Grounds By Coffey

I called Grounds by Coffee to apply mulch to the planters all around the house. I believe this is the third year that I have had this business apply mulch. John Coffey responded quickly to my call. He is very pleasant to work with and seems very knowledgeable. I asked him to do the mulching. They cut a clean edge along the lawn, cleaned up all debris, applied preen weed control, and spread 11 yards of shredded bark mulch. They have always done a great job and I have been pleased with the results

No complaints about the service, but the company likes to dilly dally and take their sweet time cashing checks. They had a check of mine in their possession for over two weeks and it hasn't cleared. I don't know what the holdup could be, especially since one can deposit checks with a mobile device.

He promised he’d be here same afternoon. The sun went down about five o’clock with no call from Grounds by Coffey. At 6 o’clock, it was pitch black. I figured nobody does snow plowing in the dark. I assumed he had just failed to show up. He never called to say he would be late or would even be coming the next day. Around 6:30 a guy with a shovel came by, who was not affiliated with Coffey. He did a whiz bang job. Around 10 o'clock that night I found a a piece of paper stuck in my screen door from the Coffey Company. It was late at night, after the job was already done by this other person, Coffey sent their truck around. The note stated that if I was going to not have us come by, to make sure you call us or else you will be charged for the job. A week later I got a call from the secretary saying I owe them $40 for the snow plow job that was never done. They said I had to pay it because they sent someone out, but to me, they failed their part of the bargain. They said I was locked in and owe the money as soon as I called the company. They called me and bugged me about it every week for about two months. I stood firm and didn’t pay them anything. Eventually they stopped because I stood firm. I would not recommend this company to anybody.

They were awesome and gave great service. They were very timely with the removal so my driveway was always clear.

They did excellent service. They made it easy. They come out every time and I don't have to call them. The people were good. They did the job well and they were easy to work with.

He arrived to provide an estimate soon after i called. This was the first time I'd ever used a landscaper, so I didn't really know what to ask for; all I knew at the time was that the plant life in the front of our house was out of control and beyond eye sore status. Coffey suggested the services required to clean up the area, gave me a quote, and I called him soon after to have him come out and do the work. Coffey and his crew did a great job making my front yard look clean and well manicured. The before and after of our front landscaping is night and day; and, ever since, it's been easy to maintain. I'd definitely use Coffey again, and kind of wish I'd paid him to clean up the back yard as well.

He is very responsive and professional. Each year he hands out a survey to his clients to ensure they are satisfied with the services. He really values his customers and his workers are very personable. I only have positive things to say about this company and have recommended them to many others.

I have no complaints. I have employed his company before to put mulch on my planters around the front of the house and received high quality service for that also.

Seamless. No hassle. Called for estimate. Came next day at 8:00am. Put estimate in mailbox. I approved and within 4 days my yard looks amazing. Never met John Coffey...only talked to him twice. Very professional. I will be invoiced in the mail for his services. I will definitely use this company again.

My first use of Grounds by Coffey was last year. I was contacted by my lawn service (Tru-Green) to do lawn aeration. I thought the price was a little high at around $175. I contacted John and his price was $80. I tried them and they did a great job. On time, courteous and the aeration looked very complete. I decided to try them this spring for edging the beds around my property and mulching. The job was done well, on time and very neat. I will definitely use them in the future.

I was not impresses with Mr. Coffey. I believe I called him on April 21, 2014 but I'm not exactly sure on the date.

The workers edged the grass along all of the planter beds and coated generously with mulch. I've had this mulching done each year for a few years and this was the best job I've had done yet. It looked very good and I was happy with the job. I would definitely hire them again.

We used Grounds by Coffee last year and they did good work but this year they have a new truck and driver and are unable to plow in front of my husband's side of the garage. We now have 10 inches of snow outside of my husband's side and he is unable to get out of the garage. When I contacted the company, they said they had a new driver and he was not as experienced and that the truck was too large to get over any further. They said they would send someone out this evening to see if they could clear some more snow away. I understand if they cannot plow the area due to the size of the truck but I wish that someone would have informed me of the situation rather than my having to call them to find out what was wrong. The driver was to return this same day, but failed to show up. When Mr. Coffey called, and asked if the driver had come, I informed him that he had not. Then he was to send the driver the next morning; but again the driver did not show nor did we get a call from the driver or from Mr. Coffey.

At first I was happy to get my driveway plowed. I was hoping to get a call back from the company regarding a snow removal contract but the guy plowing said he was just a worker and he would have someone call. The first and second plowing was great. He removed the snow from my entire driveway making sure the door exits to my home were clear. Third time they plowed (2/5) the drive was a nightmare. Came so late (after 9pm), I know they couldn't really see well enough to do a good job. They blocked the back yard gate with more than a foot of snow....so I no longer use the back door...then he didn't pull the snow from the side of the house so it's compacted up against the side door. This door is a step up and even still, the snow is so high I cannot open the door out. I'm forced to use the front door...which has so much snow piled up in front from the plow...I'm up to my knees. Finally, the guy who made the appointment was very cranky and borderline rude. I realize he has crews working 'round the clock but that's no excuse to bully me. It was not worth this last plowing! Very disappointed.

Called in the afternoon, and it was done before I got home from work. Could have been cleaner, but it was done.

I was disappointed that he did not do my walk and left a foot and a half drift in front of my side door. Also, the snow plow left two vertical marks on my garage door, about two feet in length. I felt the $40 charge for less than 10 minutes work was excessive. I'm a widow and am at the mercy of contractors, etc. Also, when the snow melted, the cement berm on my driveway had a four inch chunk broken off it. I knew it was the snowplow as that driveway has been in since 1967, and nothing has ever damaged it. I did call Mr. Coffey with my concerns. He explained since he had never worked for me before and did not know what my drive looked like he had no way of knowing that his snowplow would damage my drive. He said he has been in business for 13 years and his services do not include doing the walk and by side door and that I had only requested that my drive to be cleared as I was snowed in and needed to get out. I acknowledged that the snow was extremely deep, about two feet or more with drifts from our recent storms. I must say, when I called Mr. Coffey, he said, I'll be there in 10 minutes and he was. Also, I had to go out and shovel the next day by my side door, and the big drift in front of my garage door, where the plow had gone up one way, and down the other, and left that drift. I also asked him about senior discounts, as advertised in his ad, and he said that was only for regular customers i.e. his lawn services and landscaping not for one time services. So, I left everything at that and paid his bill. Obviously, I will not be calling on him again. I did find another contractor who used a snow blower and cleaned sidewalk, porch, etc. to my satisfaction for $20.00. However, I do want to commend the person from Angies list that I spoke to initially. David e-mailed me several contractors in a matter of a couple of minutes, if that. I chose Mr. Coffey as he was the closest to me. I just feel my experience with Mr. Coffey's services is probably not typical, but I am kind of fussy about the kind of jobs I expect, and this should not reflect on his overall services to other clients.

Asked for quote to winterize gardens front and back yards on new home we moved into late fall. Happy with professional dealing with provider, prompt and courteous contact and quote was reasonable. We decided to do yards ourselves this year and will revisit next year.

I called very late in the season (unexpected surgery prevented me from shoveling) and they added me without question and have been extremely timely and I couldn't be happier with the service.

This is my second winter with Grounds by Coffey. They are very prompt and take care of the snow removal anytime we have over 3 inches of snow. I have no complaints.
