Description of Work: Service man came out to change filters. We have been using GLW treatment Inc for 12 years now. We have always been so happy with the service from the people who come out to service our water treatment equipment. The gentlemen are always very courteous and do a great job. I highly recommend this company for reverse osmosis drinking water systems.

I did not buy this system, it was already installed in the house when I bought it. This company only offers service calls M-F during business hours. This is an inconvenient method for most working people, myself included. The problem described above was found and supposedly repaired, but the first time tried to fill the tank it took extremely long. Filling this tank is not a daily operation, it is only needed every once in a while depending on how much water you use. It's also something you have to manually check by opening the tank and peeking inside with a flashlight. There is no alarm, or even a window in the tank to see what the level is. Before the service person came, the filling process took about 20 min. Now it takes over 2 hours. We called to complain and were told that not only do they only warranty the part for only 30 days, they would charge us to fix it again. A 30 day warranty on a part you only use every few weeks is not very useful for the customer. When I was there with the tech the first time they came for this issue, he said he tested it, and I believed him. I guess I have to watch him test it this time to verify for myself. This system requires a lot of maintenance, resulting in several service calls a year for several hundred dollars per call. We did not buy this system, it came with our house and we were told it was top of the line. The part they fixed has needed to be replaced or serviced several times in the past few years, which makes me think they're not high quality parts. When I mentioned the lack of warning for problems, the service man said some of their customers set up service calls every 6 months regardless if they have a problem or not. This was the solution. The solution is for the customer to pay for a call every 6 months, for which they charge about $50 per call just for the visit. Service is terrible with this company, and the bills are always expensive. I would not buy this system in the future. Reading the other review for this company, I see that the previous homeowner must have been given the 5 years supply of soap products. They left it all behind in our house and we had to dispose of it since it was mostly expired. I guess that was a great added value for the original buyer.
Description of Work: Service call to fix a hose that fills a tank for adding chlorine to the water softener system. The fill hose was somehow clogged and water was leaking onto the basement floor before we knew what was wrong. This company sells Rain Soft systems. They only make service calls M-F during business hours.

I just want to give anyone who is considering this company a "heads up". It started out by us finding a vial on our door to send in a water sample to be tested. I assumed that it was the city that was doing this, but it turned out to be this water treatment company. After several persistent phone calls offering a $25 gift card to a local restaurant and no obligation (only to perform further tests on our water), we finally agreed to have a someone come out. The sales rep was friendly and very persuasive in showing us all the impurities in our water and talking about all of the companies that use their system (NASA, etc.) and it seemed like a good idea even though it would cost about $5,500 to have a whole house unit installed. I told the rep that I needed to sleep on it before I made a decision and he could contact me the next day. He did not seem too happy about this, but agreed. I asked him about the gift card and he said he didn't have any with him, but that it would be mailed to me. After talking this over with my wife, we decided to wait until next Fall to have it installed since we would be gone for most of the summer. When the rep called to set up a meeting time for later that day, I mentioned that we wanted to postpone the installation and he told me that meant that he could not give me the free 5 year supply of their soap products that was a part of this offer. That immediately sent up a red flag for me, since I don't believe in making fast decisions on purchases that are this expensive (I have had bad past experiences with this kind of high pressure sales). So I did some research online (I Googled "Great Lakes Water review"), and found a whole raft of complaints about the parent company, Rain Soft. They ranged from the system not working and having to pay for the repairs even though it was supposed to be under warranty, to how awful the soap products were (not getting things clean), to not receiving the promised gift, etc., etc. I actually had a hard time finding positive reviews for this outfit. When the rep called back again, I told him about this and cancelled the installation. He told me that their company couldn't be responsible for reviews from some other part of the country and that they had an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. I am surprised at this rating since I don't think of this kind of high pressure salesmanship as being a "better business" practice. It also seems to me that if Rain Soft were a truly reputable company, they would stand behind their subsidiaries and make sure that these problems were resolved. And, given what I have read, I am not expecting to receive the $25 gift card, but we'll see. So, for what it's worth, that was my experience, and I would just forewarn anyone considering dealing with this company to do their own research and beware. The water treatment product this company is offering may or may not be as wonderful as the salesman would have me believe, but with all of the negative reviews, for me it wasn't worth the risk especially given the high cost of the system.
Description of Work: Because of the company's bad reviews online, I did not have the water treatment installed.

The gentleman who came out was rude and quite aggressive. When my husband left the room, he was so rude I was almost in tears. I expected a sales pitch, but he took it much too far. I had scheduled to have him come at 7:30 and had planned dinner around it, but I had not even gotten the dishes off the kitchen table when he arrived. He showed up 30 minutes early, and I generally do not mind, but his early arrival was very inconvenient. He stained my table with the chemicals he used in his demonstration. I would certainly not consider using this company based on his behavior.
Description of Work: He came out to test our water.

When we bought the house, the water system in place had an unacceptable sulfur odor. The new system does a good job of providing clean-smelling, tasty water.
Description of Work: Installed new whole house water softener and filtration for 2300 sq. ft. home with well water.
