Description of Work: Bought a Big Deal for 2 hours of electrical service, but they never responded to my phone calls or e-mails--not even after Angie's List tried one last time to get them in contact with me. I guess they were overwhelmed by too much sudden business, but at least a quick e-mail acknowledgment that they could not honor my coupon would have been something.

Description of Work: I called and left a message back in Spring when I purchased the "deal". Tim called me back-we spoke about a light that was flickering in my stairwell and what I needed done. I told him where I lived and gave him my cell and home numbers. He said he would call me back to schedule and we played phone tag for another two weeks. I called a few times and never heard back. I tried again in the summer but nothing, no repsonse and by then my deal was probably expired. Tim must be amazingly busy or amazingly disorganized to essentially blow off a future customer especially in my case: I had shared with him additional work I needed to have done so had he actually done the work he likely would have gotten more work. I've never dealt with a contractor who takes money for work and doesn't perform the work-I believe there's a term for that. The last message I left for him was to ask to a refund. I guess one can dream.

+ 0 moreThe job was done as best he could. He did say we may need an additional brace, and i believe he is right as the fan makes a tinkle noise in the highest setting. I will be calling him to remedy this and feel confident he will do a good job. He also came after and performed some other electrical work for us. Very well priced and work is excellent quality.

+ -1 moreI told Star Electric of the electrical issues that I had experienced and I had already purchased materials to save time and travel. They listened to each of the problem points. First - the outlet in the first floor bathroom did not work. They isolated and repaired the problem. The outlet in the second floor bathroom was intermittently failing. This issue was caused by the first floor outlet. The outside outlet was not on a GFI. They replaced the outlet. The kitchen outlets were malfunctioning because of a faulty outside outlet so they replaced the outlet. These are only a few of the problems that they tackled for me.
Description of Work: I had a series of electrical issues in my house. Star Electric diagnosed and repaired all of the problems and brought my home up to code. The father / son team was professional and courteous. I will use them again if future work is required.

After paying for the service, I called Star Electric and left a message on their answering machine as to who I was, where I lived and a brief description f the work needed with 2 phone numbers to contact me. One week went by and there was no return call. So I called again, left my name, where I lived and 2 phone numbers to contact me witagain. Another week went by and I called a third time with no response. Finally I called Angies List to explain to them my dissatisfaction with the service provider and they refunded my money. A simple phone call over the 3-week period could have prevented this negative review.

+ 0 moreI was a little disappointed. The person came very late one evening and did the work. As he was leaving, he didn’t even mention the amount of time he spent to replace the light. He hurried through the work because it was so late. He had to work in the dark. I needed a GFI replaced and ended up having to pay for it. He was not here for the entire 2 hours to honor the coupon, and I didn’t feel that I received the proper service. The part that he replaced was rather inexpensive, but he charged me nonetheless.
Description of Work: Star Electric came out to honor an Angie's List Big Deal for 2 hours of electrical work and install a light on my front porch.

+ 1 moreI found out about Star electric through a "Big Deal" on Angie's list. Tim returned my call right away and came out to see all the work we needed to have done. Once the lights and fan arrived, he and his son came back to install everything. They worked quickly and efficiently, and they tidied up once they were finished. They were very pleasant and professional and I will certainly call them again in the future. I couldn't be more pleased with how everything turned out.
Description of Work: Replace 2 outdoor light fixtures; install wiring in dining room and install chandelier; replace ceiling fan; replace hall fixture; repair two bathroom GFI outlets; repair lightswitch in garage; repair doorbell. Removed three can lights. Also removed plywood valances containing fluorescent lighting in family room and dining room.

I have called Star Electric and have left one message and spoke to the owner who told me that he was extremely busy and would call me back to schedule that was in May & June. I have not heard back and at this point would like my money back. I will find someone else to take care of my electric issues. I would appreciate Angie's List helping me to get the money back. + -1 moreBoth times I called Tim Balogh he returned my messages quickly. The first time he came out, gave me an estimate, and then we arranged a time for him to return. He arrived a little later than originally planned, and one item he purchaed wasn't quite as agreed, but it wasn't worth him making another trip (he did offer to do that if I wanted him to). The second time I called was in the evening, and I had a problem with something. I expected him to come out the following day, but he said he would be there within the hour. He bought the replacement part, and installed it that evening. I am sorry to read that others have had a different experience.
Description of Work: I have used Star Electric twice in recent months - once to correct some improperly grounded outlets and install some GFIs, and once when I needed something repaired quickly.

He said he would call me the next week, but I didn't hear from him, so I called back. We sent up an appointment, he said he would call Monday to confirm the appointment for Tuesday. I never heard from him either days. This was Memorial Day weekend and still nothing. I do not want to work with him anymore, I have canceled my Big Deal purchase.

+ -1 moreWe used an Angie's List discount and hired Star Electric (Tim Balogh) to perform a panel upgrade for 200 amp service. Tim seemed to do a good job, all looked in order. However when I had it inspected, there were two items that did not pass inspection (mast was not high enough off the ground, a second ground rod was needed) and a connector for Ohio Edison to bring new service to the house was not installed. These seemed minor to me and I called Tim to discuss. He said "I'll call on Monday" I didn't hear from him on Monday, so I called and left a message the following day Tuesday. No response. I again called and left a message on Thursday of that week - still no response. If Tim had contacted me and made arrangements for the work, I would have given him A's and B's.
Description of Work: An electrical panel upgrade to bring our house from 60 amp service to 200 amp and have the house prepared for Ohio Edison to connected the new 200 amp service to the house.
