Holland Paving

Very professional service, from the estimate all the way through the follow up. Everyone I dealt with was kind and helpful. I would highly recommend both the work and the service and I will definitely use them again.

Contacted Holland Paving via Angie's List email and received a call the following day. Tony called to discuss my project requirements, the desire for a "Tar & chip" driveway. While Holland Paving does not offer this service, they were very attentive to my inquiry. Tony passed my call to Tom Holland who provided a great deal of additional information. I would definitely suggest you contact Holland Paving if you are looking for a knowledgeable contractor who provides quality service. While I am unable to use them for my current project, Tom provided a few contacts I could try. I would not hesitate to contact Holland Paving in the future. Clearly knowledgeable and with a focus of providing a quality.

I requested a quote online in late June and within two weeks the company emailed a quote to me. They charged twice as much as two other companies that I had requested quotes from, but based on the strength of the Angie's List reviews, I decided to accept the quote. The original date scheduled was rained out, but the company was able to reschedule for the next day. The finished work looks great, and there was no mess left behind.

The appointment was arranged by phone earlier in the week for Friday 5/18/2012 at 11:00am. I waited until 11:50 am and contacted Holland because the salesman did not show up. The contact at Holland asked me if I knew the salesman name, and if it was a man or a woman, as they have several salespeople. I gave her my address and phone number, and she would investigate who was the sales contact. Then began the three cell phone calls from the salesman. The 1st: I answered 'hello', then I heard some noises which sounded like breathing or coughing and other stuff. I kept saying hello, but there was no response and the call went dead on their end. That whole call maybe lasted 15-20 seconds. The second call from the cell phone was about 30 seconds later, but it only rang once. Then, a minute later, a third call from the cell number. The salesman asks for me and I respond who I was. He begins by stating the following: " I don't know what to tell you. I lost my appointment book (or list) and I missed an appointment with you." He then goes on to say, " do you want to reschedule or just forget about it? This messed you up more than it did me, so I can understand." I could not believe what I was hearing. He went on to day that was in another part of Cuyahoga County and wanted to know what I wanted to do. I responded the other times I was free, none of which included today (5/18/2012). But then I told him that was ok, referencing that I was done with Holland. Things happen with missed appointments or being late and I understand. But my issue is that this salesman did not sound like he cared to want my business. In fact, I don't recall an apology from him, and me might have. I don't recall because I felt he did not care if I rescheduled or not. He did not care about trying to keep this customer. If I were him, I would be giving the customer a time he would some by to make up for missed appointment as soon as possible, but he instead gave me the option of just dropping it, i.e. not using Holland at all. How could I feel comfortable dealing with a company that handles a potential new customer? I didn't feel I mattered with that company. First impressions are everything and that one was bad.

It’s still holding up beautifully two years later. They did a great job. We get quite a bit of traffic that goes through there. The patching is holding up great and we’re considering having them do the resurfacing next spring.

The quote was way above everyone else's. The gentleman who came out was nice and prompt when he came to deliver the estimate. I will not use them again in the future.

This company is well worth waiting for. They are very thoughtful about what they do and they are most concerned about doing a good job. They are well worth the money. I would highly recommend them. I will always use them for my paving needs.

Because we were ultimately able to arrange seal-coating with our original seal-coater, we did not use Holland. However, because they were so prompt in their response to us, we give them a high score.

Started off a bit rocky - trying to come to an agreement as to what I needed and wanted done; but teh owner Tom stepped in and rectified the situation. Gerat company and work crew.

Our asphalt driveway was a disaster, with large areas degraded or missing altogether. Holland's was one of three estimates we sought out. Were they the cheapest? As a matter of fact, they were the most expensive. However, they gave us an estimate within 24 hours of calling, gave us a detailed, measured "map" of how individual areas would be treated (which the other companies did not do), and responded to our request for service in a timely manner. They showed up with a large crew exactly when they said they would and got to work. Man, can those Holland guys work! If only my own employees worked that hard! They were professional, courteous, and friendly. They fixed our mess of a driveway in under 3 hours. Hat's off to Tito (Alberto) and the rest of his crew!

They were very professional and did a beautiful job. They made an error during the estimate process, but ensured to call back and revised the estimate. Their second estimate was very reasonable in comparison to a lot others. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

Today Tom Holland came out to look over the job and prepare an estimate. We had some communications problems earlier but today he listened to how I wanted the the job done and is preparing the estimate accordingly. I will update this as we progress.

The paving job went well. The men worked steadily and efficiently. They brought all of the needed supplies and equipment and got right to work. They dug up the worn out asphal (which was very thick in parts), hauled it away, and told us we could use the driveway until the pavers arrived. The paving men came a few days later and also worked efficiently. They finished the job in one day. We are happy with the job that they did. All of the men were professional and courteous. Afterward, Tom Holland called to see if there had been any problems and if we were pleased with the work.

Excellent - I contacted them early in the year and got a quote. They were not the most expensive nor the cheapest. I was originally going to have the drive patched and repaved. But when they contacted the City as part of the permitting process, it was determined I needed a complete tear out. The owner Tom Holland personally called to explain why this was necessary due to my house not having a drain in the garage as the city requires and other grading issues. He was very professional and honest. So, they did the tear out, put in a new base. I drove on that for a couple of weeks. Waited for the rain to stop (they would tentatively schedule and the call me the night before to confirm or cancel) and they came and installed the drive just before Memorial Day. Have had 2 big downpours since the install- the drive is perfectlly graded - no water in the garage or pooling in my side yard anymore. Very professional workers and a great product.

Holland's initial response was very fast, but then we did not receive a quotation for several days, requiring us to call them back twice to get the quote. The estimate was $3600 for 400 square feet of 3-inch asphalt and 6-10 inch base. This was over twice as much as two other quotes we received for the same work, with the same quote specifications. It is of course impossible to know if the price difference represents a higher level of quality work, but the details in the estimates were identical. Based on the delay we had in receiving the quote, and the price, it seems like Holland didn't want to do the job.

They were very professional and they did what they had to do. It started to rain and they finished it quickly and they had to come back and touch it up a little bit. They were expensive.

Nice. The neighbors even said is looked great. There was very, very little debris left behind so we were really pleased. All the estimates were close in price, we just felt more comfortable with Jim.

Our driveway had been vandalized and Holland was kind enough to come that day to paint over very nasty graffiti and we were not charged for that. We appreciated that very, very much which is why I gave them a "A" for responsiveness. They said that they would do this for us if we promised to use them for the repair and sealcoating job that we needed. We had used them before for sealcoating and had been happy with the work so it was easy for us to agree to this. Our experience this time, however, was different from the first time. I think the problem is that there are 2 departments within the company - one handles repair and one handles sealcoating. The repair work was scheduled to be done first so that the sealcoating would cover the patches. If you have a contract that involves both services, the 2 departments do not communicate with one another which caused us endless confusion and ultimate disappointment with the job. We had 2 different people calling us to schedule jobs and until we realized we were working with 2 departments, it was very confusing. On top of that, because of rain, the job was pushed back several times. And then, the sealcoating crew showed up on the scheduled date but because of rain, the repair work had not yet been done. Despite noticing that the repair work hadn't been done, the crew went ahead and did the sealcoating. They did not let me know that they were there to do the work and by the time I realized it, the job was 3/4 done and our cars were trapped in the garage. They did help us get one car out of the garage but had to drive over the newly sealed driveway and the grass to do so. The following week, the repair work was done. We were told that the entire driveway would be recoated to minimize patching. We were out of town when this was done and although we can't prove it, we do believe that the sealcoating was done only over the patched areas. We spent quite a bit of money on this job and are not happy with the result. We will probably not use Holland Paving again.

It went very well. They came when they were supposed to and got the job done quite quickly. I was very satisfied with it. The salesman, Rob, was very nice and he seemed to return my phone calls quickly.

Their price was significantly lower than others. The response from the company was fabulous and they were very professional when talking to them to set up the appointment. They came out the day they said they were going to, considering that the weather is a big factor. I had to call them to come back because they missed an area under the stairs and they never did come back out to finish the work.

I think they are a good company, but their prices were very high.

They did a good job. It was neat tidy, we had to rearrange dates several times due to the weather, but they always kept me updated.
