel base. After the paving was completed, there were a few areas where the asphalt appeared to be quite thin. Julius assured me it was fine and would not be an issue. This was paved in the beginning of Fall 2021 and by early to mid Summer 2022 (well within 1 year warranty period) the driveway began developing substantial cracks throughout the entire driveway. When I attempted to reach out to them for warranty repair work, never answered. Finally got an email back from Julius stating he would come take a look at things. Two days later I received an email saying the damage was not under warranty because it does not cover EXTREME weather conditions because the drought we had 2022. WE DiD NOT HAVE ANYTHING NEAR A DROUGHT. Also included was a nearly $4,000.00 estimate to repair the cracks and seal the driveway. We have already paid over $22,000 for the initial job.

They came out and dug up the driveway and laid the gravel and told us that in a week they would come back and finish the job. A few days after, it rained and the gravel ran down the driveway leaving a groove and a trail of rocks down the whole driveway . I called them about it and the response was " that happens and when they come to finish they will fix that" Three weeks went by and finally it was finished. I had called and my husband had called. They said they would get back to us and they never called back until the third week. Once they came, they did a good job.

As the president of our business condo association I was tasked with getting bids for pavement repair, crack filling,sealing, and striping our parking lot. The work performed was timely and professional and the end result was excellent. The entire board commented on how well the job turned out. Definitely would use again!

The Howe Company laid 2+ inches of new asphalt over a badly worn existing asphalt driveway. The work was all done on the same day. It looks great. Drainage is good. Everyone was very professional. I'll have the company reseal next year.

I had several areas on my asphalt driveway that needed repaired/patching after work was completed on two retaining walls. Steve and Julius were very pleasant and professional. I asked numerous questions and they were gracious and answered all of them. The work looks great. Everyone was pleasant. I have given ther name to a few friends looking to have work done next year.

The work was great. They were very efficient. The workers were very friendly. I would tell a friend they do good work and they aren't too expensive.

My driveway was in pretty bad shape- way beyond resealing. There were many cracks and some spots where the asphalt was worn down to the gravel underneath it. I have a long driveway and the estimate I received from Julius C. Howe was considerably lower than the other estimates I received. A large crew arrived at the time I was told and worked very efficiently, finishing the work in less than 3 hours. The foreman gave me a pamphlet and explained what to do to make sure the driveway wasn't damaged before it has time to cure. The driveway looks great and I will be using them next spring when it's time to apply sealcoating.

Mr Howe's company performed admirably . I would use them again in a heartbeat .

Howe fixed a leak we had in our basement wall. They estimated one day of work and that's exactly what it took. They arrived on time, they worked through the day and completed the project on time at the estimated cost. We are quite happy with the results.

When our first agreed upon date did not work out due to weather they contacted me immediately to reschedule. The team was professional when they arrived and the job completed without issue. Everything was as promised.

Julius came out personally to do the estimate. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and made recommendations and answered every question to my complete satisfaction. The job was not scheduled immediately because he had other jobs ahead of mine and blacktopping is extremely weather dependant. He finally called and told me he had me scheduled for Friday Nov. 29th. I was on vacation and was due to come home on the 28th. He called me on the 27th. and asked if he could do the job on the 28th. because it was supposed to rain on the next day, and I told him to go ahead. When I got home that afternoon the job had been completed. It was done to my complete satisfaction. I would hire him again in a second.

Went fine. Once the weather window opened they showed up quickly. Had large and good crew. All members knew their job and worked rapidly. They were careful with the property and neat. No damage to other areas of property. Good job with clean and neat edges. Finished at the street entrance smoothly.

I called and requested an estimate to pressure wash and seal concrete drive and walks on Aug. 7th 2013. On August 9th they showed up and left me the quote. I thought wow that was fast, and price was competitive. I called and was told to sign and fax the quote to them for approval and scheduling which I did on August 10th. Several days went by so I called to make sure they received my quote, they said they did and someone would contact me with a date to perform the service. About every 2 weeks I would call back to get some kind of estimate when they may come out, I wasn't in a real big hurry, but still wanted some kind of communication to make sure they still intended on doing the job or should I get someone else. Anyway, around the first week of November they finally called and said they would stop by that day to do the pressure washing. Once there, they did a god job but was extremely frustated with the lack of communication.

They did a great job. The quality of the service was fantastic. He came out, did a great bid and a great preparation. Our asphalt driveway was destroyed and they dug it out and redid it and did a great job.

This was my 1st time to use Angie's list and worth every penny. I needed the driveway replaced and had no idea where to start. I tried the BBB which was useless. Mr Howe's company did an exceptional job. His crew is very professional. Their clean up was excellent. Nothing was left in the yard and they even cleaned up the street. I've had other companies just leave trash strewn around the property. I highly recommend Mr Howe's company. Thanks Angie's list

Owner/estimator was very thorough, provided good counsel/advice on questions we had. Price was in line with another company we got an estimate from. We had more confidence in Mr. Howe, though, and have hired him. Job will start this month.

The staff was friendly and nice. Everything went efficiently. They showed up on time and did the work. Great job overall and I was very happy with the service.

Julius came to our house and gave us recommendations on the best way for us to have additional space on our driveway. He then gave us a proposed schedule for doing the job. He exceeded the schedule by completing each step ahead of time. You could tell he knew his job and wanted us to be completely satisfied. His crew was efficient and the job looked superb upon completion, although the crew before completion had indicated there was not enough of a gravel base at the top and bottom of the driveway for the asphalt to be laid. Following the completion of the job, his lack of response to our concerns and what turned out to be a less than perfect asphalt driveway were awful. Within the first year, several areas on the edge of our driveway were invaded by zoysia grass that produced cracks in the asphalt. Also, a small area of the driveway in front of the garage floor, developed a sink hole (about 8? x 4?). After a couple of calls, Mr Howe had someone come out and apply asphalt to patch the cracks and fill the hole. We suspect that the gravel base near the garage floor was insufficient. In the second year, another sink hole developed at the driveway/garage floor interface. I bought an asphalt patching product and filled the hole myself. This year, another hole appeared in the same location. After 4 calls to Mr. Howe over a 2-3 week period, without him even having the courtesy to return our calls, I once again had to patch the hole. It seems obvious that once this company has your money and the work is done, it is not interested in devoting additional time to repair a poorly done job or addressing any of your concerns. I do not respect any company that appears to be too busy to return a phone call. To date, we have had no response from him.

The job was completed in a very timely and professional way with no problems. He was not the lowest bidder but seemed the most conscientious.

Called two weeks ago for an estimate and was told that he would come out and measure and send us an estimate in the mail. Nothing came so I called and was told that she would check and call me back.. Nothing, so I called back today and was told that he could come tomorrow but still might not be able to do it because people are in line ahead of me and then the weather. I wonder where I would be in line 2 weeks ago.

They were timely, professional, and efficient.

Very professioinal. First the prep team showed up and cleaned, trimed and prepared the surface for resealing. Then 20 minutes later the sealing team showed up. Extremely professional. Newer looking trucks and equipement. Very experienced workers. Could not have asked for or recieved better service!! Very happy here in Eastgate.
