Sears Garage Doors

I called to have this service repair done to stave off problems I'd been having with the garage door opening and closing in the winter when it gets cold. I was assured that everything in working order and that we would not have problems in the cold weather again and to call if we did and they'd come back out and fix it. The rollers were worn and all the work he did would eliminate any problems in the future. Well, it is cold and it is not going down now. When I called Sears, they told me they would not send anyone out to look at it to fix it. for free because it was not a warranty issue and I'd have to pay $75 plus the cost of any parts. It is clearly just a maladjusted chain (loose) and I should be able to have someone come out and look at it for free. As it was, other Angie's List providers gave free rollers in their garage door tune ups. We were told the rollers were worn and that was the issue so we replaced them at additional cost. Horrible service! I will never use Sear home services again!

Did all the things the tune up said would be addressed and replaced the rollers with lifetime rollers that were heavier duty than what we had. A little disappointed they did not have the right kind of weatherstripping to replace my old damaged one, however. The worker was thorough and professional and replaced a broken hinge free of charge and changed a light bulb in the control unit. He was responsive to our concerns. Update: As soon as the weather turned cold, the garage door did exactly what it did before my tune up. I told the technician that I was having this done because of the difficulty I had with it in the winter months and was told if it continued, to just call in and they would come and adjust it. I called the service department and was told is was not warranted, that I'd have to pay an additional $75 for someone to come out and pay additional for any parts. I dispute this as it is a warranty issue. I am unsatisfied with my service and Sears failure to honor any promise to make it right. As it was, other Angie's list providers offered a Big Deal that included rollers at no additional cost. I went with Sears because of their name and the expectation of them standing behind their work. I was wrong there! Update - 1/12/16. I had another garage door company come out and for $39 they did a 1 minute adjustment to the closing force of the garage door opener, which is all Sears would have had to do . They, too, were surprised you would not come out and look at it/ Just so you know, you lost a double garage door job that I had this other company do today to my rental property due to your lack of responsiveness to my concerns about this matter. Penny wise, I'd say, and not good business practice.

1.Sears called and scheduled service on Saturday as the earliest available date for service. We had asked for service on Thursday. 2 Technician arrived at scheduled time and after looking at the broken spring told me that these springs are a special type of garage springs that were not specified on the $ 249 deal to replace garage door springs and rollers. He stated that replacement will cost me $ 133 additional, and that purchased 'deal' will not cover the spring costs. 3. I asked if he could not replace the rollers and adjust the price to replace the springs instead. He said "no" - the deal had already been paid for and the only option was to pay the additional $ 133. I had to accept since I was travelling the next week and wanted a working garage door for the family while I was out of town 4. To me this entire experience smacks of 'bait and switch' with Sears refusing to keep their part of the deal. How many home owners know that there are 4 types of garage door springs (as stated by the technician - there may be more or less) and that the deal was good for only one type of spring? - this was not stated on the deal or an explanation of how to identify the type of spring on the garage door. 5. Never again - 'any service from Sears'.

Second time we have used this service. Excellent. Service men were prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and professional.

Greg was on time and took the time to explain problems with the door. He evened the tracks and lowered the motor to prevent it from rubbing and creating further damage. He made corrections, did the lube and tune-up in a very timely manner. I cannot say enough about the service. It was GREAT-Perfect all around and very reasonable. Opener failed two months later due fractured gear wheel. Not considered fault of service.

It was excellent. They removed my ancient garage door opener and installed my new craftsman garage door opener.They did the job in 45 mins like they promised. It works perfectly fine. I am very satisfied with the job.

It went very well. He was on time, and worked quickly and efficiently.

I called to have Sears install a new garage door opener. The door and garage opener may have been installed when the house was built in 1963. While it still worked by pushing the keypad, it was noisy and the remotes no longer worked. I went to the store and bought an online price matched unit....saving $15. I did an online sale purchase of the installation using a coupon from Angie"s saving $30 off the instore installation price. I was contacted by Sears personnel to set up the installation two days later. Nick came out and told me what I knew was apparent I had some major issues with my garage door...not only was it an old wood door: the springs were loose, the rails were rusting, there were missing bolts and i had a mess on my hands. Nick told me he could not hook up the new door opener in good conscience because the rails & springs were so bad there was a good chance the opener would malfunction and come down on a car. Originally Nick offered me three options replace the Door & all hardware with their top steel door for $899, or their second best door for $749, or finally only replace the hardware for $429. I declined all of these offers. Nick then asked me if he could offer me a substantial savings on a door would I be interested in a great deal...to which I said make me an offer...he said there was a door that would fit my garage that had been ordered but never picked up...it was in the warehouse in Pittsburgh and he could get the unwanted top of the line door delivered and installed with all new hardware for $500. I quickly agreed to this awesome deal and three days later a new two man crew did the complete garage door assembly with all new hardware for the agreed on price. Overall I saved over $400 on everything and I have a great looking brand new garage door with all new hardware, springs, and rails plus my quiet new Sears garage door. The only negative to the whole deal was i was told I had an appointment between 8 am and 10 am, i received a call that they were 45 minutes away from my house ant 1115 am, they did not start work until noon, two hours after my appointment window...this according to the manager who called to follow up was due to an installer calling off work that morning. Overall I am very satisified with my new garage door and garage door opener.

The day of the appointment, no one showed. I received a call at 2:45pm, 45 minutes past the time we agreed to meet and promptly told the Sears sales person I am no longer interested. Absolutely poor first impression.

They were fine. They lubricated the doors and replace the rusty rollers. They did what I expected them to do.

Fixed garage door that wouldn't close properly 80% of the time and reduced noise by replacing the rollers. Also moved the sensors to the proper location.

I bought a $69 garage door tune up big deal for this service. It was good.I paid another $120 on top of the big deal price. He treated me pretty good and was very professional.

Went Well, solved the issue.

The gentleman repaired a bolt that was loose. He showed me how to operate the locking system. He oiled and lubed everything and went through an extensive inspection system. I was very pleased with his work.

The whole thing took 15 minutes and the new pad was working fine!

Very well-They were quick and professional and my garage door should be good to go for another decade. They also honored the 10% off Angies coupon!

The service was performed as described and no additional costs were added. The only reason I am giving the service a B is because I wish the garage door was quieter when going up or down, but all in all they are much better than before the service was performed.
