John was a godsend when it came to our home inspection! We had him perform inspections on two properties; one we eventually went ahead and purchased, and another that we decided to pass on after he uncovered serious issues that we wouldn't have known without his knowledge. Not only does he provide a thorough inspection, but he educates the potential home-buyer along the way and explains what he's looking for and what he sees. After the inspection is concluded, he sends a very detailed, yet easy to comprehend report summarizing what he found and the possible implications, should you go ahead with the purchase of the home. I couldn't recommend John's services any higher!

Checked the master bath, addressed our needs, and gave us solutions. We were extremely please with the service. I would recommend this company to anyone.

John did a fantastic job, not only in making sure he inspected every part of the house, but also in his excellent detailed report. There are a lot of crooks out there, and I am so extremely glad that I used John for my inspection. I was buying a short sale as is and I had a lot of questions for John and he gave me a lot of recommendations on what to do and approximate costs. I would recommend him to anyone that is considering buying a home. I have since bought the house and am using John's very detailed report as a checklist of things that I am fixing. If you need an inspector, I definitely recommend using John.

As I said, John did 2 home inspections for us as well as a radon mitigation and a mold remidiation. The first home we decided not to purchase because there were so many issues with the home that John uncovered, and we are very grateful that we did. The second home he inspected was a much better fit, although he uncovered both mold and radon issues. He thoroughly explained what fixing each issue would entail and he helped us to explain to the seller about the issues. We believe it was his explaining and thoroughness that convinced the sellers to work with us to deal with the problem. His use of a third party analyst of the radon test was key to convincing the sellers that indeed it was a real problem, and he came into the house and showed the sellers where the mold was located and his feelings on where it was coming from. John really went to bat for us. He returned every call and even hand delivered a letter in the evening for us to submit to our lender.

John went over every inch of what was visible with us, pointing everything out along the way, and classifying everything in terms of how critical/soon it needed to be addressed. (He was also clear about what could not be seen and therefore what to be on the lookout for.) He did not rush and took time to answer questions and give advice. I followed up on one suggestion to check with the city to see what work on the house had been permitted. That was very helpful. As we are new to the area, John also was able to suggest some professionals to contact regarding getting the work done. It is also a very old house, and it was reassuring to know what to expect.

It was a good experience. It was educational--he was patient about explaining the process. He left the equipment in the basement and picked it up two days later. We got a report of radon levels several hours later via email. This service was one of Angie's List Big Deals. Our house "passed" the test and we didn't have any other work done.

As first time home buyers, it's nerve wrecking and over whelming enough trying to find the perfect home in the perfect spot. John came out to inspect our first choice. He pointed out every little thing he could find, right down to missing cover plates on electrical boxes. Fortunately for us, he also pointed out a troubled roof, possible future foundation problems, and numerous "weekend projects". For as over whelming as the "to do" list became, John made sure we knew nothing should scare us off and there was always a fix if we were willing to invest the time, effort, and money. After deciding we weren't ready for the investment, we moved onto house #2 and gave John a call right away for another inspection. House #2 went better and John again did a wonderful job of detailing everything and providing a great report including pictures, notes on troubled areas, estimated cost to repair, and when it needed repaired/replaced. As we head to closing on our first house we feel safe and secure after the job John did and that's worth a lot these days. John's report will also become my "to do" list as I check more and more off as we go through the first summer in our new home. I HIGHLY recommend John as we found him to be very professional, friendly, and most importantly honest.

In 2 of the homes John C. inspected, he uncovered problems that caused us to not purchase the homes do to health hazards as well as extensive repairs needed. He does a very professional job, inspecting the property from top to bottom and inside and out. He takes time to explain what he is doing and what he's seeing during the inspection which helped us to make an informed purchase. We highly recommend Homewise for a great home inspection. His reports are filled with info and pictures of trouble spots and approxamite estimate for repair or replace also, why things may need replacement. My brother also hired John for a house inspection before he bought and also had a wonderful learning experience and again a full report on what John found. As a family we think John does a wonderful service for those of us that don't have a builders knowledge. I have found beautiful houses are deceiving. Beautiful houses with great bones, plumbing, roofs,etc. are very hard to find! It was important for us to have a true professional home inspector on our team!

Overall the inspection went very well. Since this was my first inspection, he informed me of how they normally go. He also asked that I stay close to him, but give him enough room to work. During the inspection, when he found an issue, he immediately brought it to my attention, showed and described the issue in detail, then informed me if it was a major or a minor issue and the approximate cost to get the item repaired. Once he had completed the inspection he sat down with me and talked in depth regarding the area's of the home that he was not able to inspect due to there being a foot of snow on the ground, but said that he would be willing to come back, after the snow had melted to review those items. Would definitely use him again.

Overall, the inspection showed alot of information that was miss and why I am still having problems with my house.

It was good. He was quick to return phone calls. He was able to rescheduled due to fact that the utilities hadn't been turned on yet. They followed up quickly after the inspection with the final report. It was overall a good experience.

I liked the format of the report; it was the the most thorough I have ever seen. It was composed by using electronic means, with a depth of the information. The inspector actually told me what was going on I got the report during the inspection; he actually encouraged me to follow him. He pointed at the area of concern and areas that would be "down the road" concerns, which most inspectors don't do. He articulated it very well, in a manner that was able to help me negotiate with the seller. I felt much more confident with the radon detection than I would with the lower cost methods, which is where they leave a pouch and then send it to a laboratory, which has a big risk of contamination. His unit was self-containing and provided results on the spot. There was value with the extra price, but their price was a little high.

We made a offer on a 3 year old home with a quick closing. Homewise was able to do an Inspection the next day which was great. The Inspector outline to us the method he was using, answered all of our questions and then did excellent inspection with a report emailed to us with 24 hours. Price was fair, I would use again!

Everything went well. He is a very smart and knowlegeable man and explained everything in detail to me and my brother. He explained the small structure problems so that even I could understand. He is a little tough to get ahold of cuz he's a one-man band and he doesn't answer his phone if he's with another client. I guess thats good or bad. Overall- I will always use him for this kinda stuff because I've been burned by other inspectors.

The basement of our house tested at 8, and we were looking for options to mitigate the radon. Joe showed up on time for the estimate, explained that our situation was difficult to address because of a tight crawlspace, offered some suggestions, and said he had to do some homework and would get back with me. After a week I called and left a message, asking if he had any suggestions yet. I called again a few days later. No response to either call. After the estimate visit we never heard from them again.

I called John because I had a radon inspection that showed higher levels than the EPA recommends. He came out and gave a thorough explanation of the properties of radon, how it gets into the house, and how to remove it. He is very clear that you can try cheaper remedies but they don't work as well. He gave me a bid and date to begin work. He was on time, cleaned up after himself and did a great job.

The Home-wise inspector was very knowledgeable and thorough as well as being on time. The inspection report was very detailed and concise; it includes many diagrams of potential problems with the property.

Things went good. I was really very mad that this two year old house has a radon problem, but I guess thats what I get for buying a ryan homes house. I found out about the radon problem in my development, Sandstone Ridge in Berea Ohio, when my neighbor sold their house and it had to be fixed before the people bought it. They used Homewise for their system, so I did too. It went very good. He took his time and did a very neet job. My husband asked why he didn't do it like the other systems in our development, so john showed him the code and letters from the Ohio health department showing that the other guys are not doing the systems correctly (using downspouts and rain caps). Homewise got my radon levels from 20 p to .04 p, I'd call that a great job!

It went great- He went out of his way to get it done in very short order. Really very nice man.

Homewise did a home inspection and mold testing for me a few months ago- did a great job and I was very impressed. I am handling the sale of my sister's home and was in dire need of a radon mitigation contractor this week before new years. I signed up for angies list and saw homewise listed for radon mitigation. I didnt realize they did radon or I would have called them first. I called john and he confirmed that they did radon systems. I explained that my sister needed a radon mitigation performed before the 1st of the year in order for her sale to close. John told me the he and his crew were technically "on vacation" until Jan, but he would personally come out and do the job himself (on new years eve!) just to help her out of a bind. He got the system in quickly and we couldn't be happier. I would recommend John without hesitation, even though he costs seem a little higher than average, you just cant beat the quality and service.

My Realtor suggested another inspector, but I was a little worried about doing it that way. I went online and found John's website. I compared his credentials to many others on the web and he was by far the most qualified inspector. I called him and he answered the phone himself. I was in a real hurry so he rearranged his schedule to fit me in (bonus point #1). The inspection began with him showing me the contract and explaining the procedure. He answered questions and got started. We began outside and he gave me a pair of binoculars while he pointed out issues on the roof. He actually got up on the roof and looked down the chimney and stuff. The realtor said her inspector never goes on roofs (bonus point #2) Inside inspection started in basement and went well until we got to the attic. The attic had a lot of condensation problems and some areas were moldy. The bathroom fans did not vent out of the house the right way. John explained all the science behind why it was a problem and drew some pictures to show me. At the end of the inspection, John was explaining everything and the Realtor kept interrupting him trying to discount the things he was saying. John politely asked the Realtor to let us talk in private which made my Realtor visibly mad. John explained that she was making it impossible to communicate with me so she let us be. (Big bonus point #3) The report was delivered the next day which again, made my Realtor mad. She said her guy gives it right away before leaving. John said something like: Any written document that matters for anything shouldn't be written while standing at someones countertop in a vacant house, and I agree. (Bonus point #4) The report was sent by email. It was like 32 pages long with many drawings and a like 3 photos that he took in the attic. At the end of the report there's an attached homeowners guide with about 400 pages of good info. I showed my dad the whole thing and he thinks its all great and I did a good job. (Bonus point #5)
