+ -1 moreI was very pleased with the promptness and professionalism of this company. They literally came the morning after I called their office, and had the old grill out, and the new grill installed within a couple of hours. They cleaned up the area, and everything was pleasantly ready to go.
Description of Work: They installed a brand new natural gas stainless steel grill next to my patio. This new grill replaced an older model grill that had seen 20 + years of service, and it turns out that the old grill was installed by this same company. The new grill is an excellent replacement for the old one, the new one has stainless steel components and ceramic "bricks" to replace the old lava stones.

+ -1 moreFantastic. I called Gaslite the night before, and Ron was able to fit me in the next day. Not only did they remove the grill and cap the line. Ron also removed about 30 feet of pipe inside of the house, capped 3 separate lines, and even removed a line from the old incinerator that remained long after the incinerator had been removed (prior to our owning the house). Ron and Co. worked efficiently, exhibited exceptional professionalism, and honored the original estimate. Although, I was prepared to pay more for the extra work that was done. Ron also does water heaters. If I had the need to replace our recently purchased heater, I would not hesitate to contact Ron.
Description of Work: We are planning to expand our patio, and wanted the 15 year old gas grill removed and the gas line capped.

+ -1 moreI called Ron early in the morning and told him the situation. He was over within a short amount of time to assess the problem. He was honest and very forthcoming. I had tried everyone on Angie's List who was listed under the "Gas Leak Repair" Category within 10 miles of my home. Ron was the first to call me back and the ONLY one who could get the work done THAT day (the Friday before New Years Eve).
Description of Work: We thought that we had smelled a gas leak in our kitchen so we had called Columbia Gas to check out the situation. They did indeed find a gas leak within the house (but not in the kitchen.) So at 9 pm, they shut off our gas to the entire house. After contacting Ron about the situation, he came over. He found the leak and replaced part of the pipe that was leaking. He also brought some of the valves up to code.

+ 0 moreRon was prompt in calling me back after I left a message on his machine. He was friendly and honest. I felt the suggestions he gave me about my pipes, the water heater and the fireplace were not to drum up business for himself but to really help me. I would definitely call him again.
Description of Work: My ventless fireplace would not stay on. Ron thought it might be a dirty gas pilot pipe. He told me that if cleaning out the pilot didn't work, he would not charge me but that parts for my fireplace would be very difficult to come by because of its age. He cleaned out the pilot by blowing on it with a length of small pipe and it worked! Ron told me I could do this myself in the future with a drinking straw. He also told me I needed to vacuum out the fireplace. While checking the gas line in the basement he also checked my hot water heater and my water supply line. He suggested a water filter for my faucet because the pipes are very old in the house and are most likely made with lead.

+ -1 moreIn a panic, I contacted Ron Pickering at Gaslite based upon a recommendation I received from a friend. I explained my situation, and within an hour Ron was at my home to replace my hot water tank. Not only did he bail me out of a potential last minute disaster, he was exceptionally courteous, pleasant and knowledgeable. In addition to replacing the tank, he gave me several tips on how I could save on my hot water bill in the future. In today's environment, when it often seems so difficult to find quality service providers, I really appreciated the way I was treated by Ron and the fact that he went out of his way to help me out. He was a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of his services.
Description of Work: I recently encountered a problem with my hot water tank at a very inopportune time that could have resulted in a disaster had it done not been for the exceptional and expedient service I received from Ron Pickering with Gaslite. My hot water tank sprung a severe leak, which caused a small flood in my basement.

+ -1 moreI had to find someone right away and had used him before and remembered he did this kind of work. He called back quickly. He removed the old water tank and installed the new one. He was responsive, did good work, was there when he said he would be. He did an excellent job. He knew what he was talking. It was an incredibly smooth event and his approach was top notch.

+ -1 moreI called Ron in the evening, and he came immediately the next day. What I really liked about his service was since the grill was outside, he told me that he would come to repair it without me even having to be home and would leave his bill in our mailbox. He repaired the grill quickly and even advised to get new racks for the grill. He ordered these racks for us, and they came the next day. We also had used Ron previously to repair our water heater, and we were amazed by his work, the quality, and value for our money.
Description of Work: Our gas grill was heating unevenly. Ron checked out what the problem was and immediately fixed it. He also came before to fix our water heater which we found out had to be replaced, and Ron did so again quickly and efficiently. The water heater is huge, and he was able to replace it for around $1000.

+ -1 moreRon was timely, efficient and professional. He and his assistant cleaned up the area on the deck when they were done. He quoted us a fair price and stuck to that price even after finding a few other parts that needed repair. I would definitely hire him again!
Description of Work: We called Ron to find out about repairing an old gas grill that had rusted and had fallen off the post. He came out a day earlier than he promised, and repaired the grill. He found several other parts of the grill that needed replacement and took care of everything quickly.

+ -1 moreRon came out soon after my call. He inspected the existing gas line to the firebox. The old line was capped and live. He explained that the way that the line was run was code in the 1920's when my house was built, but that it would not be right today. He ran a new line to the back of the firebox, and installed a shut-off valve in the basement. He had to break out brick in the basement and in the firebox to accommodate the line and he re-bricked those areas. He also removed an old gas line that lead nowhere (old houses can be a lot of fun). His work was prompt, neat - he cleaned up the hearth, and the basement. He was clean and his work was clean. The work was completed in a couple of hours. Ron explained what he was doing as he went along.
Description of Work: Replaced old gas line to fireplace, installed valves where there were none, and removed old gas lines.

+ -1 moreThis was a very irritating situation for me. Having my gas turned off in the middle of winter!. Ron was very professional, honest and hardworking. He spent at least 7 hours total to get this job done and done very well. In the end all I remember from this day is the great and honest worker I came across who did an excellent job. I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: We have an older house. Ron repaired a gas leak. He was the only one who came within 2 hrs of calling him. After he repaired the leak the gas company came out and discovered that the leak was still there. A very small leak! Ron talked to the company himself, he came back out within 30 minutes and spent 5 hours trying to track the leak and repairing it. He rechecked all my pipe connections and capped all lines not in use. He even hauled away an old incinerator!. We then called the gas company. The guys who came out were so impressed by his work that they took his number to pass it along. They said this was the most meticulous work they had ever seen. We tried to give Ron some more money but he refused. He said he would not charge us any more than the price we initially agreed upon.
