The House Doctors

It took them a couple of weeks to get to the job, but we told them it wasn't urgent and actually had them do another indoor job in the meantime. When they did the job, it was done in one day with no hassle. I don't know if the repairs they did fixed the leak as the leak was quite small, really more of a moisture issue, but everything looks great.

Rod was professional and friendly. He came on time and completed the job in a timely manner. He did an excellent job. We are very happy with Rod and with Robert J. Vecchio who is the owner of The House Doctors. Bob always returned my calls quickly, was always very helpful and accommodating. He gave me advice on what kind of fixture would best suit our needs.

Jim was professional and friendly. He completed the job in one day, covered the floor with cloths to protect them and then cleaned up when he was finished. He did an excellent job. We are very happy with Jim and with Robert J. Vecchio who is the owner of The House Doctors. Bob always returned my calls quickly, was always very helpful and accommodating.

They were unable keep the original date due to an overlong previous job so my husband had to arrange to be home to let them in. They did come on the second agreed upon day on time and ready to work. Work was accomplished well and in cooperation with plumber replacing corroded gas line from water leak. Came back the next day to sand, but when wall was still wet arranged to come back the next (3rd day). Showed up on time and did final work in about an hour. When I returned from out of town and found spots on rug Mike (owner's son) came out that evening (Friday) at our convenince with cleaner ready to fix. Turned out to be stains from corroded gas line taken out at same time, but left some of the cleaner for later "just in case".

The quality of the work was great. Several of the brick on the bottom step were missing and the side of the steps looked like they be falling over. Now I can't even tell where the problem was. I did have to call back to confirm that the work was going to be done, but to be fair I was told that there were several other jobs being worked on before mine.

We were working against a deadline set by an insurance company and I had mistakenly thought we had more time than we actually did. Bob and his electrician, Rod, went above and beyond the call of duty to get the job done. Bob also spent extra time and effort to provide the insurance company with documents on very short notice so our policy would not be canceled! Even though it was my error with the date, he jumped right in to make sure everything would be taken care of. We couldn't be more happy or satisfied with the service! We will most certainly call Bob at The House Doctors in the future and highly recommend the company!! Thanks Bob!!!

The project went very well. Mike Vecchio asked us to oversee each task in the project.

The work went VERY well. Bob Veccio was quick to respond to our initial call, and quick to produce an estimate. From the time we authorized all this work, to the finish, was less than about 15 days, and this near the end of the season (authorized work at very end of Sept.)! The workman always showed up on the days predicted (very soon after authorization), and accomplished the planned work for that day. Bob was very straightforward in his estimates, letting me know what was firm, and where additional costs might arise. He also advised me on some questions I had on the painting. If you want someone to drive your home repairs to completion with the urgency you have to get the work done, this is your company. They are very courteous, responsive, and had good communications throughout. Their quality of work was just great; I didn't have to ask for any changes or adjustments to it. Just good, solid work, some of it requiring problem solving in carpentry. Work is ALL done. I'm very happy!

He is a very fair businessman. He trusted us to send him in a check after the work was collected. We used in the past and will use him the future.

He came on the day I called, removed the fan. He returned several days later and completed the job.

We had scheduled our painting a full 2 months in advance to have the painters arrive shortly after we closed on our home. Bob was very responsive to my concerns about the proper prep work needed on our job. The exterior had been neglected and the paint badly chipped. The crew came out before the job and walked it with me. Don was the point man and was wonderful to work with. I asked to have the house rolled and brushed. He understood my concerns about having the finished product last. Don was easy to talk with and concerned about getting the job done to my satisfaction. After the work was done, some of my old windows stuck and he came out, jumped on the ladder and worked with me to free them up. I know that Bob will stand behind the work of his company. He called before and after my job to insure my satisfaction. All the guys on the team were polite and conscientious. I would DEFINITELY work with them again. See my photos!

House Doctors returned my call very quickly. They were able to do the work at a time that was best for my schedule. The company was very professional in their work.

The same day I called, they came out and installed the awning. I thought I would have to make an appointment but they sent someone out immediately. They did a good job. I felt the price was reasonable.

I did not get warranty in writing. The technician did not give me a free estimate, did not quote the price, and did not provide with a paperwork. He did the job quick, though, took him about five minutes tops. Later I called the company owner and inquired about the warranty. His response was that if they did something wrong, they would come back and fix it, which was very vague as far as I am concerned. Overall, I am satisfied with what they did, and I will hire them again, only then I will insist on the free estimate and the warranty in writing.

House doctors came to give an estimate for painting the exterior of my home. They showed up one day unannounced but I happened to be home. He told me that he would be providing an estimate and asked a couple of questions. He said he would call with an estimate. He did not explain anything to me and was very quick in his review. When he called with the estimate he was very fast and short with his comments. He was equally short when I asked any questions. His approach did not make me think he was very interested in getting the work. In the past I asked for an estimate on gutter cleaning. Their estimate was three times the amount I got from other organizations.

Water was dripping out of overflow pipe on old hot water tank since I bought house 2 years ago. They replaced T+P (temperature, pressure) valve but water still dripped. They said I needed a new tank. We estimated old tank was 12 years old. After installing new tank, overflow pipe still dripped!!! They installed a heavy duty T+P valve, replacing the one that came with the new tank. Overflow pipe still dripped a little for about 4-6 weeks after install, and now finally appears to be under control!! The heater unit quit working on the bathroom ceiling unit. They tried to replace just the heater, but it would not fit right in the old unit. They ended up replacing the whole ceiling unit with a new one.

Our new insurance company required us to have loose bricks reset at the top of the old and unused kitchen chimney. We had also neglected repairs on our main chimney for a number of years. We joined Angie's List and found The House Doctors here. When we first called Bob about the work and mentioned that we were having a hard time finding someone to return our calls and actually come out for an estimate, he assured us that The House Doctors was different. Indeed, they are! Mike called and came out very quickly to look at the job. He called us promptly with an estimate and promised to complete the work by the insurance company's deadline. We are very happy with the service and the completed job and will use The House Doctors again when the need arises.

I am a Realtor and I contacted Bob to take care of some inspection issues and city violations on a house I have listed in Shaker Heights. The list included plumbing, electrical and roofing work. I emailed him the list and confirmed receipt. He went to the house but never called me back and never gave me an estimate. I called and emailed him several times asking for the estimate. The last time I called him he said that his son would call me back. He never did.

They were very good at returning my calls and were able to come out within a week of when I originally called them. The project cost what they had estimated, but based on the number of hours that their workers were on-site to complete the job, it seemed like it worked out to an expensive hourly rate. Also they had to come back to do baseboard work inside a closet that was missed the first time out; I was sort of surprised to get an additional bill for this work.

After several cancellations from both electrical person as well as general carpentry/repair screens/fix wooden ramp individuals showed. Satisfied with electrical work as well as screen repair, but will not use again due to difficulty with getting them to complete other work or fix work done. Owner clearly does not like to do business with women.

After The House Doctors screened in part of our deck, we knew we wanted them to update the remaining outdoor portion. The old one was ripped out and taken away. We opted for new composite decking which looks fabulous (and will stay that way)! The work was done quickly over a few days with neat cleanup. Rotting due to termites was discovered which necessitated some extra work and expense, but we were glad to be made aware of the problem. Now, instead of getting splinters, we are getting compliments!

We liked the plumber (Robert). He did high quality, thorough work and went above and beyond on a couple tasks. Because of this, a one-day job turned into a couple hours here and a couple hours there spread over 3 days as he had to go back out to get additional parts and materials. He took care of things we considered highest priority first. Getting the company to start the job was a difficult task (I called many times over several weeks begging to be made a priority because of water coming into our basement). The owner, Bob Vecchio, is a little gruff on the phone, but I'm glad I didn't let that scare me away.

We noticed that a knob was missing and after contacting them they were here first thing in the morning with a replacement.

I thought they did a very good job. They were on time. I would use them again.

Great! Responded promptly to my first call for estimate, prompt estimate (their's was lowest), kept in contact, showed on promised dates and once work started it was continued until finished (2 days, after one day earlier they pressure washed). They cleaned up well and were kind to my flower beds for the most part. Willingly responded and returned for a few touch up places. Overall, job looks great.
