The House Doctors

It went pretty well over all. I thought it was a little bit sloppy, and I wasn't that impressed. But the job is done and that's that. I feel like I paid a little too much.

Called The House Doctor and got an immediate response and talked with the owner who understood exactly what I was talking about. The House Doctor sent the correct craftsman to address and resolve the problem, the first time.

I called Bob at the House Doctors as soon as we discovered the leaks. He had two guys out to look later that afternoon despite the fact that they were still very busy from a storm that had wreaked havoc a few weeks earlier. That was amazing. What else was amazing is that these two guys actually figured out what was wrong with my leaky window. Now, this area of the house has been leaking since before we bought it. Some earlier renovations left the window shifted. However, no one, and we've had plumbers, radiator guys, handymen, painters who were caulking, etc., etc. look at this thing ad been able to figure out exactly what was going on. Now, I don't know if these two guys had different expertise - seemed like one was a roofer and one a carpenter, maybe, but they both did both, but they figured the darn thing out. And then they went upstairs and solved where the rain was getting in the attic, which other people had missed previously. And then, they came back the NEXT day because Bob didn't want the house falling apart and fixed the whole darn thing. They had four guys and worked the whole day. And these guys were super polite and considerate; they worked past 6, my husband came home and said he had never met such incredibly polite contractors and they left things absolutely spotless. Not even any junk in my garbage cans they took it all with them. I feel like a walking ad for them but it was really that easy.

House Doctors are wonderful. They are professional and punctual. They come when they say they will and worked with us to identify the problem. We need a plumber, electrician, painter etc. and they coordinate all of the repairs. Everyone who worked for them was equally professional. They clean up as best they could and we were very happy with the quality of their work.

They used a laser for precision when they hung the items.

They did a good job. They spent 2 days on the job. They communicated well and worked within my requirments and I'd hire them again.

The electrician was able to come to my house in the evening, which was great because I did not have to take a day off of work. He quickly diagnosed the problem and was done in about 20 minutes. I would highly recommend this vendor and would definitely use them again.

I contacted Bob via email to which he responded. I had a number of city violations for my rental property that needed to be address ranging from roof repair to electrical work. Bob respond quickly to my email but was very rude, abrasive and lacked general customer service skills. He gave me a verbal quote on the phone and when I asked him to put it in writing so I could have a written estimate he was taken aback by that request. He said that he usually does not do that. I then replied that getting a written estimate is "not an unreasonable request for a contractor to do." He then sent me an email, stating that he would do the work. His manner was high pressure and wanted me to make a decision same day. I explained to him my current situation with working with my city on my violations. After letting him know that I would only need his services for certain items not the whole work order he gave me a price that I felt was outrageously high considering that the major items IE; roof and driveway repair would be handled by specific contractors, respectively. After I told him that his price was too high he said, "oh well" and hung up the phone on me. Extremely rude, brash and unprofessional.

They were prompt and returned my phone calls, everything cost what they said it would cost and I thought the prices were very reasonable. It seems like they can do almost everything, and if they can't they will tell you.

They were very professional, called when they said they would call, and showed up when they said they would. They took the time to explain the problem and show us the damage. They repaired the problem in stages to identify the water leak and did not just replace everything. They worked quickly and efficiently and completely cleaned up when they were done. The House Doctors are great for any job.

Took much longer to get started than estimated. Took much longer to finish than estimated. Taking aside weather delays, which we understand, work days were typically short (about 4 hours on site), and on several good weather days they didn't work.

The experience was not too bad. There is still a problem that they have to come back and fix. They answer my calls, and help me with my needs.

They have very good customer service. They actually care about there customer. They really strive for good ratings. They do good quality work as well.

They did a very good work but they were very expensive. I didn't have time to shop around but they did do a very good job. I would recommend them if you want to pay them.

My schedule is a bit erratic, so there were some difficulties with the initial contact. They were very responsive and showed up exactly when they said they would. The crew was courteous and professional. The work they did looks great.

Excellent. The estimate was prompt and fair. The crew was a delight. The work was done quickly, efficiently, carefully, and there was nothing to clean up after they were finished. They also replaced wood where needed. I've had ongoing problems with water actually getting into my gutters becuase of the odd roof slant. We didn't know if the problem had been corrected at first because there was no rain for days. After it rained, they came right back to make adjustments. They had hoped to avoid using any additional barriers to direct the water from plunging down from the sides of the roof, but if necessary they will return and add this as well. They matched the color of the gutters to the paint amazingly well and were very careful of all details.

I received estimates from several companies. I was most impressed by The House Doctors because they really seemed to prioritize customer CARE, and they had great ratings on Angie's List. Not only did they do a wonderful job at a reasonable price, but they also made it clear that I, as a client, as important and that they were going to make sure that I was happy with every aspect of our professional relationship. They provided the best customer service of any company I've used for any repair EVER, and the end result is better than I imagined!

We called the House Doctor because one of our window wells leaked water when it rained and also to repair our front step. They charged $610 for "tuck pointing" work ($385 for the window well and $225 for the front step). The work they performed amounted to smeared quickrete around the window well and front step. The quality of the work was poor. The window well continued to leak (they did not fix the problem we wanted fixed) and I expect the front step repair will last for one or two years and I'll need to repair it again. (see photos) As soon as some water freezes in the obvious cracks, it will break the mortar. I called the House Doctor to complain. This was our second experience with the House Doctor. The first experience was somewhat better but also require a second visit to address problems with the work. Frankly, I wasn't interested in having them come out to re-do work again. I have come to the conclusion that the quality of the House Doctor's work is poor. For the window well, I ended up repairing the leak myself using a $5 tube of silicon. I'll hire the mason who did our chimney tuck pointing to re-do the work on the front step. The bottom line: We paid $385 for work on the window well that didn't fix the problem we asked them to fix. We paid $225 for lousy quality work on the front step. This is the quality of I would expect from an untrained jr. high student, not a professional contractor. (Look at the attached photos below.) The House Doctor did offer us a "free gutter cleaning" after we complained. But frankly, I don't want the House Doctor workers near our home again.

Bob Vecchio replied promptly to my call. He was very knowledgeable, and suggested reasonably priced options. Bob even sent someone the same day to do a small light bulb change out. The repairs were completed in two weeks. The House Doctors were prompt, courteous, and professional. I will definitely use them again in the future.

Good experience. I called Bob Vecchio @ The House Doctors on Monday they looked at my fence and gave me an estimate on Wednesday - did repair Thursday of that same week. I had called a few other people before calling the House Doctors and Bob Vecchio was the only one who came through with his service.

I called Bob at House Doctors on a Monday and told them I wanted an estimate whenever they had a chance to come out. Bob said they would be out in the next couple of days. On Wed. morning they called me and gave me an estimate which I accepted because it was a fair price and I knew they did good work reliably (had them do some other stuff last year.) Bob said they'd get to it early next week, which sounded fine to me - I knew everyone was really busy because of the storm. Then, when I got home that afternoon, I had a call from Bob to go ahead and look at my gutters - and they were all done! If only all home repair were like this...

Overall, I am dissatisfied with how The House Doctors handled the process. At first, they did return my call and seemed eager to provide a quote to paint the exterior of our house. However, once it was turned over to the person who came out to our house, things went downhill. We were not offered a meeting to be present at the time of estimate, so there was confusion about what work did and did not need to be done. Also, I played phone tag for almost 3 weeks (no joke!) just to get a verbal quote. At least 2 calls were made daily, trying to get a hold of someone so that I could get a quote. When I would get a hold of someone, he didn't have the estimate with him (this happened a few times). When I arranged an actual time and date at which I would call him so that he could have the estimate in hand, he didn't answer his phone, nor did he return the 2 voicemails I left him reminding him of our scheduled phone call. When I did finally get a hold of him, he quickly read the estimate over the phone. When I asked him to mail me a hard copy of the estimate so that we could consider, he said they only provided a copy if we agreed to hire them to do the work. Only then would he be willing to send me a copy of the estimate. I am very unhappy with how things were handled and I will not hire or even consider hiring this company for anything. Either they were too busy to take the time to be professional, or they did not care. Either way, they stink!

Overall, the job went well. The original roof was rotten and very leaky. Since the replacement there have been no problems.
