Description of Work: Mr. Hoffman had other companies do the carpentry and plumbing work. It took several calls to arrange times to perform the work. There was confusion over what work would be covered by the agreement after the work was done.

+ 0 moreMr. Hoffman was a complete professional throughout the process. Our roof had a sag to it, so there was a lot of extra work for him in terms of making the walls and ceiling on even planes, but he did very well. He handled all the permits and dealt with the city inspector so that we didn't have to do any of the paperwork ourselves. He used a new type of radiant insulation to get the R-value in our attic to R-50, and already we notice a huge difference in our ability to control the climate of the attic. All in all, Mr. Hoffman more than earned his check on this project. I would recommend him to anyone thinking about a similar project, or any remodeling in an older house.

+ 1 moreHe managed all of the permits, went through the fine arts process (which many contractors won't do), provided all of the drawings, completed the work and construction and did a fine job. He was timely, reasonable in price and his work was completed professionally and as promised.
Description of Work: He removed a door on a porch and installed a window. He also reroofed a small porch. The work included reframing, dry-wall, trim installation and more.

+ -1 moreMr. Hoffman's service was excellent - start to finish. He took care to plan out the rail - making sure that he and I both knew exactly where he was headed with style and appearance. He took care to match the rail to the interior decor and to blend the overall appearance with the house appearance from beforehand. (I would wager that anyone visiting our house now would not realize that this rail was added later.) The rail has proven to be sturdy and still looks great. The pricing was reasonable and well worth it for the time and care that Mr. Hoffman put into the job. He finished his work in a timely manner and was professional and pleasant throughout.
Description of Work: Mr. Hoffman did a small handrail job for us. He crafted and installed a handrail to allow a family member better stability as he goes up and down a few steps from our kitchen to our family room.

+ 0 moreBarry reccomended a new type of vinyl flooring for our specific purpose that not only saved us a bundle, but it looks more attractive than our original flooring sample. This type of flooring was able to install over top of our torn up 1980s linoleum, therefore saving time and labor expenses. The floor looks so level and smooth, that nobody will ever know that it's not the first layer of flooring. The installment was very professional and precise. The result is a completely fresh new look that adds beauty and value to our home. We couldn't be more pleased. Will hire again! Thanks, Barry!

He was constantly consulting with us, telling us what his plans were for each day. He provided a lot of advice in choosing materials and colors. He was a delight to work with and was extremely responsive. The kitchen looks wonderful. Everything was on budget. We are very pleased. It took a little longer than I expected due to the age of the home, but I am delighted with the way that it looks.

Description of Work: Repaired and reinstalled wrought iron work on the stoop Removed a rotted-out threshhold to the front door and replaced it with a cast-in-place concrete threshhold. Made a lasting repair on the broken corner of the sandstone stoop. Did a skillful repair to the front room ceiling that covered up the fallen plaster and water damage and also hid the mismatched stucco repairs that came before.Installed a porch light. Removed and installed new storm doorin front.
