The House Doctors

Fine. Except that it took three weeks for the electrician to call. This was acceptable since this was not a high priority project. I will call The House Doctor's again the next time I need them.

Bob Vechhio does a lot of work around my house and came quickly to put flapping siding back in place. The workers were extremely polite as always.

After I got the notice from CEI of the problem to be corrected, I called Bob Vecchio of the House Doctors and left a message. He called me back within a couple of hours, determined the problem and work to be done, and (since it wasn't an emergency) said Rod (his electrician) would be out in two days. Despite the bad weather that day (including dangerously high winds), Rod came, climbed up on a ladder, and firmly reattached the cable to the house in several places. Both Bob and Rod were very pleasant, cooperative, easy to work with, and GOT THE JOB DONE in a timely manner.

They came immediately, they worked with us since we needed the work done quickly. They charged what they said they would.

What my mind said was an little job, in reality was a huge job, which involved a lot of water and mud in snow and rain. Along the way, changes were made and more holes were dug-some by hand, some by machine. There were jack hammers in my basement. Dye was poured through the drainage system and a few more leaks were found and fixed. The job was constantly monitored by the managers and the workers were neat and cheerful, even from the bottom of 8 foot pits. I was constantly kept informed, all my questions were answered patiently. When it was done, everything was returned to its original place, the floor was swept and the porch washed. I feel secure in my very dry basement. What I love about The House Doctors is that Bob Vecchio makes you feel like your house is the most important one he has. The people that work for him make you feel that way too.

I had some problems with the toilet after they left, with the water running, I called and they came right out and notice that the replacement was defective so he fixed it. I thought the price was very reasonable. I am already using the company again. I highly recommend them.

Electrician came to the house to get the data, with which to make an estimate. I accepted the estimate. They scheduled an installation time, but postponed it with a phone call. Scheduled a new date. Arrived and worked to the end of the day. Came back later to finish. That was no problem, because of the uncritical nature of the work. Uncritical, unless heavy snow would have fallen.

Replied immediately to my call and I had an estimate the next day. The work was completed that week and they took care to set aside some name plaques so that I could return them. The site was cleaned up, dirt hauled away to the spot I indicated, grass repaired and the mailboxes wiped down. Great job.

Call made to get a number of small items done...this was the first. Electrician arrived on time, and knew exactly what needed to be done. Took boots off at front door, installed light fixture in about 10 minutes then went to work on the sensor issue. Had to get a part, but immediately fixed the problem once that was done.

I had to call a few times to see when they'd come out, problems contacting each other for first 3 weeks was due to phone tag, but then for next month. I was basically waiting for them to come give me estimate and then do work. One mistake I made was not getting written, itemized estimate. First estimate was $995, but price was for only 1 column and not 2 (remainder of work as above). So essentially cost for doing second column base (removed several cubic inches of rotten wood and refill, prime, paint) was $228: much overpriced. Had I realized what they were really doing, I would have done it myself. Before they estimated work, Bob had mentioned work might involve jacking up porch roof and replacing entire columns. I did not verify this when Bob gave me estimated price, my fault. If I gotten written itemized estimate I would've realized I was overpaying. Cleaned up their work, including safely discarding broken glass. Quality of carpentry poor, my wife could've done better

JOB 1; He caulked all around the new fixture and it all work great. I seriously think these guys can fix anything. They will come out to the house at all hours of the day or night, so they are very accommodating. JOB 2; He used some sort of concrete/liquid wood that was commercial grade to fill in the spaces where the wood had worn away. He set the strike plate for the dead bolt and let it dry. The lock works great now.

Did return phone calls quickly. After we had decided on work and price, I had thought they would do the work within 1-2 weeks. A few weeks later, Bob called to re-confirm the work and the price. Then about 2 weeks later he sent Mike Vecchio and 2 other men to do the job. Took a long time (about 6 weeks) for them to actually come out and do the work. Eventually came out on a Saturday and did all the work as promised.

Very personable, great ideas, very flexible. Once we decide to have the work done, we will most likely go with these guys!

After having some carpentry repair done by my roofing company, I needed the wood painted before the gutters could be installed. With the lousy weather this fall, creating delays on the roof, I had a small window of opportunity to get this painting done. I called The House Doctors and spoke to Bob Vecchio on a Friday, and his crew was out first thing on Monday AM, and finished the job the same day! Bob was a absolute life-saver, and was so friendly and accommodating. His crew were very professional and friendly, and worked non-stop till the job was finished. They were also very neat, and cleaned up thoroughly. Bob called me that evening to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction, and to thank me for using his company. I would recommend The House Doctors to anyone, and will definitely call them again.

Not good! Agreed to do work (trim tree) & then canceled at last minute!

Frustrating - while I received a prompt initial return; no one ever came out for an estimate. I did call again and leave a message but no response. I understand if a business doesn't have time to add new jobs but they should say that up front not just disappear.

Very pleased. Prompt. Offered a solution when my original request was not possible. My kitchen light fan didn't work. I thought it was a short. I turned out the light/fan itself was defective.

This interaction was three weeks ago and we have yet to hear from them or receive an estimate.

Very well. It was completed faster than I anticipated and with no problems. It was a little expensive, but there were no hassles, so it was worth it.

After the lamp was installed there was something wrong with it which the guy from house doctors told my dad it was something he had done. Once my father said he had done nothing to it they guy refused to come back and fix the problem.

I had a problem with them;their responsiveness was horrible. Contacted them on the 23rd of August. They said they'd get back to me and that took until the 28th. They sent somebody out on the 31st. I asked if he wouldn't mind giving me an estimate. I waited until after Labor Day, left a message on the fifth and the sixth. They called back on the sixth and said they would give me the estimate on the phone. I told them I wanted it in writing. They called on the 11th and told me they'd give it to me over the phone again. They told me they were busy and I decided I was through waiting. The guy had an attitude.

We set up an appointment for Tuesday when I got back from running errands, and there was a voice mail on my answering machine saying they could not make it and they left another number, but the message took so long that it cut off the number. I have not heard from them since.

Very prompt response to request for quote. Excellent follow-up all the way up to the day the work was completed. Completed within a week after I told them there was no hurry. Cost was the same as quoted.

The work was done reasonably well and promptly. I had hoped to receive an estimate before they did the work, instead, they came to the house and did the job the day after I called. Since I am satisfied with the job, no problem.

We hired The House Doctors at the last minute. They were very helpful in getting work started at odd hours until they could get a full crew on. The work got done as quickly as possible with truly first rate results. The crew was very helpful and accommodating to our needs and kept it real clean. House Doctors also dealt well and fairly with additions to the job that we determined as we went along.
