Protect-A-Cote Inc.

This company was recommended to me by another company that I have used in the past...and is no longer servicing my area. I spoke with a representative from this company and asked if they could provide an estimate for some asphalt resurfacing that needed to be done to my driveway...I described the work and the area that required the resurfac.ing. I was told by the representative that they would come out and see what needed to be done and give me an estimate for the work...I never heard from them again. Meanwhile I called a different company that already completed the work!

The driveway was still wet and when the rain hit the driveway, it splattered on the sidewalk, house, windows, screens, patio, steps, and garage. We called them right away and sent them pictures of the mess. They said they would come out within a week and review the situation and get back with us on what they were going to do. We have not heard anything from them yet and it has been almost four months. We are not satisfied and have lived with this mess for about four months.

The estimate that was provided was comprehensive and reflected a knowledge base that indicated a high level of professionalism and experience. The end result demonstrated their skills. I highly recommend Protect-A-Cote for a job well done.ote

I initially contacted this company for a quote on driveway sealcoating in June. They honored the original 30 day quote guarantee even though I did not have work done until August (at my request). The called a day in advance to confirm the date was acceptable to do the work. The did the job at the scheduled time. The driveway looks great. My only complaint would be that the application of the sealcoat was quite sloppy on the sides of the driveway with some it puddling in multiple areas.

They did a nice job, did not try to over sell and would use them again.

I asked if it was to wet to do the driveway and was told no. I also have a spot that if they did waht was in the brochure I would not have the hole I have now. I only used them because they were advertised in your monthly magazine.

They arrived on time and did the job in one day. Fred was on site most of the time. He was very nice and answered all of my questions both during and after the job. The woman who answers their phone was really great. My long driveway is beautiful now and I can expect it to last for many years as it was done right. I gathered five estimates and theirs was the least expensive of all those I deemed reliable. I am so glad that I went with them.

This was the only company that had the knowledge of how to repair things without tearing down our garage.

He bragging that he had one of these machines like they use in parking lots and he used it on my driveway. When he was done we had a heavy rain and my driveway looked like all the puddles they have in a parking lot. I called him and he refused to call me. I almost went to my attorney, but I didn't because I had already paid him. He did an absolute lousy job. I haven't seen any ads around here for him so I don't even know if he is still in business. I can't wait until I can have this other guy fix it. It still looks like that, it's full of puddles and its slanted toward the house instead of the lot. I wouldn't go any where near him.

When I first contacted Protect-A-Cote for a quote, the receptionist told me that someone would be out in the next few days to look at my driveway and provide a quote. I told her that I probably would not be home, and that I wanted the quote to cover paving the gravel portion of the existing driveway. When I arrived home at the end of the following day, there was a note in my mailbox that said that the driveway assessment was completed and a quote would be mailed. About 5 days later I received the quote in the mail that included a booklet explaining how the asphalt paving process would be performed. I called and told the receptionist to schedule the work. Protect -A-Cote was not able to perform the work on the agreed upon date because of nonstop rain. Their receptionist called and rescheduled the performance date for the following week. The crew showed up at about 7:30 a.m. Monday morning and completed all of the driveway preparation before noon. The next morning the asphalt paver was there at about 7:45 and I talked to Larry, who told me the rest of the equipment and crew was on the way. I left before the other equipment arrived, and returned shortly after noon to find that the driveway. was completely paved and the crew was gone. The driveway looks great and drains perfectly. The areas around the catch basin in my driveway, as well as where the asphalt apron meets the street, and the asphalt pavement meets the concrete portion of the driveway were all matched perfectly without any gaps or changes in grade from one surface to another. Protect-A-Cote did an excellent job for a fair price. They left the work area clean and did not damage the flowers or shrubs edging the driveway. I would not hesitate to recommend them to neighbors and friends.

The owner of the company came out to meet with me and ended up givine me a comprehensive analysis of my driveway. I ended up going several years without it being seal coated, so the surface of the drive was slightly damaged in a few areas. Fred, the owner, explained to me what they will do, how it will look and what to ultimately expect. Out of the 4 companies I contacted, Protect-a-coat was the only one that actually talked to me about their process (others dropped a quote off in the mail). The initial discussion is what sold me on their services. Several weeks later, they came out. I met with the two installers and went over my driveway, the trouble areas and what I liked and disliked about previous times I had it seal coated. They took their time (I have a BIG driveway - about 600 ft long!), were patient and ultimately, I was very happy with their work. Based off of my previous seal coats by other companies, I felt that Protect-a-coat did the best job and I would hire them again.

We had a date set up in October but due to weather we couldn't start it until a coupld of weeks ago.They did exactly as they said they would do. They were prompt and efficient.

This is the second time I have used protect-a-cote. They offered a discount since we were previous customers. They sent out a quote and were easy to schedule with. They called a day in advance and were out the next day to complete the job. The driveway looks fabulous. Would definitely use Protect-a-Cote again!!

It was fairly priced. If I ever needed it done again, I'd call them first.

We contacted the business via email and got a response within a day or two. Within a week we had a quote and it was the lowest of the three contractors we contacted. Approx. 2 weeks later we had a brand new asphalt driveway. The new material is somewhat porous - weeds are cropping up thru the new pavement. We will tackle that problem next year with a sealcoat that we can do ourselves. A quality business. Perhaps some others complain because they are impatient?

I have called Protect-A-Cote on 3 different occasions, each time requesting an estimate for paving, but I have never heard back from them. I was persistent because they have been highly rated on Angie's List -- except for a few complaints that they don't respond to estimate requests! During both my 2nd and 3rd phone calls, I pointed this out to the person who answered the phone, making sure she knew that I was an Angie's list member, and that their lack of responsiveness was the only negative component of their Angie's list rating. I told her I understood that the company might be too busy to give me an estimate, which would be fine with me, but I asked her if they would at least grant me the courtesy to let me know if they were unable to do so. The person I spoke with assured me that she would pass my request along to the appropriate person, but as I have already stated, I never heard back from them. Very unprofessional, in my opinion!

They did an okay job and their price was reasonable. Last year when I called for my estimate the person I talked to said they would be out in a couple of days with an estmate, but they weren't. I called back and she told me again that they would be out and they weren't. After three calls I still couldn't get an estimate. I looked them up on Angie's List and there were multiple reports with communication problems. By now it was the end of September and it was too late in the season to have anyone come out to do the job. The thing that ticked me off is that they should have told me from the beginning that they were all booked up for the season and recommend me to call someone else. I was nervous about using them for this last season, not because there was a problem with the work but I was just unsure of how they would respond. I would have given them an "A" if it weren't for this issue.

He answered my questions and pointed out things which other companies did not do. I had several estimates for other companies and they were the lowest. I had one that was more than double the cost of this one. They were nice, prompt. they edged where everything needed to be edged. They are a few spots where they are going to come back this weeks, to seal crack, which they told me could happen.

They did an excellent job. They came out and let my husband know if there were any incidents. They let us know up-front if anything was going to cost extra. There was bad weather regarding rain and they got really far behind on my driveway. They agreed to drop everything and finish up my driveway right away after the weather cleared.

Excellent. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

A professional company. Someone answered the phone when I called. An estimate for sealcoating was done and put in our mailbox on the date agreed upon. Services done on the day agreed upon. Job well done.

I have called them no less than 4 times about that spot. The first three times, there was no call back. The 4th time I threatened to call Angie's List and they called me back. They promised to look at it and get back to me. It has been about 3 weeks since they called me back with their promise, and I haven't heard from them. I would never use this company again. If this spot is left the way it is, it will be dangerous to my family.

We had trouble communicating with them. We wanted to have two driveways done for two different properties, and they wouldn't give us an estimate for one of them. They didn't communicate why until it was too late to get the work done this season. Then they called to tell us they had done a driveway at an address that is not one of ours. The work was okay and the price was okay, but we'd rather work with a company with which we can have more accurate, efficient, and timely communication.

They did the job really quickly. They kept it really clean and I think that they did a really good job. They did it within one day and so then we had access to our garage the same day.

Their responsiveness is terrible and I've given up. I'm finding someone else to do the job.
