Description of Work: Barry did a thorough walk through of the project with me and made some good suggestions. He gave me a detailed estimate as promised. I did go with another contractor but would consider using Barry for future projects.

Description of Work: Barry Hoffman responded quickly to the offer and came to my home within that week. I felt that he would be better for kitchens than baths. He was here a long time yet we didn't get much design work done. The followup for the pictorial design was slow, more than a week. It addressed some major concerns but did nothing to get me excited to redo my bath. No thought into the decoration, cabinetry, flooring etc. He is a nice guy and may be a good builder but not for design work.

[member name removed] was a bit difficult to work with. She had a huge, poorly designed 1980's bath that had some serious issues such as cracking tile. She wanted to remodel it but only had budget of $7,000.00. The cost to redo a bath of this size could easily be five times that amount. I tried to question her what was the most important issues that had to be taken care of. She had no real idea beyond her husband's need for a smaller bath tub and a larger shower. But she wanted to keep the rough sawn cedar siding - and that would have been difficult because of the way it configured with the Jacuzzi she wanted to remove. I finally told her we don't know where the plunbing is going, and her budget was limited, let us try a more limited design to start the converstation. I submitted this design and then called her to follow up. I spent a half hour on the phone trying to explain the floor plan. She seemed unable to understand the concepts involved. I called her a few times after that to see if I could be of service. The last time I called she responded by posting this review on Angie's List. I work with architects and bath and kitchen designers. We can supply a number of wonderful ideas. But the client has to have a vision that we can build on and a willingness to commit to the project.

I was very pleased.
Description of Work: I had significant water damage in my basement coming from the outside. Mr. Hoffman thoroughly investigated the source of the water and fixed each problem to make sure the root cause was found and corrected. Once he fixed the various sources of water leakage into the basement he then proceeded to replace the door and frame that was rotted, removed the wallpaper, fixed the drywall, added partial paneling and painted. He did a very professional job.
