Response from MOTHER EARTH
Mother Earth was hired to spring clean, prune and mulch the flower beds, aerate and fertilize the lawn and trim 2 branches from the large tree in the front yard. On April 13 and April 14, a worker and myself proceeded to select prune, weed, rake debris in his flower beds. We edged all the beds and installed 8 yards of quality double shredded hardwood mulch. In addition, we aerated and applied fertilizer to the lawn during the 2 days. A third worker on April 13 cut down 2 branches from the large tree in the front yard. While doing so, the member asked about building a flower bed edge box out of 4x4 wood. My worker finished up the job with the tree and then purchased the box materials and gathered tools necessary to complete the job. He was happy with the work when completed. My records show the cost for the 2 days at this job included 34 labor hours, 8 yrds. of mulch, 2- 50lb. bags of fertilizer for lawn, aerator rental, lumber, screws etc. for flower bed box, weed pre emergent and debris bags. His total cost $1400.00 On April 14, he mentioned to rake up the acorns in an area next to the west fence line. This fence line does not have any grass. It is a running path for his 2 large dogs. Later in the day we asked to rake again. Gesturing with his hands stating that “this area looks good but could you rake over here a little better”. Motioning to his left about 10 feet. We raked the loose acorns. Before we left the job site on April 14, I asked him if he’d like to come out and look things over while we were finishing up. His response was that he wasn’t feeling well. He wrote out a check and we departed. A few days later he phoned aggressively. He stated a number of times how he spent a lot of money and wanted the acorns raked up. I responded by letting him know we would be in his neighborhood later that week and we’d stop by to rake them again. Keep in mind, this is a running path for dogs and acorns continue to fall like leaves off a tree. A worker and I returned a few days later and raked around the fence. He apparently cleaned a pile of debris at the entrance gate since working on April 13, 14. So yes, there were acorns behind and within where a pile of boxes, bags and trash cans that had been stored. The only acorns on the ground when we finished raking were embedded in the ground from his dogs. The rake wouldn’t even scratch them loose. Another few days later, he phoned again even more aggressive demanding that we return to rake acorns. I returned within a week, with a worker and we raked the loose acorns again. This time focusing on the tree lawn. The oak tree had continued to drop acorns. In total, I have over 40 labor hours into this job along with the above mentioned materials. I feel returning twice after the initial dates of the paid job shows integrity and the willingness to satisfy our customers needs.
