They missed water/sewer liens which were amounting to thousands of dollars. No one would help, return calls or emails. Only received response once I reported to the Better Business Bureau.

A week in a half before our scheduled closing, I contacted the company to ask if closing was still scheduled for the original date and if I needed to be doing anything for closing to occur. I was contacted same day with the answers to my questions. The week of closing was a mess, however. The title and escrow agent did not return at least three phone calls. When I did reach her, she asked me to email me the questions she listened to me just ask. She never responded to me, neither by phone or email. This was two days before closing, and mind you, I had some very important questions, such as how much money I would need to have in my checking account so that we could close. After another voicemail and lack of response, the day before closing, I called in the early evening and happened to catch the agent at her desk right before she went home for the day. At my request, I wanted to have time to review the settlement statement. I got it about twelve hours before closing, and since it was sent in the evening, I had to wait until the morning of closing to ask questions. The settlement statement had a few large errors in it that would have cost be around $400. Luckily, I was able to get a hold of her the morning of closing a couple hours before signing and ask my questions and have the settlement statement revised. At the end of the day, the property closed, but not without a fair amount of frustration and lack of communication. I think it's worth adding that I work with title companies on real estate transfers in my profession, so I have some ability to judge who's good and easy to work. I would not work with Ohio Real Title again after having the experience that I did.
Description of Work: Ohio Real Title provided the title, escrow, and closing of the sale of my property. They were selected by the purchaser as the title company in the transaction.

I used Ohio Real Title because they are affiliated with my real estate broker. Buyers have the right to choose their own title company and next time I will be more careful and will not choose Ohio Real Title. First of all, everything was very much last minute. I was not able to close on the day scheduled because the documentation required to close was not complete on time. I was literally waiting at the bank to get a check until 5 pm on the day I was supposed to close and never got the information I needed to get the check so we could not close that day. As a result, I ended up having to wire the money to close the transaction, which was a big hassle. I was not provided a settlement statement to review until the very moment when I was expected to sign everything. There ended up being errors/discrepancies on the settlement statement (that's what happens when everything is last second) and that caused a lot of confusion. The biggest complaint that I have is that Ohio Real Title didn't seem to realize that they were being working for me. It does not appear that they ever read my sales contract to make sure that the settlement terms matched those in the contract. They seemed to be accept information from the sellers that was not in the contract as fact even when that information was inconsistent with the sales contract. They also added an administrative fee to the seller's agent which was not in my contract. I really have to wonder how that happened---why would they add a fee to seller's agent when that was not in the contract and if the seller's agent told them to do so, why would they listen to her? In sum, I had a terrible experience with this company and would personally never use them again or recommend them.
