Kova-Cuts Lawn Care

Bobby is dependable and does exactly what he says he will do. He does a very neat and professional job mowing the lawn every week. He is also going to handle the leaves in a couple of weeks and I'm sure he will be thorough and do a great job.

I offered the season job of lawn care to Bobby Kovachick (Kova-cuts) because he seemed passionate about doing a great job, his prior reviews were positive, and I wanted to provide the opportunity to someone trying to make it on their own. He had explained his other job was seasonal and this is how he makes ends meet. My experience was he does not do a "great job" and did not leave me feeling "positive" about his ability or customer service. During the summer his lawn care maintenance performance was adequate, but not impressive. The string trimming was very poor and the edging as far as I could tell was only done a couple times. I had decided I would let Bobby finish out the year since as a seasonal worker he likely planned his budget based on the number of customers...so I accepted that 75% quality was good enough for one season. Via text message 2 weeks ago Bobby indicated he was going to skip a week due to customers complaining he was mowing weekly when there wasn't a lot of growth. He also indicated he would be picking up clippings the entire month of October for Fall clean up. I was actually okay with weekly, but had learned earlier in the summer that trying to communicate with Bobby with any feedback was a waste of time. The normal lawn care day Bobby chose was Mondays. As a result, I was never at home to see Bobby mow/trim/edge nor to provide him face-to-face feedback. Today, Saturday, he showed up to mow. I thought "great, I'm actually here and can talk to him about the string trimming (which had been very poorly maintained) and I could get the garbage cans ready for the picking up the grass clippings as Bobby had indicated he would do each time he mowed in October (see pics)". In the two weeks time NE Ohio finally got some rain so the grass had grown quite nicely. Bobby doesn't collect the grass clippings as a rule and believes mulching is best. Most of the time I am okay with that approach, but not when it's early morning, wet grass and has 2 weeks of growth. I popped outside to get the garbage cans ready for Bobby to dump the grass clippings. Two things happened: 1) some young boy was string trimming and had no idea of how to do this job and 2) I greeted Bobby saying "Hey, cool, didn't know you'd be here today. Let me get the bags ready for you." Bobby rudely yelled he would not be collecting the grass clippings because there were no leaves. I was shocked since he had text messaged me to leave out garbage cans throughout the month of October. I tried to protest indicating the grass had grown quite a bit in 2 weeks and there would be wet clumps left behind. He yelled that mulching would be good enough. He complained to me that he has a full time job and basically did not have enough time. I said okay then next year I'll have to find someone else. Bobby yelled again at me and said to find someone else to do my lawn. He left the job unfinished. His lack of professionalism and lack of resources to do a complete job of lawn care is why I would not recommend Kova-Cuts lawn care.

Did so great, I hired him to do my mom's too, I don't have the time. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for fast, quality work, that you can trust to be there every week. It's nice not having to worry about it. One less thing on my plate.
