MARDAN CEMENT CONTRACTORS

The first word that describes Dan of Mardan iCement s integrity. He does what he says he will do. It is a pleasure to watch his crew pour, float, and finish a concrete floor and driveway. This is an addendum to a previous review due to the fact that the previous driveway had spalling problems. Dan was immediately available, showed up to look at the issue, and proceeded to determine that it had to be redone. And once again, as I have said more than once, he is a man of his word. On time. Competent. Honest. Straightforward. Available. Hard working crew. Answers questions directly. Faces issues directly. What more can I say? I would most definitely recommend him to the members of this list.

First of all, the replaced driveway sections and sidewalks look perfect. The new drain directs rain water so much better than the old drain. Mardan kept us informed daily about whether work could proceed (weather conditions obviously have a major part to play in this decision.) The work was completed exactly as the contract stipulated. We were provided information at the end of the job about how best to keep our new concrete in good condition. We are very happy with the job as completed by this contractor and feel we definitely got our money's worth.

I got three quotes to replace my driveway and Dan was the only contractor who wanted to meet me on-site to go over options. All three bids were for approximately the same price but neither of the other two companies even followed-up on their quotes. Dan stayed in contact over the winter and, once the weather cleared this spring, he and his crew came when promised. With all the rain we've been having, the job was slowed down a bit but Dan stayed in touch regarding timing. The new driveway and sidewalk look great. Dan followed-up with me the the end of the job to make sure I understood what had been done (drains, grading, etc), how to maintain the new surface and to answer any last questions. Great experience all around.

They were excellent and conscientious. They were not expensive. This was the second time were using them and they did good work we hire them again. They were on time and they did not fool around. They cleaned up everything and I did not have to do anything.

From start to finish we had a great experience with Mardan Cement. Dan, the owner, did a great job of communicating with us before, during, and after the project. When we first contacted him about coming out to do an estimate, he was honest and advised that due to the volume of work he had and estimates that needed completed it would be approximately a week to two weeks before he could come out. He told me this so there were no misrepresentations or expectations that were not being fulfilled. When he came out to do the estimate he was by far the most thorough and comprehensive of all the concrete contractors that came out to do an estimate. Most of them just spent 10 minutes walking around and then would give me a price on the back of a business card. Dan spent approximately an hour out at my house with about 35 minutes of that doing the estimate. He walked around, measured everything, made suggestions, and took the time to explain everything to us in detail to make sure we understood the who, what, where, why, etc. He also was the only person to actually write a formal, useful estimate for us. Based on this initial contact, we hired him on the spot. As for the project itself we have zero complaints. Everything was done per the contract with nothing left out or us having to call them back for anything. In fact if every contractor we dealt with during our home remodel were like Mardan, our project would have been ten times easier. The one issue we did have, which just occurred recently, was water was pooling in my drive around the new drain. I called Dan on a Sunday morning planning on leaving a message. To my surprise he picked up the phone and when I explained what was occurring he came right out. Dan was able to diagnose and fix the issue within an hour. Personally I was impressed by this simply because not only did he pick up the phone but came out to my house immediately on a Sunday morning to address the issue. Most contractors simply do not offer this kind of service. While I do not have another driveway to do, I am going to be asking Mardan for an estimate on a stamped concrete patio.

He came to the neighborhood area, went over the possibilities with a number of home owners, which fluctuated between our and seven, gave individual quotes, and then waited for our decisions. Four people signed up. I acted as the go between. Dan was straightforward when talking about dates, noting that the weather was a serious factor. He gave approximate dates, and then as the job became close in time, provided updates so we knew when he would be here. There are a number of factors that contribute to this evaluation. They showed up on time. When they went to work, his crew was in my opinion very efficient, with each man knowing what had to be done. Granted each person did more than one job, but they always seemed to be doing the right things at the right time. His crew was friendly, answering questions that we had. Dan was always ready to provide advice if we asked, but he always pointed out that he would do what he customer wanted. The job as completed looks excellent, and surely meets my expectations. I have not spoken to all the people who had the work done, but the ones that I have talked to are very happy with the work. So if you review the evaluation factors that are listed at the start of the evaluation, it is my opinion that this company and the people who are part of it deserve the A grade that I gave.

Mardan was fantastic! Dan was prompt about giving us the estimate and accurate about when he could start the work. Team was efficient and did a great job of tearing out the old driveway and laying the grid for the new one. The cost included labor, materials and permit. When I came home from work and saw the finished driveway, I was surprised because I didn't expect it to be so beautiful! There was a decorative edge and swirls in the concrete that really made it look like more than just a driveway. Sorry we only had them do the back half. When we're ready for the second half or for any other cement needs, we'll definitely call them. Our next door neighbor was so impressed by them that he asked them to replace a few pieces of broken slate walkway while they were here, which they did. So he won over other neighbors too!!

The work was very well done, timely and looks great. I used this company twenty years ago and was pleased then as now.

This was an awesome experience!! Mardan Cement Contractors are professional, punctual, organized, easy to work with, worked hard and quickly and provide top notch service. Dan came out to my house measured and then proceeded to spend a half hour with me explaining everything he was going to do and why. I asked a few questions here and there, but Dan took care of most of my inquiries by simply explaining. Since I know zero about concrete this professional courtesy was why I decided to go with Mardan Cement Contractors. I requested bids from two other companies on Angie's list and neither company spent any real time talking to me as a customer. He and his workers spent one day excavating my drive and done by 3:30pm. There was no standing around and each guy knew exactly what he was supposed to do. To me it looked like a well oiled machine. They came in, did the work quickly, and left. On the day of the pour, they showed up early for prep, waited for the cement to come, and when it came started hauling concrete. Again, each guy on the team knew what to do, how to do it, and the driveway was poured by 2:30pm. That's an insane work ethic for Dan and all of his guys. When everything was done, a few of guys even helped my wife and daughters etch our initals into the freshly poured concrete. The guy didn't have to, but he spent a few extra minutes to help them. That made my day!! My wife, who is never excited about contract work, couldn't stop talking about how good it looked and how hard everyone worked. I am all smiles!! Great experience with this company, would call again. Dan from Mardan was great to work with, provided updates along the way, rerouted a drain pipe for us that came up mid-job, and finished on time, even with weather delays. Great communication; love the driveway and patio.

All concrete work looks beautiful. Driveway swale expertly drains rainwater to the street now. Very thick and sturdy feel. Expert forms built, smooth edges, wide walkways. Professional, timely, kept us informed. Coordinated our needs with projects they already had on adjacent street allowing us to be scheduled sooner than others we had contacted. Would definitely use again and would definitely recommend to others. Experts at what they do.

They arrived on the job as scheduled and actually worked an honest day. Early to arrive and leaving mid afternoon with no mess left behind. Repaving a drive and garage can be a very messy project but Mardan cement kept the work area clean and the surrounding landscape and lawn/ patio etc etc practically untouched. The crew even replaced (re-installed exisiting) a brick border I use around my herb garden. I'm very impressed. The finish they use to seal their work glistens in the sun..

I recently rated Mardan Cement badley , and it was done out of anger when me and my husband noticed a lot of pitting in the driveway this spring. The job was done almost 3 years ago so I didn't realize I could still contact the company with my concerns, whats done is done. This was the only thing we were upset about. Today , 5/5/2014 Dan made a visit to see for himself and he explained that even though we did not use salt this winter on the drive we were bringing it in on the tires from the road and under the cars. We still can not get rid of the ones we have but we can prevent them from getting larger by sealing it every other year, and giving the reason for which we chose Mardan Cement in the beginning, Professional and Conscientious, Dan will be sealing the drive in a couple weeks to make us happy again. MARDAN CEMENT CONTRACTORS widened the apron of my driveway. The turn into my driveway was very sharp and the improvement they made was great and makes the driveway more accessible. They also paved the end of the driveway to allow the connection from the street to the driveway a much smother transition. They took extra care to make it look good. They were able to schedule me rather quickly and fit me in their schedule before their busy time. They did an excellent job and I would use them again in the future.

It went very well. We were notified ahead of time as to when to expect them. They arrived on time and worked the whole time they were here. They were courteous and professional, everything was cleaned up at the end of each day. They completed the job when they said they would.

Dan met me at the site at an agreed to time - provided a written estimate with an explanation of the work and how he planned to do the job. Job was completed as described. They left the work site cleaned up like they were not even there. Price was competitive, they showed up when they said they would be there, and I was satisfied with the quality of the work. The only glitch, which I considered minor, was I requested a copy of the city building permit which I think they just forgot to provide for me. I know it was issued though because the only minor hold-up in the the whole process was waiting for the city inspector to come and approve the site preparation prior to the cement pour. Updated on 10-22-13 I Received a copy of the building permit in the mail today. Thanks Dan, I appreciate the follow up...

Dan from Mardan answered all my calls and questions promptly and professionally. He and his crew showed up on time and completed the job faster than I imagined. They navigated my narrow street with ease, and we were driving on our new driveway a week later. I would refer these guys in a heartbeat. Dan himself even added a decorative detail to the front walkway at no extra charge! True story. It's written in concrete if you don't believe me. Thanks again Mardan Cement.

Dan was very responsive to messages and quickly getting out to look at and quote the drive and garage floor replacement. Very professional and friendly. We were a bit concerned about the work/estimate for the garage floor since he didn't know the code requirements for a floor drain in Cleveland Heights. We didn't go with him because we didn't want to have any surprise expenses if additional work was needed; however, I did want to give him a good review since the balance of the quote/meeting was positive.

Excellent job from start to finish resulting in a beautiful finished product. Dan, the owner was very timely in responding to our first call for a request for estimate and then in responding to subsequent calls we made to him. He answered all our questions to our satisfaction. Tried to accommodate the job around our schedule as much as possible. His staff of workers are a very nice group of men who are polite and who work hard. They have a sense of humor and they all seemed to work well together. We would not hesitate to use their services again.

Dan and his crew are true professionals. They were punctual and professional. We needed to have a drain installed for the concrete driveway. They ran up against unexpected obstacles with our existing downspouts and drainage. Dan used creative thinking to work around the problem. The job was not delayed. It was finished in 1 1/2 days. Dan sloped the driveway by the garage from left to right toward our backyard and dug a trough in the back yard for water to drain to. Our yard slopes down toward the back, so the water would continue to run down. The city inspectors approved this approach. The driveway and sidewalks are beautiful. The sidewalk in front of our house by our steps is great, artistically done. The driveway and sidewalks are hand finished and has two borders. This is a family company which has been in business for something like 57 years. They also use wire mesh, which pleased us. The crew cleaned up everything nicely. We are ;very pleased we hired Mardan.

We chose not to use Mardan, but we wanted to give Dan the highest rating. He was professional, courteous, and very knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions patiently. He made some good suggestions. Since our work included some drainage problems, we ended up choosing a different method from the one Dan suggested. We would recommend giving Dan a chance to bid on your job.

Update.... Dan and his crew complete our two walkways yesterday and did a wonderful job! They were there on time and left my yard in the same shape as if it were their own. I would recommend contacting Mardan Cement. If a need arises for any further cement work, I will be calling them first.

They provided a prompt quote and scheduled the work a few months later in the fall. They were up front about the schedule and ongoing weather delays. When they were finally able to start, I had to delay the work due to other construction on my house. I really appreciated the flexibility to delay the work until the following spring. When the driveway and garage floor were completed in the spring, I was very satisfied with the work. They even saved the sod they cut out to install the forms for the concrete. This saved me time and money in repairing my lawn around the driveway and walks.

I loved Mardan Cement Contractors. They included in their proposal the widening in some spaces and the eventual finishing work versus other people who said the swirl finish instead of the traditional finish was an extra $400. Very nice guys, very professional, also very prompt, and very friendly. That is one of things I really liked about them. They were very friendly. They came a couple days before to let the neighbors know that they were going to be on the street, have equipment, and that the equipment was going to be parked on the street. So everybody had a comfort level with we are going to be here and that they were going to be out the way as much as possible, but that was part of what had to be to do it. It was very nice of them. Two other people on our street had them do some minor work for them while they were working on our street. They were here about 7:30 everyday and then they were done by 3:30. They cleaned up. They were very clear about explaining what the process would be. They walked us through the process and then were really clear with us with the curing process for the driveway and making sure people were not walking on it and when we could park back on the driveway. They came back out and checked the work. They were just really, really professional and very nice guys. I liked the fact that they were conscientious of our neighbors because I have really good neighbors.
