John couldn't have been nicer. I called Discount Solar after trying two other companies (both were great and responsive but don't work on solar hot water heaters) and John came out the next day. Since it was the afternoon when I initially called, he walked me through what to do in order to unplug the circulator pump and get the hot water heater to sustain through the night until he could look at it. I even called him after 7pm to give him the name of the brand from some of the parts so he could make sure he had the right parts on his truck. Since I am a new homeowner and my other half is in the military, I find myself as a single homeowner sometimes. When this happens, I try to learn as much as possible from the service call so that I can understand more about the working parts of our home. John was happy to explain everything to me from how the hot water heater works and what to do if certain situations happen. He was patient with my questions and happy to help me learn. Being the single homeowner in this case since my other half was away, I have to admit I felt comfortable having him doing work at my house. I will most definitely call John again and will recommend him to neighbors and friends. Great overall experience for something that can be dreadful to deal with.

John was very professional and courteous. He gave me a reasonable quote over the phone. He worked around the roofer's schedule and come out and removed two panels. The next day he came back and reinstalled the panels. He did a great job.

I actually got John's number from the roofing company rated #1 on Angie's List in my area. The roofers came out and recommended Discount Solar. John promptly responded to my phone message, scheduled an appointment for the next day, and showed up on time. He fixed the anchors for a system that he doesn't even sell (in fact, the company that manufactures/sells the equipment has gone out of business). I found a few areas that were missed during the next rain. He showed up the next day and fixed those. John was very pleasant to deal with and was extremely fair about the price too. I would highly recommend John and Discount Solar to anyone who has problems with their solar system (pun intended). I will certainly contact him whenever my current system needs repair or replacement.

It went extremely well. I had contacted John from Discount Solar previously to inquire about a water heater and was struck with his willingness to provide advise. Looking at the layout of my house, he actually recommended against getting a solar heater, as it would be quite expensive to setup in my place due to second story etc. That advice alone made me feel that John is extremely honest and cares about customers. Fast forward to a couple months later ... my pool solar heater had been very loud when the solar would turn itself to the OFF position, plus there were some leaks. When I called John he first gave me advise on what to try on my own. Again, I appreciated this. But this wasn't the problem, so I set up a service call. When John came out he first noticed that my system was set up wrong! This was quite unbelievable because it was wired wrong such that the solar controller would actually turn off the system when it said it was turned on and vice versa. So all summer long I had no solar heating going on when the sun was out. This alone was money well spent! Whoever was the last person to work on that unit or whoever set it up in the first place needs to go learn from John! John then proceed to check out my roof panels, which are quite high up on a 2nd story, but he went up there anyway, using 2 ladders. Very glad he did, as he fixed several leaks up there. The whole time, John was courteous, answered all my many questions, suggested things to keep in mind for later, and was just overall a very nice service person. The whole service took just over an hour and I feel that the price I paid was very fair. The temperature in the pool went up from about 84 at the time to 93 in a couple of days. It's like we just got a brand-new system installed. No more leaks, by the way. And when I had a couple follow up questions later, John was immediately accessible. He really believes in the power of solar heating and energy, and seems to like what he does. All that said, he's one of the best service people I've had at my house so far. I have already recommended John to someone else and would continue doing so in the future.

Called Tues AM. Agreed on Thurs after lunch since I had a doctors appointment that AM. Received a call at Noon that they would be here in 30 mins which they were. Had the timer with them,but some problem installing it due to it being a bit larger. Went out that evening and the timer was not running. I tried resetting it but the following morning it still was not running. Called John and told him what I had tried and he said they would be here in two hours or so, which they were. First thing John said was that he knew what he had done wrong, and proceeded to install a new ground wire. The timer is now working fine and there was no discussion of further charges.

The service provider came the morning after I called, within the time they said, (impressive these days). Two men arrived and were sensitive to our children and pets. They told us everything that was going on and were quick.

TRIP CHARGE WAS $45. CHECKING HOSES, PUMP AND SAFETY VALVE WAS $25. PRICES IN LINE WITH STANDARD CHARGES. CAME BACK ON SHORT NOTICE TO RESET SAFETY VALVE AND EXPLAIN ITS OPERATION AT NO CHARGE.

THE PANELS WERE INSTALLED IN A TIMELY MANNER AND THE WORKERS WERE EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL. WHILE IT IS AN EXPENSIVE ENDEAVOR, WE NOTICED A SERIOUS DECREASE IN OUR ELECTRIC BILL.
