I was pleased with the initial quote and the service was performed in a timely manner. The storms are of excellent quality, though they are quite expensive at about $180 per window. Her prices were also a little better than Supreme. However, I was not very happy with the quality of installation. The caulk work around all of the windows was messy and ugly. I could see immediately that two of the windows in my attic were installed wrong, but when Ms. Matteo came out to look she said nothing seemed wrong to her. They weren't fixed until the next spring when the storms wouldn't fit in. Also, the screen in my kitchen window was a bit too small and keeps falling out. She fixed the things she knew about, but it's the ugly, messy caulk job that makes me hesitant to use them for the next set of windows. If that caulk work looked nicer I would definitely recommend them, and from a functional standpoint, they are all working very nicely now.
Description of Work: I had about 24 storm windows installed. Most green, some white. Some triple track, some inside removable, some outside removable.

Ms. Matteo is the consummate professional and very knowledgeable. Last year, when we started this project on phase one, she had the opportunity to "upsell" and oversell us on aluminum storms that contain some sort of filling in the aluminum for supposed energy purposes, but she did not. She told us that in her customers' experience, they don't really work and that only gas between the glass would work (which is not available). She also had the opportunity to oversell us "double-thick" glass since I was interested in that for extra energy efficiency. She did not, saying instead that while the double-thick glass would probably not improve energy efficiency, it would help reduce sound, but would be a bit heavier to move. (See more on this below.) She also had the opportunity to sell us even more storm windows last year but sensed our hesitation and concern about whether this would accomplish our energy-efficiency goals. She thus recommended that for a first phase, we simply identify the draftiest and coldest rooms, put new storm windows in there, and see how it goes. We did so in the fall of 2008 and had DRAMATICALLY reduced gas bills that winter (including all of our other energy-efficiency work--but these storm windows were among the top items). Her knowledge and unwillingness to "upsell" and thus increase her profit margin impressed us. She did recommend for some of our windows that we use the double-thick glass to decrease street noise where applicable. We did that and it worked well and recommend it for those who have certain windows that let in too much outside noise. This year's prices were a bit higher than last year's prices, which we did not like given the state of the economy and the volume that we were purchasing as second-time customers. The average price this year was about $185 a standard window, and we did a lot of windows as you can tell, including some huge oversized ones that had to be custom made and thus cost a bit more. But I would imagine that this pricing is because as a retailer Ms. Matteo doesn't have much margin. Adrian, who installs the windows for Ms. Matteo, is kind person and highly professional. He and the company also fix broken sash cords as he goes, for only $25 extra each, which is a real bargain compared to hiring a handyperson. Adrian really knows what he is doing. We highly recommend this company. Unfortunately, Angie's List does not have a separate category for storm windows, which is a totally separate category from window replacement, so I hope you find this rating.
Description of Work: We replaced and added lots of high-quality storm windows to a century home to improve our energy efficiency. We cannot really add replacement windows to our home because it is an historic home in an historic district with leaded-glass windows. This was the second phase of a two-year project. We really needed to reduce our energy costs, and we did--significantly. It also eliminated drafts completely. Patricia Matteo, the company owner, deals in Seaway storm windows. http://www.seawaymfg.com/products/storm-products/windows/ We found another slightly larger company retailer/installer who deals in these windows and the price was comparable/slightly higher last year.
