The House Doctors

They are so easy to work with and they are so responsive. I asked Bob Vecchio, who is the owner and I asked his opinion on something where someone else had done the work and he was very responsive and he tried to help me and didn't charge for that. They try to work around my schedule, the customer's schedule and they are really are just incredibly prompt.

Electrician Rod Patterson from House Doctors was on site within 24 hours and quickly repaired the problem.

It's been a week and a half and I still don't have my estimate. Very frustrating to communicate with.

He said he would call to make an appointment to see the house but he never called.

The work was completed to my satisfaction.

This was an emergency. I had contacted another contractor who came in and gave me a price, and never showed for the time he was supposed to do the job, and called again for another week, never showed up, and I had moved everything out of my TV room, sofa, TV, everything. When House Doctors came in they got to the job in one day and finished it and I was very, very pleased. Thank you.

He showed up quickly and did an excellent job.

I probably would've graded them higher. Their responsiveness was initially good, but I had to contact them again. I'd like to try them again. I think overall they were very good.

The caulking and masonry was completed quickly. The pickets on the fence gate were deteriorated and the gate needed to be re-built to match the rest of the fence. This was not handled well. They tried to complete the job quickly, but they didn't pay any attention to detail. They built a gate that did not match the rest of the fence either in style or length of pickets, and told me later that they couldn't find the same pickets. I was able to find them quickly, using the yellow pages, and when I provided the pickets they did rebuild the gate. The gate was hung too high, and didn't swing open fully because they put the latch on wrong. They hadn't paid attention to how the hardware was originally installed. There was also a problem with the painting. It didn't hold, and I had to call them back twice more to re-paint. The workmen were very courteous and neat, but they seemed unable to envision the total project, or to make decisions that resulted in a professional piece of work.

Rob Patterson, the electrician, was on time and did an excellent job.

They filled all of the holes on my house. They did a beautiful job. They were very thorough. We did a walkaround, and they painted where they should and completed the job.

It is 9/13/06. They came out over six weeks ago and have not quoted yet. This is for work that should be about $1,000. They called twice saying a quote was on the way. I called and left a message three weeks ago and no one called back. I then called the owner two weeks ago and he had no record of the prior call but promised a quote. They probably do good work but I'll never have a chance to find out. It looks like they have taken on more potential business than they are able to quote.

He came out, the day after I called. Service was great.

I called him to set up an appointment. He said he would call. It has been over a week, and I have received nothing from him.

I needed a room built in a basement & bath remodel. I am selling this home & was looking for someone who could get the job done ASAP. A worker came by a week after my 1st call. He was very nice. I explained the urgency of this remodel & he said he could do it in the time frame. I was to receive a price quote in 3 days. 5 days later I called & spoke to Bob, & he said his son Mike would call that evening. The next day Bob called to give me a price quote. I told him I needed it in writing. I had to make sure everything was in the estimate before I hired them, so he said Michael would call. Mike left a message the next day, so I left a message 2 minutes later that I need a written estimate & a day when they could start. I never heard from him again, so I emailed Bob & explained. He emailed me back telling me Michael would call with a price quote, I already had a quote, so I explained again. Still no word. That took over 2 weeks & now I'm starting over. The whole process was ridiculous!

Both my handyman and plumber had already diagnosed my shower leakage problem. I requested an estimate for services to repair the leak and questioned up front whether there was a charge. I was told there was not. First two plumbers came in. They asked to open up the downstairs hall ceiling area of damage, and I again asked whether there was a charge. They said no and stated that they had to be sure that the leak was coming from the lead pan, which they confirmed. A second man from The House Doctors came two weeks later. He looked at the same shower and said he needed to make an appointment so that he could run the shower hose directly into the drain to confirm that the leak was not drainage related. He never called or came back again to run that hose. To top it all off, I never received an estimate from The House Doctors to do whatever work was necessary to replace the lead pan and shower tile.

They also covered my dryer exhaust vent. They did many other jobs. They were on time and very professional. They did a good job.

I am very pleased with the work done for me by The House Doctors. I found them on Angie's List three years ago when I moved into a house that had been in my family for 80 years, and was in poor condition. I have had Bob Vecchio and his crew do many jobs for me, large and small. Bob takes a personal interest in each job, and supervises closely. He has even suggested not doing some things that weren't practical. I feel that I can always rely on them responding reasonably promptly, and being very helpful, thorough, and professional.

It was very unpleasant and unsatisfactory. They left the job more times than they were here. When the job was completed in there opinion, they did not paint the walls behind the freezer and refrigerator. We have paint peeling from door jam and around the door. They have left white paint lines on our carpet. After the job was completed there was questions about the whether there was a discount or not a discount. I paid them and sent them a letter with my displeasure and have not heard anything back from them since.

The painters from House Doctors were friendly, efficient, punctual and unobtrusive. They completed the work on time and on budget. The owner walked me through the finished project to make sure that I was completely satisfied with the work, which I was. A very positive experience.

I ended up not needing work done by Bob. At first, I contacted him to perform a job at my house. He called back immediately. I've heard great things about the House Doctors.

Overall good, not great. First the great part - Michael was very polite, was very considerate of my desire not to inhale paint and finishing fumes while pregnant, and made sure I was happy with the style spindles picked out. The work itself was good, and note that this was a difficult, detailed job. The bad - I was originally told it would take 2 1/2 days to finish and it took 5, and they continuously grossly underestimated how much time the rest of the job would take. They ended up rushing at the end and I had to ask them to come back and smooth out a sticky finish on the banister, which they did without argument. Given the detail involved with this job, the additional time was more understandable, but I still would expect them to provide better time estimates.

They were very pleasant throughout. They asked us at the start would it be OK if they worked unusual (after work) hours. This was fine with us. We are very pleased with their work and intend to use The House Doctors again. Submitted - Lucien H. Case

The House Doctors representative was quick, efficient, and effective. Even though the gutters have never been cleaned before in fourteen years, they are now flowing without any obstructions. My only criticism is that I was led to believe that the job would be done about ten days before it actually was completed. There was no harm done, however, and no inconvenience to me as I did not have to be home in order for the project to be completed. House Doctors cleaned up after themselves.
